AV-17 Kestrel. The latest in Vertical Takeoff technology.
About this creation
Introducing the AV-17 Kestrel. This Attack Vertical aircraft is the future in ground support. Able to carry various ordinances, striking any target where deployed. Enjoy.
A front view of the aircraft. I went for a very sleek profile.
A front oblique view. Here you can definitely get a good idea about the overall structure and the design I use for my missiles, which are being featured for the first time. The wing pylons were actually designed for the Grifon but were never used.
A side view. Again, very sleek and low profile was the game. I wanted to keep the "drooping nose" concept as a style cue from my old work. Othere than that this is brand new. I eliminated the rotating wingtip thrusters altogether.
Working landing gear. More on that later.
Not really sure how the aileron got crooked, and it bothers me it made it into the final cut. This was the thing that held this design up a couple weeks, along with the landing gear. I got the idea from the F4, which I've always loved. I'm not entirely satisfied, and may revisit it later.
The Kestrel in "Stowed" configuration. The mechanism to allow this is quite delicate, and doesn't allow the wing to fold as much as I'd like. I may revisit this as well, but I like the concept.
Top view. Not as "sexy" a view, but showed off a cohesive colour scheme and design.
Bottom view. Carries the colour scheme and also shows off the retracted landing gear which although flush, doesn't allow for flaps to cover the structure. Another design feature which may get more attention in a future revision. The thrusters for VTOL are shown at the base of the wing pylons.
Rapier Squadron in flight.

Well that's it for now! Hope you enjoyed my latest design from the ISA series.

A very neatly and smoothly shaped aircraft. I like how there aren't any big gaps between the panels and how it delicately balances on its two feet (cleverly done!). The stripes are a great way of breaking up the dark grey and work very well. An excellent machine. Your comments are always my favorite. :-) You're very thorough and I like reading them. This was one of those spur of the moment designs. I like it. :-)

I couldn't figure out how to quote you back, Jack Sparrow, so I just say that yeah I will get around to building and subsequently posting! Thanks for your own inspiring MOCs! I look forward to seeing your work! It's always awesome when someone appreciates your work/art, so I'm happy to be of service! :-)

Great shape, like flatened bird. If there was a video I would expect to walk on those legs when grounded. That's an interesting concept and fits with the looks of the design. Thank you for the comment! :-)

This is inspiring. I always liked these kind of flying vehicles, and it reminds me of something that I need to finally post at some point. Then get building! :-D I'm glad you can take some inspiration off of this. I've been inspired by great builders over the years, myself!

Really great design! And I have to disagree that I think the top view is one of my favorites! I like how the engines peek up at you and the great color blocking is most visible from that angle. I'm glad you disagree, and appreciate the feedback! :-D

Cool ship! Just the right amount of details. I really like the landing gear too. Thank you! Landing gear has never been my strong suit so it's good to get positive feedback there! :-)

That's one badass-looking jet, Jack, but somehow elegant at the same time. Fabulous design! Appreciate the feedback! I was actually going for that very thing. Looking at a few of the aircraft over the years, some have had both teeth and elegance.
