This was made for a Lego contest held at Florida State University where they gave people two hours to build whatever they wanted with a bunch of Lego boxes full of all kinds of bricks.
About this creation
Apologies for the low quality pictures, Mocpages' uploader is one of the worst things I've ever seen.
So I knew I wanted to go to this Lego event, but when I found out it was a competition I had no idea what to build. I'm no expert with your average 2x2's and 2x4's, but I still wanted to do something. It was the number of translucent red parts that sparked the idea of a lightsaber in my head, and somehow I was able to find enough to build it! Hope you enjoy!
Light saber vertical shot.
Light saber horizontal shot.
Action poses. I built it sideways so it is fairly stable.
Allowing for many poses and even air swings without risk of damaging it.
Of course I wouldn't recommend using it in a sword duel, heh heh.
I was very happy to find that my creation ended up winning first place in the competitions. The top 3 winners and an honorable mention's creations are now on display in front of the movie theatre area of FSU's Student Life Building. It will stay there until the competition is held again next year.
Here is the light saber on display, slightly covering the 2nd place winner.
Here is the 3rd place winner, sitting next to the honorable mention.
And here I am holding my blade and my prizes! I won a promotional "The Interview" cup as well as a $25 gift card to a fun activity place in Tallahassee that I do not recall the name of. But the biggest prize was the build itself, which I probably wouldn't have 100% completed if not for the help of my cousin Christian who helped find as many trans-red bricks as possible.
FINAL NOTE: For the super geeks who will point out the hilt is not designed 100% like Kylo Ren's, I'm sorry. I was too lazy to look at reference photos and just built a pretty standard hilt.
thou this is pretty sweet and I realize why the middle is white I think instead of doing that, you should have done a black liner I believe this would have made it quiet sturdy...oh by the way COME BACK TO MOCPAGES!!!!!
