Story: Niyona lived in a small village of Su-Matoran living on an island off the coast of the Northern Continent. Although reckless, she served as the village's hunter and guard due to her skills in combat, accompanying other Matoran on scouting or scavenging missions outside of the village. Assisting one group to a nearby cave, she and the others discovered a chamber of the cave filled with strange, ancient items. While investigating the items, Niyona discovered a stone with a strange etching in it, containing the letters of her name. Stowing the stone away, she helped the others load the remaining items to be transported back to the village for examination. Later, after the nightly village meeting, Niyona went into the village elder's hut to discuss the strange stone she had found. After a short examination, the Turaga revealed that the stone was likely an inactive Toa Stone and that it was strange that it held the letters to her name, likely that the stone was destined for her. She thanked the Turaga and left the hut. The next day on a hunting mission, she ventured back towards the cave that she had found the stone in, hoping to find answers. The cave remained, but the chamber was nonexistant. After searching for a while, Niyona felt drowsy and fell unconscience. In a vision, she saw a warrior, who appeared similar to the village Turaga, move along the walls of the cave before creating a chamber within the cave, sealing it with an elemental seal and becoming a Turaga. Upon reawakening, Niyona traveled to that spot in her vision and held the stone to the wall. A chamber revealed itself and the stone began to glow. Within that chamber, she felt power flow into her and saw her body transform before her eyes.
She emerged from the cave a new Toa and returned to the village. She traveled directly to the Turaga's hut to tell what had just occurred. The elder was amused, revealing that he was the one who had placed the stone and chamber there for one he deemed worthy of becoming a Toa. She accepted the role with honor, pledging to train with the Turaga until she was ready. After months of training, Niyona left her village for the Northern Continent to join in a New Toa Team. They ventured off to Zakaz to attempt negotiations with the Skakdi for them to stop their attacks on the Northern Continent. The negotiations went bad and the team was forced into a cave. Pursued by Skakdi into the cave, the team was separated into 3 teams of 2. To her horror, Niyona saw her companion abandon her after she was wounded. Niyona was captured by the Skakdi and tortured.
After weeks of torture, Niyona managed to escape her captors, although she was wounded in the chest due to a Skakdi heat blast. She managed to make it back to the Northern Continent where she healed herself over the next weeks. Losing her faith in the honor of the Toa, she left the Toa way of life, becoming a mercenary. She took many jobs, ranging from caravan protection to assassinations, excelling at all missions. She gained prestige and a reputation; however, she also gained a target on her back from the Skakdi whom she had escaped from. She had to constantly fight off groups of Skakdi sent to kill her or recapture her.
When Makuta took over the Matoran Universe, Niyona was caputured within the robot, unable to break free. After the battle, she escaped into the surroundings, despite finding her fellow Su-Matoran. She continued her work as a mercenary. One day, she accepted a job to kill the Toa that had abandoned her on Zakaz, to which she gladly accepted. She worked her way into the Council of Toa headquarters where she found the Toa. About to go into the kill, Niyona found herself surrounded by Toa, many of which she knew were highly capable fighters. She was given the option of returning to the Toa Order, given a chance to redeem herself. She declined the offer, managing to escape, but not before killing the Toa who had abandoned her. She retreated into solitude, rarely taking jobs, knowing that the Toa were now tracking her down. Being encountered on a cliff by a group of Toa sent to capture her, she faked her death, falling off only to transport herself safely to the floor. It was here that she found a partner with a similar story, Asimi. They teamed up as mercenaries and Niyona resumed business, trusting that her newly-found partner would help her.
Jaetaro's Comments: Niyona was a fun build for me. She started as a variation to Jraon's body to create a slimmer torso. After using Sahmad's head as a breastplate, I decided on making another female moc. The orange bit on her torso is supposed to somewhat resemble a corset. In addition, I had the idea that the orange could be armor, while the black could be Niyona's body, but I kind of gave up on that by the end. For the build I decided on a slimmer, simplistic build, yet somewhat complex. (this partially stemmed from my piece shortage)I feel like the build came out really well. My favorite part of the build is probably the chest or the shoulders. NPU of the Vahi? Anyone notice the carrot greeble? :P
Anyways, thanks you for looking at my moc. I am also looking to reboot my mocpages after a long hiatus. I have quite a few mocs to post and would appreciate each and everyone's help. Thank you for those who have stuck with me all this time :)
Again, I like the general aesthetic! the legs are simple, but very effective. The torso is really nice as well, perfect shape for a feMOC. (Good thing you scrapped the whole black is flesh thing, cause this would be awkward, haha.) Yes, the Vahi NPU is really cool, the arms are probably my favorite part of this MOC. Nice mask choice too, the weapons are really neat as well (Yes, I saw the carrot, haha).
