Grandstands - Falcon Bracket - Functions
As the opening events take place, the stands and facilities at the center of the complex are going up. Build a section of seats, stalls for food and souvenirs, preparation areas for the competitors, fair-type attractions or a mix of your choosing, and then add some moving parts and functions. The moving parts/function(s) is required. Will you have a working scoreboard, a swiveling booth that gives spectators a view of several competitions, some medieval carnival rides, interactive training equipment or even some traps planted by one team to do harm to others?
About this creation
My Round 1 entry for The Tourney.
Team: The Adolescent Chicken Foundation!
Qinon spars against Jabrei on the Adolescent Chicken Foundation private training field. (He insisted that he needed practice against staff-wielding opponents...). The rest of the team, as well as Qinon's apprentice and some random person passing by, watch the match.
Jabrei dodges one of Qinon's swings... But careful: One misstep, and you loose your foot.
Richard and Elias.
Maeglin, Sorcoth and a goat.
The goat. Cows and pigs are way overrated.
Figless pictures! Not that it matters, since there was no story...
The tree. I like it a lot, but I probably could have done better. And yes, I know it's hard to see in the picture. I apologize in advance for any more bad pictures.
Boulder. It looks better IRL.
The training course! Two people have to spar with each other, and whoever missteps or is hit by their opponent, looses. (Probably more than just the match, too.)
Pine tree! Credit goes to Anthony Wilson. And this time, the tree actually works well with the landscaping color scheme.
The path. Not the best part of the Moc, but that happens when you run out of time...
The tree again. Eh.
The whole moc! Have I mentioned that I love the landscaping? It works really well, in my opinion. It does look very messy from this particular angle, but in the other pictures, it looks great, and it looks even better IRL. Feel free to tell critique in the comments.
Well. This was a hassle to build. As mentioned, my first try to make the spears work ripped apart the whole Moc, so I had to start over. Essentially, I had only one full day and two half-days to build this, and it turned out awesome. Unfortunately, I was really pressed for time, so no pictures to show how the spears work.
And just in case questions come up about the category, one of the options is interactive training equipment, so that's what I did.
The functioning spear trap is awesome, to be sure, but I think the real star of this build is the textured landscaping. Looks fantastic! That pine tree is a great addition. Love the team name too. Good luck.
