Since visiting the Empire State Building and seeing Sean Kenney's version at the top of the tower, I've been determined to build my own. I've been busy with a big project for a while now (several years in the making), but I wanted to take a break to post something different. Designed via LDD with over 7,000 pieces and built over 14 hours, this is my largest building to date. I designed this piece with many SNOT techniques to create a completely studless creation, with the exception of the decorative round plates at the top of the tower. This creation ended up requiring a great deal of trans-gray 1x1 plates (so much that only one bricklink store in the world had the required inventory). In fact, in total, the tower includes over 3,800 1x1 plates (over half the pieces). At 31 inches tall, this is my tallest creation to date; I hope you enjoy the pictures.
Great version that is incredibly accurate for it's small size. I have a bigger version of the ESB posted that was partly inspired (at least the choice of colors) by your creation. I considered taking your approach with extensive use of SNOT but I couldn't get the proportions quite right (I see that you had to make some compromises as well especially on the sides of the building). Looking forward to more creations from you.
