Cessna O-2A Skymaster.
The Cessna O-2 Skymaster (nicknamed "Oscar Deuce") is a military version of the Cessna 337 Super Skymaster, used for forward air control (FAC) and psychological operations (PSYOPS) by the US military between 1967 and 2010.
About this creation
I have a weak spot for odd looking aircrafts, so the Cessna 337 Skymaster with its push-pull engine configeration and twin tail-booms, has always had my interest as a model subject. I wanted it to fit my other range of aircrafts so it`s build to 1:40 scale. Major challenges for this model was: the mainwing shape and the propeller. The main wing shape is done by use of hinges inside the wing. Most of the wedge gap is covered by 1x2 tiles. I found no suitable 2 blade propeller, 7 stud dia. , in LEGOs range of propellers. For my civil Cessna 337 Skymaster, I made a brickbuilt one, just to see if it was possible, and I`m actually quite pleased with the result. For this one I have modified a 9 stud dia. two blade propeller into a 7 stud diameter. I`ve added a self-adhesive printed template onto each propeller blade and sanded off the excessive area. With this modified propeller I was also able to add a spinner.

About the Skymaster:

Crew: 1/2

Powerplant: two 157kw (210hp) Continental IO-360-GB flat-six piston engines.

Performance: max speed 336 km/h (206mph); range 2288km (1422 miles); service ceiling 5485m (18.000ft)

Dimensions: wingspan 11.63m (38ft 2in); length 9.07m (29ft 9in); height 2.79m (9ft 2in)

Weight: 2100kg (4630lb) maximum take-off weight

This aircraft looks really cool in the air. To get the real airborne impression I made a stand for it. A little trial and error was nescesary to find the right center of gravity, and by use of a mixel balljoint it is able to swiwel around the top of the stand. All photos are taken using this stand. The photos are then edited to cut away the stand and this rather dull background, to put the plane on a pretty blue sky.

Quoting Per Bonde Hi Henrik. I just saw this Saab 21 on the lego car blog: https://thelegocarblog.com/2016/07/06/flatpack-hot-rod/. Looking good. Hope it doestn't deter you! Og tak for din sommerhilsen. Vejret bliver forhåbentlig bedre....
Stefan Johanssons SAAB 21R is so far unmatched, and he has set a very high level for doing anything better. But I`m not afraid of trying to make my own version. We have quite different building styles, particularly for the wings, and I never go for adding mini-figs to my models. For the moment I`m working on some H0 train stuff, so it will take some time before I get to the SAAB 21. PS. thanks for the extra like!

Quoting Oliver Becker Again a wonderful airplane right down to the last detail, Henrik! But the icing on the cake are the Snoopy- decals... ;)
Thank you my friend! I like to spend a little time making the decals for my aircraft models, I think they are vital for the overall finish, so I`m glad you noticed Snoopy on the nose-section.

Quoting jim mcdonough well i have to say this is way better than the 337(and that was faultless) whether its the colours that make the difference, with the tail one colour it looks smoother, the dark glass gives a better effect and the 1x1 glass on the fuselage just a nicer overall effect it has on the finished aircraft, like the fact you did build it in bricks,(should have posted the 2 together)DONT SHOOT adds a nice touch another beautiful example of lego at its best from you, cheers jim
Thank you so much for another delightful comment from you! For the 337 I couldn`t get the wedge-plates for the tail rudders in red, and I`m trying to keep painting at an absolute minimum, so I settled for the white ones, but I agree the grey ones on the O-2A look more smooth. Cheers to you too!

Quoting Per Bonde Great job Henrik. I really like the way you go all-in for details! Glad to see you got around to make some push-pull planes. Not a Saab though :-) Like your picture-editing, but my fav picture is the one on the stand. Overall 2 perfect Skymaster builds. Congrats! Per, Denmark
Thank you very much for this delightful comment Per! I haven`t forgotten about the SAAB J21, and it`s still one I have to add to my collection sooner or later. I`m very happy with this little plane, and enjoy the airborne look provided by the stand.

Quoting David Roberts Great to see the military version of this aircraft from you too. I was hoping that you'd make this when you published your red and white civilian version.
Thank you David! It took me a great deal of time to finish it, because I missed some pieces and I had to modify the propellers to fit this model. Also the photo editing was quite time consuming, but I think it was worth the effort!
