LOM MBC - Siege Preparation
In Zorthan, Darvainian ordered to prepare for a siege.
About this creation

The Dwarves are among us, and if they manage to make large scale weapons, Nerogue is going to be ready.

A large siege tower was made so that they could practice combatting and using it if the need arose.

They even put up a dwarven flag where they were training.

Absolutely stunning. This is amazing on so many levels. The siege tower has such good little additions that brings it together so well. The wheels, the spikes, the SNOT studs pulls it with a really slick texture(don't mind my drooling). The wall and floor texturing, inside and out is lovely. 15/10!

The crenellations are by far my favorite parts. Not only are they sized to fit an archer each, the details on the front convey intentional architectural detail while still matching the irregular texture of the lower wall.

After some debate, the staff has settled on the score of highest four ever recorded. We were on the edge between a four and a five. The siege tower is wonderful, there are lots of little details and the underground texture and courtyard texture are great. However, we weren't quite as impressed with the stonework, and wondered why the back wasn't textured. (Lack of pieces?) There is a fair bit of ingenuity involved in this moc, but isn't as obvious or plentiful as in previous Mocs with a score of 5. In the end, the somewhat unrealistic flatness and almost complete greenness of the landscape is what pushed you down to an extremely high four. This was not an easy decision though and the vote was not unanimous. Though not quite up to a 5, this is still an excellent moc well above the LOM standard.

Thank you! Sorry to hear you're losing interest in the hobby, but don't force it, it may come back to you in a few years or so. Just keep a few bricks or a set in sight :)

Thanks a bunch man! I like how the top part turned out as well. Glad you like the functionality!
Quoting Promar
Thanks a ton Promar! Glad you like the various details here. Thanks for pointing out the underground part where the wall is because initially I didn't think of it about it until after looking at some cross sections of castles.

Quoting Armon
Thanks Armon! I like how that part turned out as well. It kind of needed to be on an angle too else the siege tower would be overpowering.

Thanks Noel! Yeah, it is pretty big! I started out with the siege tower so I'd know what kind of wall it would face.

Quoting Mariner 1000 Well done! The siege-tower is, IMO, flawless. I think this MOC would look better if the back of the wall had a bit of texture to it and the landscape was a little less flat but it's still none the less an excellent creation.
Thanks, I appreciate it! Well, yeah, of course the back of the wall would look better if it were textured, but I wanted to have something in the back and a tiled wall was my only option at that point. While not great, it's better than a facade. I disagree about the flatness though. Ground elevation is relative to location, so making the ground less flat wouldn't make the scene better, just different. The landscape being more flat works very well with my CCC entry which had the siege tower up against the wall. Siege towers wouldn't be put up near a wall where it was less level. I like the 1-3 plate elevation changes here because it fits the scene. Still, you think it would look better if it wasn't how it is, so thank you for sharing your thoughts.

All sorts of cool stuff to enjoy here, Chief! I like your use of the large tiles mixed into the stone work. Almost creates a forced perspective depth. And that siege tower is probably the best I've seen. Deadly!

Such an impressive build David! The details and textures are incredible, the walls, the terrain, and underground section. The details on the top part of the wall are very nice. The siege tower is equally as impressive, so many details and the functionality of it is great!

Super job David! Stunning wall work, I love the extensive used of flat plates for stone representation. I also appreciate the fact that you went below the surface (literally) in both the wall and the ground. You've put some completely amazing detail and thought into this whole project. The landscape too... Spiffy ;) Wow. A big "well done!" to you, please keep it up! God bless, ~Promar~
