Quoting Fell Skyhawk I have such a soft spot for the classic BSG. Very nicely done, as always. I feel like something is off with scale, but I'm too in love with this model and the sudden desire to watch an episode on netflix to figure out exactly why. And I love the fighter with it.
lol, thanks mate, the photos came out looking shadowy and kind of like the way they used to film models in sci-fi, that may be the appeal?

Quoting Marc "Edge" R.unde Dang, forgot to comment on this one! Shame on me... Perfectly done, buddy. The presentation, as well as the build itself are spot on, doing the original great justice. Pefrectly NPU! ~Marc
:) MAn, I lucked out in rnd 3. Bumma, rnd 4 was an open Spacecraft round. I could have gone ballistic! Oh well, maybe just build one anyway. Cheers MArc, yeh, this kinda worked. Makes me want try a GAIA ship at an even smaller scale than normal. So say we all,,,

Congrats... onto round 3! But I must confess, that little viper is my favorite, as you well may have guessed when I made it one of my Flickr favorites! :)

Quoting VAkkron ™ As the substitute judge, I have the swing vote. This is THE toughest decision of the round, and in my opinion your opponent's vessel is at par with yours in nearly every way. I first looked at similarity to the source, and then examined building technique. Your techniques impressed me from the inverted slide shoe at the nose to the rocker bearings used as greebling on the launch tubes (I think that's what they're called). Various distinguishing elements give this model personality and I believe it shines amongst the host of Battlestar Galactica vessels on this site. My primary suggestion would be to include a naturally-lit photo in a simple environment. As it is, your model is hard to see and therefore rather difficult to judge. In the end, I made my decision based on aesthetic appeal and general similarity to the subject model, and I pick YOU to advanced to round 3. Congratulations.
Awesome :D Phew, that was close. I was up against a very cool build.

Excellent. Instantly recognisable and nicely textured too. The photo with the two ships, built at different scales, looks great too.

While this is a very amazing build it's nothing new, we've already seen dozens of Battlestar Galactica Mocs over the years therefore my vote goes to your opponent for his more creative and detailed build.

Quoting Nils O. Wow, that's amazing nano scale building. I can't believe how small it is! The Viper is awesome, too. Great job! :-))
:D Yes it was about 38 studs long. Garry King will be furious! lol...

Quoting Stuart Lucas Ah, now this is a beauty - one of the all-time great TV/film spaceship designs, it makes me nostalgic for the era of models rather than CGI! Nice pictures too, although for me the ones of the Viper are a little overexposed. By the way, wasn't your category video game spaceships? Not a problem, you could cite the PS2 Battlestar Galactica game as your source. Great building and good luck!
Cheers Stu :) Yes, the PS2 game was what made me go for BSG. I still have it lying around. I hated that the levels were so big before you could save. Never got far in that game.

Quoting Chris Phipson Dude! Love it! I think you chose the perfect scale to build this in. The level of detail is perfect! Nice one! ~ Chris.
:D Thanks Chris! Yeh, it has the old school model look. CGI is getting boring. Bring back the cool sci-fi models!

Quoting Clayton Marchetti This so awesome! I love it! The Galactica in micro looks awesome. I love the part you used for the bow section, brilliant! Fantastic job on the Viper too!
:) Yes, that part for the bow was where the whole ship and its scale began. I was just looking at my white parts all over the table thinking, sheesh, Galactica, how the? Then I saw those two, and I only have two, and I thought, oh, that is SO the front of the ship. Cheers mate :)

Quoting Stephan Niehoff OMG dude, so this is now somewhat exaggerated. Not only that you have built an absolutely gigantic fantastic ship. No, it had to be the Galactica. The presentation reminded me very much of the old movies, really exactly the same atmosphere. The ship has become so great, I'm just speechless.
:) I'm so glad to hear that. I wasn't sure if the pics turned out that way, but I really went for some shadowy space imagery here att he risk of hiding too much detail. A fine balance!

Cheers El Barto. I guess there would be. I may have to do an interior at some stage also.
