1971 Dodge Challenger R/T
I decided to do the Challenger because it's my wife's favorite muscle car. To be honest, the old Chargers/Challengers/Darts never really did anything for me personally (I thought they were just big boxes with engines). A year later and my opinion is entirely different. I love this car!
About this creation

Coming off the Corvette build I thought, "how tough could this one be? After all, it's just a big box." But what I learned early on was that, unlike the Vette, this car is all about subtle details and shaping. I can't tell you how many times I started over on the front grille or the quarter panels because they started to look Cuda or Camaro-ish.

When I started the build I didn't know this car inside and out the same way I did with the Vette, but now that I do, I have a new appreciation for these Mopar classics. I'm especially thrilled that my wife likes the Sublime Green as much as I do!

I'll be posting more renders at some point, and I'm getting together all the pieces I'll need to build it, so keep an eye out for the real deal soon.

any chance this will become an LDD dwnload somewhere?

426 Hemi, very nice! You should also put a pistol grip floor shifter in it and a clutch, making it a 4 speed manual transmission. The most popular tranny.

Quoting Rick S. I can't believe I missed this, but I'm not much active on this site anymore. Great job man! Looks great! Pictures of the engine maybe? What's in it? A 383, 440 six pack, or the 426 Hemi? These were the only available engines for an R/T in 1971 ;)
Thanks Rick! No engine in this thing yet (started other projects and just haven't finished it), but the plan is to put the 426 Hemi under there.

What an amazing shaped MOC! You surely have some great building techniques here, congrats for this wonderful replica. I'm glad to know you changed your opinion about the old Dodge muscles. I have a big admiration for the old muscle cars for allowing the general market to buy a affordable powerful car, keeping the quality. The original muscle spirit is lost since the 70's petrol crisis, unfortunately.

Sublime (see what I did there?) shaping! Wonderful stuff
  June 7, 2015
Yet again a masterpiece! Shaping is briljant! I dare to suggest a purist solution and not a painting thing in the front corners. On the other end I quite admire the light angle in the front bumpers!

Quoting Deus "Big D." Otiosus I really like the perfect shape, but how did you do those frontal wedge-slopes that seem to be part lime part black?
Thanks! The black part of those wedges is Photoshopped for now (will have to paint those pieces when it comes time to build). I REALLY wanted to come up with a 100% brick-built color scheme but it just was not to be.

Quoting Parrington Levens Best Challenger I've seen on teh pages. And yeh, glad for your change of heart. This car was anything but a box. Such graceful well thought out lines on this thing and you have captured it well. Even toy cars sometimes miss the getting the shape quite right on this awesome car. Form e, though I've been a Ford driver/fan my whole life, the late 60's Dodges were the most beautiful cool looking cars ever made. That said the 20's up till that time produced great shapes also. BAh, let's face it, cars looked great till the 80's, lol...
Thanks! I'm in total agreement! Cars had some character a few decades ago!

Thank you Matt! I told myself early on that all colors would be done with bricks. the two pieces at the top of the front fenders will need to be painted, but I'm happy with the results for sure.
