It was dark and musty, due to not being allowed to have lights in the cave. “It’s time,” came a voice from in front of me. For some reason it made me shudder, in fear. Looking up, seeing the man, who then nodded, at me. I knew what he meant but I wished, and acted as if I didn’t. “Do I go up now?” I asked. The man in front of me, who was named Merek nodded. Yes Alex, It is. Alex shoulders slumped and turned his eyes downward. “Garren, Daniel, get the ladder!” said Merek in a semi loud voice. Merek taller than the average man but rather scrawny looking, but Alex knew that he wasn’t scrawny at all. He was the head of this operation. The two men immediately moved without hesitation toward the ladder, picked it up and shoved it toward the roof. It bust through a few boards. Dirt and small stones feel on top of them stinging there skin. I immediately jumped onto the ladder, pausing a little bit as it wobbled. Then shot up the ladder with amazing speed that surprised myself.
Pausing at the end of the ladder nervous about what was above me. Below Merek was in a conversation with John, an average captain large build carrying a sword but no shield. He was wearing simple chain mail shirt, with a tough leather sleeves. John looked at Merek; he noticed that he was shaking his head.
“What is it?” asked John.
“Your squire, why did you choose him to go first?” Replied Merek
“He is one of the best swordsmen in Nerogue, If not the best.” Remarked John.
“But, he is a little….” Said Merek but he was cut off by John “Fearful? If I remember correctly you were very much the same at you first battle.”
“All I remember is that I killed around 50 people, and wounded the rest of the 100 people that were there.” Said Merek.
“What I remember you were hiding behind a tree, shooting horrid shots, and there were only 15 of them not 150.” Replied John
“Whatever, well your turn to go now.” Replied Merek Gesturing up the ladder
Above them Alex overheard there whole conversation and it made him even more fearful of what was about happen. He had busted open through the dirt and the support boards into the open air. It was night, though it wasn’t pitch black yet. He looked around scanning his surroundings there was a smaller structure made of wood and stone he looked to his left and saw the prize, the bank. Right where it was supposed to be, he was about to get up and go toward it but he noticed three guards in front of the doors. Two were me, one had a large beard that covered most of his face and chest the other was clean shaven and was carrying an axe. The third was a goblin, carrying a single bladed sword with a notch at the top of it.
He shot out of the hole, remaining as silent as he could. He kept facing the man, he slowly began to approach. Approaching the edge of the ruins he accidently stepped on a branch. As he stepped on it he immediately felt it and picked his foot up as quickly he could. He didn’t crack it, but he lost his balance and fell painfully onto the ruins. He quickly got back up to his feet, but not quick enough. The goblin was the first to act, h turned around and sprinted strait toward me. I quickly brought my sword up to defend myself. I heard something behind me I risked a quick glance backward. It was John, he was struggling to get out of the tunnel because of his large form.
The other two men acted a lot slower, one ran straight at John the other went for the door. Presumably to warn other Enalicans indoors. The other man was carrying a large club. He was walking with a slight limp.
John moved to engage the other man who came to attack them; he stopped a few feet away from me and the goblin. As he did this the goblin brought down a hard cut that slammed into my blade shooting me backwards towards the tunnel. I was barely able to catch my balance before I hit the ruins. that would’ve been Ruinous for me if that happened. I quickly shot back into action glancing to the right seeing Merek pulling back an arrow on the string. He fired, the goblin tried to dodge it but he was t slow the arrow came at him and struck him in between his eyes. I glanced toward John to see if he needed any help, but he had just put his blade in the man’s stomach.
The rest of the rangers came up rather quickly. The two dead bodies were laying on the ground, now unnoticed. This made me sad, the lack of mercy for our enemies. But this was war, and there was only one way man knew how to win. Kill, kill and kill more, Carnage everywhere. Would there never be peace? A voice finally broke me from these thoughts. “Should we go in or secure the gates?” Came the voice which sounded like Johns. “No we take the bank then go for the gates. If we capture the leader there men will be demoralized, and may surrender.” Answered Merek . “Well then we should go in then.” Added Merek.
The proceeded to walk toward the door, in no formation at all. They came to the steps and stopped weapons drawn. They heard the creaking of the door, and someone stepped out.
There were two them one was the man who had ran into to building earlier, The other man was taller, hobbled due to a peg leg and had longer hair and a very well kept beard. The
then two other figures appeared one a man with a scraggly beard, the other figure was a female about ten years older than me, she was bound by thick ropes. “Surrender or she dies.” Shouted the man with the peg leg, the man other man with the beard put his knife to the woman’s neck. She let out a pitiful sob, and the man pressed the blade tighter against her neck. The rest of the rangers had drawn there bows and had arrows set against the taught stings ready to be fired. “Tell your men to drop here weapons or she dies!” the man shouted again. Lthis time there was a response from the men, they acted as if they were putting their weapons down, but I doubted if they were.
It happened so quickly, didn’t see what happened. But I saw what came of it. All three of the men were laying limply on the steps with arrows protruding from their chests. I then knew what had happened. Right as they were lowering their weapons the fired, killing the three men. The forth ranger had jumped up there to protect the woman if need be. But there was no need for it.
The man cut the woman’s ropes, and she immediately jumped to her feet. “Ar, are they gone?” she asked fear evidently in her voice. “Yes they are gone.” Merek Replied. She seemed like she was a prisoner but I doubted it, he seemed scared but her face was calm under her tears. Is she faking it or was she really a prisoner, I must get to the bottom of this.
:--:To be continued:--:
The whole build without minifigures.
The smaller house.
The cave and barrels.
Builders notes-This build was really fun, and frustrating at times. the cave was hard because I added it on after the bas of the build was done. and the roof of the bank nearly drove me mad because I couldn't figure out how to build it. But in the end I think it came out rather nicely, but tell me what you think.
~To God be the glory~
That cave is awesome. And though the upper landscape is a bit lacking, I really like the architecture here. Nice work on the house, too, but showing the bare side of it probably wasn't a good choice. :P Anywho, keep it up!
Wow, that is awesome! The rockwork below is great, I like the angled part! The bank architecture looks fantastic, and the rest of the detailing up top including the building on the side are excellent. Awesome job!
Fantastic build, Joel! I love those columns and the cave is well done. The story is good as well, however, I'd suggest reading through it before posting next time. There were a few errors, like switching between third and first person, as well as a few grammatical ones. :) Great work!
