Another gap between posting, huh? This one was shorter than the last gap by a long shot. And hey! Bionicle came back! So I decided to try out a little redesign of the old Toa Nuva body type.
Everybody was doing it. I just caved and hopped aboard the train.
Anywhoo, I decided that, instead of going with any of the original six, I would give Karaku a proper Toa body. No transforming Rock Lions here! Note: The mask/head is a placeholder. I'm going to try to get some of the new sets, and I wanna give him that Protector of Earth mask. I think that'd work quite well.
A shot of the Torso. Main design goal here was to incorporate the Nuva Armor pieces. What's behind that Armor piece, giving it that shape?
Behold! Trickery using that Tri-Axle piece! And yes, those shoulders ARE double-jointed for maximum manoeuvrability!
A shot of the back, with the "Gear-Box" in place.
And that "Gear-Box" removed, so you can see the spine. You can also see some red axles, which I was planning on attaching his wings to. I'll probably do an update photo-shoot once those wings are actually finished.
A quick look at the lower legs -
Followed by a quick look at the back. I'm quite proud of these. Give the legs a nice, relatively organic shape. I also included a couple of pieces on the feet to further cement that this IS meant to be Karaku.
The Sword, which can peg onto the hip, as a way to store it when it isn't in use.
And here's a shot of him actually holding it, which he can do with no problems. Took forever to find those little T-Bar pieces, but WAAAAY worth it!
And so ends another post! This time I will DEFINITELY attempt an update shoot to show off some of the WIP stuff, as well as get rid of that ugly ol' mask.
No story as to HOW Karaku became a Toa, nor why he looks relatively like a Toa Nuva. He just is.
Also, if you see anything you like about this design (I'm particularly proud of the torso/crotch designs myself), feel free to reverse-engineer it from these photos. I will not take it apart, as I won't remember how to put it back together. I'm bad at that.
