About this creation
A link to the contest CSPMC3 please go and check out the other awesome entries to the contest.

This is the research ship Parrington, hull number BB7622 built by Bourgeois Industries. The ship lands on a Planet or Asteroid and can detach the laboratory. the drive section can return to base or stay in orbit to conduct experiments/collect data. Then returns to pickup the lab for a return trip home. A larger version was in the works, but a LIMITATION placed on the manufacturer by David & David precluded this.

Space Station Outpost 7 nicknamed Big Jim! How it got that name is long forgotten. the station features Hydroponics for growing its own food supply.

Welcome to Rowntree Inn a place a spacemen can hang up his/hers oxygen tanks and helmet and relax. We offer free Continental breakfast, and satellite TV with HBO. coming to a system near you.

Here is a picture of all 98 pieces used. Thank you so much for checking it out, and best of luck to all the contestants!

Quoting Gerald F. How did I miss this!? Haha I love how you can fit a rover into the ship! The overall submarine-type of look makes the ship look unique, too. Awesome alternatives! Keep On Brcikin'!
Thank you Gerald! I wanted to add to the playablity and I new a rover was a must.

Quoting David Alexander Smith Design: This goofy golfball goody has the most pleasing design,. Hole in one sir. (10) Alternatives: Whilst good, I think your secondary models suffer slightly from the piece selection you needed to create the super original (8) Playability: I could play with this all day. (10) Innovation: Itís a new if only slightly in the rough take on CS. Enough to garner a decent score though. (7)
Thanks David! I appreciate the feedback!

Quoting David Roberts Nice use of the CS colour scheme. Using bigger chunks of Lego has given you a pretty huge and impressive looking ship for just 100 parts. It would make me want to spend my pocket money! I like how the trans dome is echoed by the grey golf balls. The curved, blue wing plates go well with the round fuselage. 9 I think that the second alternative is the strongest of the two. A nice building and a great looking spaceship. Using bigger pieces does limit what you can do and I think that the first alternative is pretty similar to the main build in terms of its looks and function. 6 So much fun from so few pieces. There's a detachable spaceship, a rover, lab... Loads of fun and potential for story telling. I'm a bit concerned by how strongly the ship attaches to the lab for swooshing the whole assembly. I think that the Technic friction pins will do a decent job of holding the wings on but is 2x2 studs enough clutch power? 8 Although there were bases and such like in the Lego Space themes I think that this space lab is an innovative and new idea. It also fits well into the CS theme and ethos. 8 Total 31
Thanks David! Lots of great points you made. There was actually 6 studs holding the two halves but you couldn't see it ,my fault none of the pics showed it. Thanks for a great contest!

Thanks Parrington! Yes I love those 1/4 round parts! When the original Star Wars escape pod came out. I made a space station that hinged open like this does. It was so cool. The hard part is attaching things to it while trying to keep it clean.

Thanks Kermunklin! It actually makes perfect sense. JWG 258's comment below echoed your comment! I guess I was greatly influenced by the Sci-fi movies of the 50s and 60s.
