About this creation
Warden's diary, chapter seven: Monarth's wake up call.

My flight had ended. I no longer felt wind hitting my eyes, but it didn't feel like I had landed anywhere either. I was floating. Unsure of what to expect, I opened my eyes slowly. A vast darkness opened before my eyes and there I was, floating in the middle of emptiness. Looking around I saw only pitch black. I summoned my staff to shed light into the darkness.

Still nothing.

My lantern was of no help. I dematerialised my staff again. As it stood, I couldn't rely on vision here. There had to be something else. If I couldn't observe my surroundings, then I should observe myself. This had to be still somewhere in my mind, right?

However... As far as I know, I was thrown out of the dreamscape. My thoughts wouldn't help either... What else do I have?

I sneezed. For that very instant my flames flared largely and shrank back to their normal state.

My flames...? Why did they react like that? I thought they reacted to the state of the sea... Yet they gave a physical reaction to my sneeze. It seemed like my flames were the only thing off the usual in this realm. It felt farfetched, but it was the only shot I had for the moment, so I concentrated... and my flames grew larger from my will.

Yes! Finally something to work with. Next experiment. I reached out to my arm flames. They didn't burn as usual, but it turned out I could grab them and hold a ball of my unique fire in my hand. I wondered what else could I do.

The fireball I was holding flickered a little as I looked at it. I decided to drop it so I could see how deep does this void go. To my surprise it stopped right by my feet. I suddenly realised I was standing on something instead of floating in the void. My feet felt wet, yet I saw nothing. I could hear a gentle sound of water around me, but in this void it was just confusing... If a tiny ball of fire created sound and sensation, what would a large one do...?

I reached behind my head with both hands and grabbed two more fireballs from my headflames and put them together into a single large ball. I slammed it on the ground. A circle of my fire began spreading out, revealing shallow water all around me until the flames gave out in a good distance. I looked around. Black water everywhere. I looked down and the water was reaching my ankles. I could see my feet, so it was just the water reflecting the darkness. I summoned my staff and lantern again, trying to see if it would reveal anything new.

Nothing. Just a vast plain of water until it vanishes into darkness. At this point all the questions began to arise...

M: "I don't think this is the dreamscape anymore..."
???: "No, it is not."

My eyes widened for a moment from the surprise. The voice sounded familiar. It sounded near, but echoed around me, making me unable know if the speaker was here or not. Just a voice hovering in the air.

M: "Were you the one who called me here?"
???: "Yes, I was. Thank you for hearing my call. And please accept my deepest apologies... I didn't expect to send you into a deep slumber when I contacted you."
M: "So it was you responsible for that blast?"
???: Umm... Yes and no... It's a little hard to explain right now, but we'll get there. I'm guessing you have plenty of confusions about this place, so how about we advance one question at a time?
M: "Alright then... Let's start with the obvious one. What is this place?"
???: "This realm is a representation of your soul, similar to the realm that represents the mind, dreamscape. You may call this the 'soulscape'.
M: "Why is it all black?"
???: "As you haven't been aware of your soul, this place lacks form right now. As you probably noticed, you have the power to give it form."
M: "But I thought my flames represented the sea?"
???: "That was a misunderstanding on your behalf, your own conclusion from observing it. In reality you possess the flames of soul. You have the ability to be a soul warden. You are my only hope."

M: "Uhh... this is a lot to process... But what do you mean by 'only hope'? I'd say it's time you answer this: What do you want from me?"
???: "I want you to save me..."
M: "What do you mean?"
???: "The realm of soul wardens is dying, as is my purpose to exist... It can no longer sustain itself and has begun to collapse and merge with yours. The blast you took came from this collapsing world... I made it slip through so I could make contact to your soul, but I did not expect what happened to you then. I kept the link for these three years by slipping into your dreamscape, so that we could have this discussion. However I could not keep my form and was transformed by your mind into something you deemed natural: the kirkans. With that split conciousness I tried my best to communicate, but your state was too strong. Unfortunately keeping that connection may have rushed the merging of our worlds..."

M: "And what does saving you merit?"
???: "I am the only soul warden in existence. Should I cease to be along with my realm, there will no longer be anyone to heal souls."
M: "Isn't that what I and the other wardens do?"
???: "No. You may heal the minds and bodies, but only I can aid in the healing of a broken soul. You probably haven't seen it, but the souls on your island are restless. But your flame of souls does know."

I took a moment to process all this. If my flames didn't react to the sea, then they must've reacted to the state of the souls all this time... I could tell there was a lot of work ahead. I made my decision.

M: "Very well. I'll take your word and see to it that you'll make a safe escape."
???: "You have my deepest gratitude. Now please hurry... My time is running out."

I nodded and prepared for my departure.

M: "I'll be there. I believe leaving the soulscape is no different from the dreamscape, right?"
???: "Yes. And before you go, may I know the name of my savior?"
M: "My name is Monarth. I am the Dream Warden. May I know yours?"
???: "My name shall be your reward once you find me."

The voice sounded pleasant while saying this. I sneered a little. Way to keep me motivated on task.

M: "I'll see you soon."

I began fading from the soulscape. Three years of waiting had lead to this moment, to this mission. If our worlds really were at stake, the home I'd wake up to will be different from how I remembered it. I closed my eyes as I finally vanished. I embraced the darkness once more, but this time I'd wake in the world I belong to...

Hooray for trans-purple! o/ When I got my hands on the new Onua and Terak, it was impossible to resist upgrading Monarth. I spent some time researching other mocers' techniques and took some inspirations from them while I modified him. I'm personally loving the results. The details and shaping are on a whole new level for me.

I think this is Monarth's V11... V9 if you start counting from his reptilian form. He's had his fair share of changes.

Did you like this moc? Leave a comment and a like if you did. Until next chapter. Cheers.

So sorry I missed this but yeah. When it comes to things like this, with supernatural beyond the typical of the universe, such as these Wardens, I tend to get interested.

Quoting Wondering Person Soul Warden? Interesting...I noticed in Obacus's entry that it states that only a god can give birth to one. And in the first one, Monarth's entry, it states that there were "three tribes of sea, sky and forest". But that they've gone silent, and the gods joined in their absence. I can't help but notice you capitalized Eternal and Night in Eternal Night from Monarth, perhaps something else..? If I continue it'll take two months to read :P Anyways, I'm very, very interested and look forward to more.
Dayumn, we've got a keen reader over here :D I'm glad you enjoy my stuff :)
