LTC2.0 Victorion Part 1: Pyra Magna
Well, itís long overdue, but well worth the wait. Once again, I checked whether anyone else had made a Lego version of her before, and once again the answer is no. These IDW Fembots seem to be getting hardly any love at the moment. For those who are reading this, I urge you to make some. Arcee doesnít count. Neither does Chromia. Elita Oneís okay. That aside, this project has been extremely spaced-out because of the huge exam workload that Iíve had recently. I was also unable to complete the final segment until recently due to a case of swine flu, which I am still recovering from. Thankfully, I have indeed managed to complete all five members of the Torchbearer team, and my goodness did they turn out good. The combined mode isnít as big as Devastator, not because sheís shorter, but because Devastatorís supposed to tower over everyone. If I ever do a Bruticus or Menasor (as for him, I have the idea of making the Stunticons based on Japanese Robots, such as having Motormaster based on one of the Evas), theyíd be the same size as her. Oh, and if youíre wondering about the upload schedule, donít worry. As with Devastator, there will be one part added each day with an included LDD file, all the way up to day six with the combined form. Lots to say, lots to do: letís just jump right into it!

Starting off with the LDD, you can see that the colours are a little different from the original design.

Turquoise and red can be a little jarring at times, so instead Iíve gone with plain old blue, and a little bit of white.

The white doesnít really appear anywhere else but the trailer, creating a group of white highlights on the torso while the limbs remain red and blue.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Victorionís vehicle mode is completely different from the Hotspot-retool design she has in her original toy. Instead, She becomes a truck with a huge battle-station trailer.

The battle station is basically an excuse to keep all the combiner kibble in one place. The idea I had was to have a trailer combine with her robot mode to form the torso. Although the plan was to have a G1-Optimus style trailer, this works just as well.

The trailer does in fact rotate, and this time there isnít an adaptor piece left off to the side that doesnít get anything to do.

Please note that there are some changes to the shoulder and thigh designs, allowing for better stability and articulation. Iíll go into more detail on the thighs later in this MOC, and youíll see the redesigned shoulders when I get to Dustup in part four.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Victorionís trailer can detach and support itself using two feet that pop out from the sides and rotate around. No, literally. They are in fact the combiner feet. Small, but they work.

Being blunt, this thing is packed with guns. Not going to bother counting how many.

What I will bother to focus on is the back section, where the head forms a turret in a similar fashion to Devastatorís head when it was attached to Steamhammer.

It rotates a full 360 degrees. Itís a small feature, but it works.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now to get a closer look at Victorionís truck segment, with all sorts of curves being present.

When I was designing her truck mode, I wanted it to be a hybrid of the Hotspot mould with a curved front and a typical Optimus Prime toy with a trailer hitch on the back. Eventually, I came up with this design. It took a few tries, however. Youíll be able to see a previous attempt later on.

The back part has some sloping grate tiling that partially comes from the chains seen on the back of movie Prime. To be honest, though, those parts only exist to fill out the combined mode.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Funny thing, this video is the first one uploaded to use Adobe Premiere Pro. I kinda got bored of using Imovie, and Iíd been using Premiere Pro in school for a while now. Also, my dad has a copy, so we use the same account. As for the transformation, itís fairly simple. Well, except for the chest. I was insistent on having the windshield form the chest, and it needed to fold downwards. It turned out wonderfully. Well, except for the partsforming with the bumper, but that part becomes combiner kibble anyway so no big deal.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Victorionís robot mode is decently proportioned (other than a bit of gorilla arm syndrome with the lower arms), and there isnít much kibble anywhere on the body (other than the aforementioned forearms).

Her articulation is decent as well, with T joints for the shoulders, clip joints at the hip and those joints that rely on offsetting the tiles and allowing for rotation at both the elbows and knees.

Thereís also no back kibble, aside from the part that allows the bumper to plug in. At the same time, though, the back is filled in well enough.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Itís now time to separate the battle station trailer into the combiner kibble sections.

In total, there are 16 sections that clip together to form the trailer. Each one of these sections also clips onto the robot mode, after itís been slightly transformed. Well, except for the hands and feet. They clip onto their respective limbs.

This back segment is clearly an adaptor, but thankfully it manages to clip onto the back of the gestaltís back with no problem.

Those pegs that were once holding the combiner feet will eventually hold Skyburstís propellers in combined mode.

The upper torso is formed mostly by these huge cannon pieces. I got the idea from the Striker Eureka (Pacific Rim). Hereís to hoping that film does not get a sequel, because the first one was too good to tarnish. Oh, who am I kidding, at the time of writing this Del Toro is handing in his script next week!

These pieces clip onto the torso with some offset tiles, located on Pyra Magnaís arms.

This middle section fills out the abdomen section, so as to make it seem less hollow. Itís a weird piece thatís hard to spot on the trailer, as it is in fact neatly hiding under the adaptor.

To fill in the lower part of the torso, these sections clip in under the gun segments.

While this becomes the pelvis armour. What? Were you expecting me to call it something else? ANATOMY, PEOPLE!

Okay, here comes our first issue. After making Dustup, I realised that there had to be a ratchet joint added to these shoulder pieces. Youíll see them in the LDD file provided below (and in the images above) as well as the combined mode, but these photos were taken months ago, and nothing can be changed at this point. Just know that a better design was made, and youíll see that design when we get to the arm-bots.

These pieces thankfully had no change. They wrap around the upper thighs to form the lower section that pegs onto the leg-bots.

And here comes our second issue. These segments were in fact rephotographed after I designed this, but not before I dismantled Pyra Magna. Youíll see images of these segments below, after the torso mode. As to what they do, they peg into the hips and form the upper thighs.

This is Victorionís head in turret mode.

And this is Victorionís head in head mode! Go figure! I made this head a lot more accurate to the IDW comics than my interpretation of Devastator. Although many creative liberties were still taken, this wasnít one of them.

The hands and feet will not be combining with the torso, because that would be silly. This is not a Beastformer, and we are most certainly not in the Beast Wars 2 or Beast Wars Neo era in Japan. Limbs are not chest kibble.

The insides of the hands by the way, each have pegs for swords (which I havenít bothered to design, at all).

The fingers are also individually articulated! Sadly, there are only four fingers instead of five. Or is it three instead of four? Do thumbs count?

The feet themselves donít contain ankle tilts, but trust me: the combiner limbs have the necessary engineering to make up for that. By that, I mean the ankle tilt is on the limb side of the equation, rather than the foot. Itís not Devastator! DOES THIS LOOK LIKE THE ICE CREAM MAN?! NO! THIS IS THE BURGER KING EMPLOYEE! (Cue Raptortalon laughing.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Iíve basically explained where all the parts go, so this is just a visual representation of that to prove that it does in fact work. Once again, I was working with Adobe Premiere. Iíve gotta say, itís so much easier to work with.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The combined mode is huge. Not Devastator huge, but still huge. And heavy too. Really heavy for its size. Pretty dense.

Lots of tabs cover up hidden areas through the engineering of the main cab, and then the armour pieces basically finish it off.

The back section may look barren for now, but it wonít once it gets the helicopter blades.

And, well, thatís it for the main section of this MOC. The rest is just bonus features.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You can see here that the redesigned thighs involve better articulation through the use of T-joints. I wonít go into the details of the older version.

The upper thighs are essentially the same, and so are the clips for the waist, but thereís now a new mechanism that allows for both rotation and outward motion without inhibiting the forward and backward movement.

They clip on exactly the same way. Wait, is that Pyra Magna? I thought Iíd dismantled her at this point! Why didnít I rephotograph! I DEMAND A REFUND!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These last few photos are of my first attempt at making Pyra Magna. It didnít go so well.

Although the vehicle mode looks okay, wait till you seeÖ

Öthis monstrosity. Wait, no. The photo hasnít shown up yet. Wait till you seeÖ

ÖTHIS MONSTROSITY! OH NO! THE HORROR! THE HORROR OF ONE OF DECLANíS FIRST CRAPPY ATTEMPTS! IT FAILS ON SO MANY LEVELS!

Seriously, this would be worthy of Lost in Time, if it ever got past the torso stage. I scrapped it because it looked so ugly. There was no saving it.

Thereís another awful WIP later on in this collection, but thankfully the actual Torchbearers are all pretty sweet. Tune in tomorrow for Jumpstream, and the day after for Skyburst, and so on. Until then, make sure to like, comment and add me as a favourite builder to keep up to date on all my releases. And trust me, my releases after Victorion are going to be some awesome requests: one from TTVMB (where Iíll be posting my MOCs after I post them here) and one from a guy who I wonít mention yet.

Also, if you know who it is, donít tell anyone. Itís a secret.

Quoting Scott Bourgeois The truck and robot look awesome! Dunno about that trailer, but it's nice to see that it's sectional. I'm not familiar with the IDW stuff, but as for a Transformer, this one gets 93/100. :) Awesome job, Declan!
Thanks man. Victorion is the first all-female Combiner in the Transformers franchise. I voted for the stuff, and thankfully I got my choice for gender, personality and origin. Shame about her arms both being helicopters, though. Hence why it'll be a little different here.

Quoting Traykar the swift I apologize if I come across as rude, but the Truck mode is very confusing. The torso mode and the robot mode are however, fantastic!
No problem. It's supposed to be a cross between Hotspot and Optimus Prime.

Also, who can spot H3//rider in the background! Had to say it with the numbers and such due to MOCpages regulations.
