The newest SHIP of the line, the Goa'uld Mothership.
Between all my work on Barad-dûr and ... yes ... Barad-dûr, I had the need to build something new and something where I have results in shorter time-spans than on BD.
Around mid-September I recognized there is SHIPtember and the fact, that the mothership was on my to-do list for a real long time (around 2-3 years now), the decision was really easy.
So I built in two weeks a whole SHIP. It measures ~ 101 studs, depending from which to which side you measure. The work and figure-process (see WIP-pictures at the end of this post) was some time really tough, caused by the 3-sided geometry and the odd angles.
So far so good, I'll let the pictures speak for themself:
Un-freaking-believable. A triumph of engineering, aesthetics, and out-of-the-box design. Also, with a little repaint, it would be the most Epic Blacktron I mothership out there. Love the use of windows to give it skyscraper-scale, and I really dig the enigmatism (is that a word? it is now) of the design. It's powerful, but alien and inscrutable.
