The long predicted cold front reached LegoNYC last night. A winter storm warning from the National Weather Service is in effect until 1pm. 7 inches of snow have fallen during the last hours. Congested and slippery roads, much snow fun for the kids and much work to do for the city’s snow plows is the result of this winter storm. This year i decided against cleanup the roads and let the snow remain on them because it looks so nice with all the snow. Used more snow powder as last year :) I hope you like it like i do :) It’s such a beautiful looking winter scene and now i’m definitely in pre-christmas season mood. Thank you very much for stopping by, rating and commenting.
About this creation
Please scroll down for watching the Updated pics.
The main pic and the two following are edited with an app to get the falling snow effect.
1 LegoNYC’s city workers with their new snow plow pickup. The firemen of Engine Co. 5 are also busy with snow cleanup and the Dalmatian has much fun playing in the snow.
2 The kids have really much fun building their own snowman in the park. Here you can see again two huskies enjoying their walk in the deep snow.
3 The lovely decorated christmas tree got his new place in the park. I added a new lighting string with 40 led’s
4 A view from above. Beautiful… ;)
5 And another view from the top of the GE building.
6 The park with all the beautiful snow. It’s getting darker outside…
7 Time to switch the lights of the christmas tree on. In the background you can see the busy FDNY ambulance en route to a call.
8 Here another really nice view over the winter scenery
9 Don’t forget the footprints. Do you have an idea whose footprints they are?
10 Here again a really nice picture of the whole enlightened christmas tree. Me and my gf are enjoying the really nice scenery in the park :)
11 Another shot of me and my gf’s sigfigs ;) One of my favorite pics.
12 Now a street view with my newest creation. Added working head and taillights at the dark grey VW Amarok. Used one of my new Lifelites eLite Jr kits for it.
13 And another street view.
14 Now a little surprise for you all. The first Lego Store opened in LegoNYC :)
Update December 12th. It was snowing again and the snow piles are grown :)
15 A little NYPD scene. The cruiser has working lights now :)
18 And now some very nice monochrome pictures
I hope you enjoyed this new winter creation a lot.
I wish you all a really nice and peaceful pre-christmas season with your friends and families :)
Loool ;) I'm so sorry for that I missed your really nice and funny comment almost a month. Thank you so much for your big compliment. Very happy about that you like this creation so much. Hopefully I'm able to do a winter scene this year.
Thank you so much for your really nice comment and congrats my friend. Appreciate every single word. ;) Pic No.19 is my absolute favorite here. Love that the brick facade of the firehouse looks so real there.
Jimmie my very good friend, thank you again so much for your lovely words, big compliment and congrats you left here. I highly appreciate every single word. Thank's for asking, were fine so far. Hope you and Jill a safe and happy too. Greets and hugs back to our loved ones in NC and great to hear that the situation there is better now.
Beautiful scene! I think my favorite shots are the last two black and white ones. There's nothing quite like NYC in the winter in black and white for evoking the christmas feeling! Congrats on a very well deserved MOTD!
Congrats on the greatest LEGO winter scene MOC becoming MOTD, and the brilliant builder and great friend who created it. BOAJDTAP. Its simply the best!!! Hope my loved ones in Germany are safe and happy. Greets and hugs to Sven and Julia From Jill and I from a not as soggy NC.
This is an awesome MOTD! When I loaded up the page, the main picture nearly convinced me I had stumbled onto the wrong side. After scrolling through the rest of your pictures, I'm even more convinced! :P Great work on this, Sven!
Hey RL, thaaaaank you so much for your great compliment and comment. I'm very happy about that you like it all so much. I really enjoy watching my city every day because the snow is still there ;) Only the streets are cleaned now. Thank you very much again!
This is unreal! I absolutely love the news report for the snow storm. The images from the snow covered city are majestic and beautiful. The tracks in the snow are the best. What an amazing accomplishment!!
Hey my friend, thank you also very much for leaving such a nice comment :) I'm very happy about that you like it all so much. You are welcome, was me a pleasure commenting on your new stuff :) All the best for you too!
Wow Sven, I can't believe how I missed this post earlier. Absolutely stunning work again my friend, nothing but the best from you! Love your pickup truck plow and the snow is extremely realistic! Thanks for commenting on my new work! All the best!
It's absolutly stunning and almost surreal somehow...! Love the monochrome pictures even more to be honest, and they'd look even More epic framed and hanged on the wall as true art in my opinion! Amazing build! :D
luckily the snow has melted in my neck of the woods in the adirondacks. It reminds me of that frozen song that my little cousins listen to, "in the first time in forever", since we have never had a green christmas. in ny.
Hey Jimmie my friend, thanks for visiting my winter wonderland again ;) Well, your hint made it easy to guess what is coming next from you. It takes place in Windy City ;) Good choice, very good choice. I wish you all the best and much fun with building your next awesome creation. Can't wait to see it. Happy holidays to you too and stay safe also :) Greetings from good ol' Germany back to you my friend.
Hey Sven had to spend a few more minutes staring at this winter wonderland. Just wanted to let you know that the procurement phase is complete. the subjects for the next major build are enroute to NC. HINT, "One case of scotch, you are getting cheap in your old age Brian." Happy holidays Stay safe and greets from NC.
Hey Allen, don't worry about that you missed it. Happens to me more often than you think ;) I'm very happy about your very kind words. Thank you so much for it :) Yeah i understand you very well. Have the same problem here. Would expand my city if i could but i need more space for it. Take your time my friend. I wish you all the best for your plans and future projects and hope that you'll find a nice place for your, your stuff and your legos. Many greetings from Germany :) Sven
Hmm, somehow i missed commenting on this though i did notice it some time ago. The snow, snowplow and christmas tree are all very nice additions to your city. That lego-store looks great too :-D About my own project: Unfortunately it will still be at least a year until i can begin to set anything up. First, i need to move to a bigger place with enough space for a 'lego-workshop' & display table, then i need to rebuild a lot of the stuff i have now, and then finally i can begin to set up the town. Right now, i am still in the process of saving up enough money to move.
Hi Henrik, thank you so much for your really nice comment. From a talented builder like you it means a lot to me when you like my stuff. But i really enjoyed watching your awesome new LeMans Moc. It's an awesome creation my friend! :)
Wow Mark, a comment from such a great and talented builder like you is really a honor ;) Thank you so much for your very kind words. It's really cool that i could fascinate you with my creation. But i must say, i love the winter scenery also and it's much fun watching it every day. Especially at the evening when it's dark, i love the snow glittering in the shine of the lights from the buildings and the christmas tree. Btw, could be possible that there is more snow to come... ;)
Awesome work, Sven. Some nice building to begin with, but the snow cover gives it a unique quality that I don't think I've ever seen before. I've seen a LOT of creations over the years, so to find something new is almost impossible these days. Well done!
Hey my friends. Some of you wanted to see some pics of the snow plow. I'll upload it at the weekend if i have some time :) Sorry for the longer waiting time, but i'm very busy at the moment. Greets, Sven
Surprise surprise Gabor ;) ;) After i woke up today i was looking out of the window to see what's happening outside like i do it every day. Today it happened. We got some snooooow! Only a bit but all was white outside. But sadly it was only a small area of precipitation and the snow melted during the day.
Yeah, we had nearly the same problem last winter. Only two days with snow. That was too little for my taste. I love snow and hope that we get a lot more this winter. Hope the same for you in Hungary. If we don't get snow we both look at my city again ;) Or you visit me and we play in the city with the snow. :D
Thank you very very much for your nice comment Edgar :) Hmm, good question. ;) Because of that the city will be never finsihed due to the changes, i think it's an update of the update of the update ;) XD
Hey Marcel, danke danke danke danke!!
I can tell you that it was very much fun coating everything with the snow :) Believe me ;) The winter scene will remain till spring next year and then it's time to cleanup all the snow. I use a vacuum cleaner for it and it works pretty good. Did the same last years winter, so i know how it works. Thaaaank you very very much for your nice comment David. I really appreciate it.
Oh Oran my very good friend! "sniff sniff" Your great comment and compliment makes me really smile. Yeah it would be great if someone in New York would do that for me. I really hope that we are able to visit this awesome city some time. But now you are on our travel list first ;) ;) Can't wait to meet you in real. It's great to know such really nice people like you and Diane. Thank you so much again and again :) Many lovely greetings to you and Diane from a really happy and lucky Sven :)
Hey Sven my very good friend! It looks like my comment did not make it to you. Oh well! My rating showed up but not the comment. Sven, you have done it again and again and again, did I say again? I forgot... Anyway, well done! Your city has lots of great detail and a lot of unique "Sven Immagination"! New York should give you a key to their city and an all expenses paid trip to see their great city!
Danke!! Ps: wünsche dir einen ganz schönen 1. Advent.
Hallo Sven:-), dein winterliches New York ist wunderschön geworden!
Lol ;) Okay okay, with removing the trees, lamp posts and traffic lights i need one and a half hour for cleanup. All stuff in my town, cars and minifigs excluded, are fixed. I remove the trees, lamp posts, figures, cars and traffic lights before i start vacuuming. Indeed, it leaves a lot of dust on every place in the town but due to that the snow powder doesn't paste on the Legos, it's pretty easy removable. It leaves no remains because the snow powder is dedicated for such a use. It's specially made for use on model railroads. In spring next year i'll post a new update of my city. Then you'll see how clean it is. :)
Thank you thank you thank you! Did i say thank you? ;) Joe my friend, i'm so thankful for your really cool comment. You are a lucky one that you got real snow. First my town is too big to place it outside in real snow and second we don't have snow since nearly a year. Last winter we had only two or three days with snow... Can't wait to see your winter creation. Wish you much fun!
Hey Sven my very good friend! Great winter scene in LegoNYC. You have really created a great city with lots of super detail! Well done! Remember I need a video of the cleanup of your city next year! LOL You really should have made the garbage truck snow plow IMHO! LOL Maybe next year.
Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow... This is amazing! Absolutely, positively genius. You did it again, Sven. I'm making a few plans of my own for snow ideas in my county, but for now, I'm just using outside, as here in Minnesota we already have a good half foot of snow. Great job!
Yeah, i agree with you. It looks much different now :) Do you know the feeling when youre going outside directly after snow was falling? It's nearly the same feel when i'm sitting in front of the city :) Thank you very much for your kind comment my friend!
Thank you so much for your kind wishes. Have a great December with your gf and family too. Wish you all the best. Thank you very much for your kind comment my friend :) Btw, my favorite is picture no 11 :)
The snow is a special powder for model railroads. It's water resistant, easily removable and doesn't harm the Legos. I strew it over the city with using a small sieve. Hope you understand what i mean. Please don't use flour or something like that. Thank you very much for your nice comment Stan :)
Absolutely beautiful winter / Christmas scenery. The snow looks really realistic, it is beautifully sprinkled everywhere. Picture 10 looks very romantic. Have a great December with your girlfriend and family.
Thank you very much Indy. I'm glad you like it so much! :) Was really hard work to get the right lighting and pictures. Needed nearly one week to take a whole bunch of pics and selecting the best ones :)
Nick, thank you very very much for your very nice comment and compliment. This means a lot to me :) Yeah i thought about it, but it's only a prototype (truck excluded) I'll think about when it's completely finshed.
Sure, you can ask :) It's water resistant and removable snow powder for model railroads. It's from the German company "NOCH". They do many stuff for model railroads. Thank you so much for your very nice comment Omri :)
Oh Jimmie, you make me blush ;) Thaaaaank you so much for your very kind words, really big comliment and comment. I'm so happy about that you like it so much. I'm going to keep the snow till spring is coming ;) I'm a big fan of winter and snow. Hope that we get a lot this winter here :) Have a joyous and safe holiday season too my friend! Greets back to you from Germany. Stay safe! :)
Oh Clayton my friend, thank you soo much for every word of your very kind comment!! It makes me smiling all over my face :) Had the idea for the Fox News Alert after is saw a lot of Breanking News coverage from the lake effect snow in Buffalo the last days. But you will suprised when i tell you that i need only one hour for cleanup the whole city in spring. Remember last years snow ;) Thank you also very much for your kind christmas wishes. The same to you and your family :)
Thanks a lot my friend! Ps: musst es mal in echt sehen ;)
Question; What does Norman Rockwell And Team Sven have in common? Answer; Both are creators of some of the worlds greatest winter art scenes in the world. Absolutely stunning my friend. Are you going to keep the snow through the holidays? Have a joyous and safe holiday season. Greets from NC.100/100
Sven! I think this is the most incredible city scene I've ever seen! It's positively brilliant! I LOVE the Fox News Alert! That's so awesome! The lit Christmas tree is so beautiful. I really like the picture of the snowplow clearing the street. Sven this is amazing and I fear it's going to take you till spring to clean this up :-) I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas holiday as well!
Marvelous job my friend.
