Ghar, Toa of Earth V7
Holy cow, I'm late...
About this creation
Hello everyone on the Pages!

I'm double late on this. Not only has Ghar been at V7 for a while now without me uploading him, but this was supposed to be up 5 days ago, as was my MOCAversary post. I've been busy with my birthday, then a family visit, then band camp, but fear not, I'm still doing it! Just very, very late.

So let's get into it, shall we?

Front view.

Side view.

Back view.

Close up of the torso, which was mostly my main focus for Ghar's update.

It involved quite some chiropractic prowess, as I decided to completely change the spine construction so that he can stand straight. For anyone who didn't know, the older Ghar versions used a weird, gear-like beam piece as the spine, but I've replaced that with a normal Technic beam. His back is really Technic heavy, but it doesn't look too awful, and it fits with the mostly mechanical look.

I've change up how the bandoleer attaches, using a Technic brick and an assembly connected to his back.

The inside got a revamp as well, due to the new spine piece.

Only three parts are not attached that fill the torso armor gaps, but now those Bohrok eyes are fixed to the torso, which they weren't before!

Arms had only some slight work done to them. I've added a Bohrok eye up towards the top to fill in the armpit gap, and one below that to fill in the elbow gap, but I'm still on the fence about that one as it looks odd from some angles.

The entire back armoring bit was changed, as it is no longer a slope brick. It now consists of a Technic assembly with some Metru armor which I still need to paint black. I've also gotten rid of the bolt carrier strap he had and moved extra bolts to be on his forearm.

Creates an interesting look, I feel, and it gets rid of the obnoxious belt.

Legs haven't change too much either, but there are some key differences.

The green studs on his thighs have been replaced by black ones as they weren't necessary, and, as is perhaps the most obvious change, the Inika foot armor has been changed to the piece seen here. Sure, it breaks the textures, but it makes the leg less flat and looks more like boots. Also, they aren't completely done yet, I need more black pieces to finish them.

I also have alternate shin guards, this time silver Metru feet. These ones cover up the annoying knee gap, but they are a very sudden concentration of silver, which is why I don't have them on.

I experimented with them as per Blizzard the Storyteller's critique!

They look better with the silver mask, though.

ACTION SHOTS!

Also, a bit of a questionnaire: Would you prefer Ghar's quakebow A) Stay as it is, B) Be revamped, but look similar, or C) Be turned into a hand crossbow?

Size comparison with Tahu Uniter. Ghar's gotten a lot shorter over the years!

See you all in the next post!

That's about it for now, please critique if you wish! Official MOCAversary post coming soon, I swear this time!

I agree about the torso, but don't do it so much that it's changed too much, I like the general design. The arms are cool, but the shoulder pads look awkwardly far from the arms on the main image. But these are minor nitpicks, this is great! I wish I had that much g1 :(

Quoting The Dark Flame Excellent work! It looks very smooth and consistent except for the shins and boots, but that's the only critique I have currently. As for the crossbow, I'll go with choice B, and suggest making it slightly skinnier and smoother, though not to much as the bulkiness is what I believe makes it look like a "quake" bow. On another note: You already did band camp? Down here in Texas at least, we can't start before August else the school will be kicked from UIL. Edit: Try bulking up the torso, it looks to skinny with his limbs, especially the legs. Also, silver-pakari mode is my favourite.
Thanks, man! Hm, I'm a little confused by your critique, as since they are smooth they don't fit in as well as the greebly appearance elsewhere? Perhaps you mean his flow is smooth, and that the shins and boots don't textural-ly match? As for the crossbow and body, I can take that into consideration, and I'm glad you enjoy the silver Pakari too! In terms of band camp, yea, I live in the Northeast, my area starts in the summer so we can get more done, considering our first games are the first weeks of school. Our school district, as far as I know, doesn't have an organization like the UIL to run our programs, so perhaps the regulations are a bit more lenient as a result!

Quoting RaptorTalon ~ Neat! I am pretty sure I saw this on TTV, but looks nice regardless. My only major issue is the lower legs, they seem too skinny for the rest of the body.
Thanks, RT! Now that you point it out, I can see that. Perhaps if I ever manage to cover the knee gap that could remedy that as well!

Quoting Windfall the Wanderer Hmmm... "The Boards"? "Blizzard's critique on Mocpages"? What is going on with this post, PN99?!
O_o Whoops. Always proofread your posts! Yea, you caught me, these do come out first on the TTV Message Boards, and to save myself time I copy the text, as the process there is basically the same as here!

Quoting Blizzard - Nice work! Ghar looks absolutely fantastic now! Though while the legs still need silver I can see that it would be rather difficult to put it on there, since using silver feet or throwbot parts would add the sudden splash of silver there, which would throw off the color scheme unless you used that lovely silver mask. As for the crossbow, in my opinion, keep it how it is. It looks nice how it is. Anyways, hope to see more soon, pal!
Thanks, Bliz! I'm still on the fence about having the silver mask be his default, but even so I think having less silver would draw more attention up to the mask itself. I also don't use the silver shins at all really, but I can look into some subtle silver details on the legs!

Quoting Michael Elder As you said, it's most ideal for the silver shin guards there for when he has his silver mask. Other options would be silver pipe greebles or other pieces, and if you think the bohrok eye juts out a bit, maybe use a thin technic beam instead. Still an improvement. I look forward to your mocaversary post. And yes, I came out of sudden retirement just to comment on this.
Thanks dude! I appreciate your out-of-retirement-briefly comment!
