Did I say "Master of Fire"? I meant Master of FIIIYYYYYAAAAA!!!
About this creation
Hey there, everyone! I hope you all had a nice New Year's. And with that, welcome to 2015! And with 2015 comes a new BIONICLE! I'm totally excited, as I know others are, and so today I'm here giving you my first ever REVIEW (sort of)! In this review we will be going over Omega Tahu, or Tahu, Master of Fire. Now there are a lot of pictures, but bear with me as I'll try to keep it brief, as many have either seen a review already or own one already.
AS well, I will be going over some modifications I have made to make my Tahu fit my fancy, and hopefully these can give you some inspiration and ideas for future Bionicle MOCs using the new CCBS system.
So without further ado, let's get into the set.
Here it is, the full set out-of-box. With Tahu comes a lime green skull spider and his Golden Mask of Fire.
Side view. The shoulders are a bit back, but it looks okay in my preference.
Front of the lower legs. Nothing special, just some chest armoring, pretty bare and kinda large, but for a set this size it works.
The back is a different story. It is horridly open with an exposed bone element, making Tahu look like he's wearing bell-bottoms...
Upper legs use standard armoring, but with the new Bionicle add-on. Does a decent covering job, but looks a little awkward. His legs also use friction adders, and I believe the reason his feet are silver is to match the grey of the adders (I tried his feet in red...looks terrible).
Close up of the chest, with the unique printing. Worth not polish-removing, in my opinion, the detailing is very tribal and interesting.
Head without the mask, looks very detailed, even has a nose. I'm sure you've all seen the mask function, so I'm not going to go over it.
Back of the body, with the wonderful back armoring.
And of course the gold swords can flip up and move around.
I think it gives him a more dynamic look, so I tend to keep them up.
The beautiful new gear box. Again, I'm not going over the gear function, just know that it holds very well and has lots of friction, although on occasion it is hard to turn and his shoulder pads may catch on the swords if they're up.
For anyone who wants to see it by itself.
Arms are arms. Very basic CCBS, with the new Bionicle add-on. They are a little too short for me, but I lack the one pin bone pieces to fix them.
The new swords pieces, which I could swear look like they came straight from old Bionicle, I LOVE THEM!
And of course they can combine Likhan style...
...and Tahu can ride it.
Here he is with the swords.
Mask comparison, left to right is original Hau, new Mask of Fire, and Stars Hau.
Gold mask comparison with gold Stars Hau.
Here he is with the Golden Mask of Fire.
And a size comparison with my surprisingly close Omega Tahu MOC.
NOW BEGINS THE MODS!
I switched out the boring, plain chest piece for the more detailed Breakout Furno chest piece. It also makes him look more buff.
Gave him the extended armor pieces. The add-ons actually don't stay on too well...
And finally, a simple fix to the horrid looking back legs.
And they still retain decent articulation, with some limited ankle articulation.
For anyone who couldn't see what I did to connect these.
A Skull Spider included. +10 points this time.
But they are pathetic enemies...
I have become the MASTER OF FIYYYAAA!!!!
I also forgot to add the picture, but he CAN hold the new masks in his hands. Just pretend the axel connections on his hands are the holes on the sides of his head, and you'll see.
FINAL VERDICT: It's Tahu, how can you not buy him? Go out and get your Bionicle 2015, people!
I'd like to briefly share my opinion on CCBS. What I wish to say is that I like CCBS a lot, and there is a ton of potential in it is MOCers will just open up to it and utilize it. Get your creative juices flowing! That's what MOCers do, especially good ones: use pieces in new and creative ways. I really look forward to seeing advancements in this system and what you all can do with it as fellow Bio-MOCers, so get your CCBS parts and BUILD SOMETHING AWESOME!
Your upgrades are definitely a good improvement, but the bell bottom problems you had can also be fixed by simply turning it sideways. I always find that useful whenever I'm using CCBS armor & feet, because turning the armor sideways makes it look more warrior style. I suppose that's just me, however. In the future I should probably try to critique better, & include less of my opinion. Still, great build, both for you & Lego.
