August 21st, 2011, five years ago today, I uploaded this to MOCpages, and my online footprint began to expand dramatically. I didn't have any big train wheels at this time, but still I got a train and town together for the LDD screenshot of my "dream town".
Most of the buildings are built in real life today except for the post office (demolished) and gas station (never built), but they all have been seriously modified since then. The steam locomotive is still around as UK-style LRTS engine number 4172, but the coaches are long gone from my inventory.
I'm posting this as a throwback to my earlier days, when LDD was in the 3.0 range somewhere and LEGO Universe still was playable. The Maersk diesel train (set 10219) was the talk of the Train Tech forum on Eurobricks, and the Emerald Night (10194) was still available on LEGO.com. My Eurobricks account had only been active for almost a year and my Flickr page was mostly still in the future. (I had the account, but didn't use it much at this time until 2012) Also, MOCpages had just gotten through the Great Page Crash when many pictures were lost forever. I've also made tons of friends along the way, so thank you to all of them, of which they are too many to name or count!
Looking back, it seems funny as it all seems so much like a few days ago I started this journey, when in reality it was half a decade ago, with many, many, more years to go!
I also joined MP 5 years ago and it is amazing to think what can happen in that time. I dont get much time for MP these days but I have learnt so much from this site. Always worth looking back at old creations to see where you started. keep on bricking :)
