About this creation
LOM UC: New Alliances (Main)

King Bartok sat on his new throne, pondering how he could possibly solve the problem at hand. In the past, the clans had had disagreements, but never before had he seen the likes of this. The prideful Ibers and Dragons, unwilling to admit that either side was wrong, were tearing apart Rainos through their stubbornness. There was nothing for Bartok to do. The only support he had was the Dark Valley Clan, and even they were unaccustomed to war. None of the other factions were willing to help him. Enalica, of course, had sided with the Ibers and many of their allies, and even Mythron had formed a loose alliance with the Dragon clan. King Bartok, by comparison, was alone.

LOM UC: New Alliances (7)

The heavy footsteps of an approaching messenger - was his name Frederic? Bartok was not sure; despite his best efforts, he still had trouble memorizing names - caught  his attention, distracting him from his thoughts. "A Nerogueian ambassador is here to speak with you, sir."

"On what grounds?" Bartok responded, trying to keep his hopes down. Nerogue was the only faction that hadn't taken extreme sides at this point, but that didn't mean that this would be good news. It was never good news; they could easily be trying to invade Rainos. Yes, that was probably it; no one would possibly want to help Bartok right now. Even Bartok himself wasn't sure if he'd help himself if given the choice.

"I don't know sir, but he says that it is a message from the Nerogueian council."

The King sighed. More problems, he was sure. He had enough to deal with as it was...

"Send him in," he said reluctantly.

LOM UC: New Alliances (8)

A tall man dressed in brown entered the room. He bowed before the king.

"Speak," Bartok told the man,  "for I am curious as to what matter you bring before me." It was true - he was curious about what the problem was this time. He just didn't want the problems to exist in the first place.

LOM UC: New Alliances (9)

"King Bartok, I bring you a message from the Nerogueian council in Zorthan. Over the past month, Nerogue has been following the Ibers and Enalica, and now they wish for us to join their cause in the Southern part of Rainos. We believed the Dragons had no right to try to take the Ibers' land, but now we also believe that the Ibers are wrong to try to take the Dragon's land in Southern Rainos.

"Now, our position is changing. Enalica has their land back, but they are not promoting peace now that they have what they want. Nerogue promoted peace, but our cause was ultimately lost due to sparks flung by Enalicans. They are encouraging the clans to fight. I do not know why, perhaps it is revenge, but somehow it seems that their relationship with Rainos is not to last. Due to this, the Dragons are now even more stubborn and are now laying siege to Castle Tratado. Nerogueian warships are currently on their way to stop the Dragons from crippling the Enalican economy. However, we have strongly refused the notion to go with the Ibers and Enalicans to Southern Rainos where they are winning.

"We may have disagreed with some of your decisions in the past, but here, we must admit that you are right and we were wrong. Unknowingly we wandered into a web of back stabbers, people with twisted motives, and power hungry generals. Whatever Enalica and the Ibers are trying to do in Southern Rainos, it cannot be good. We must work against this violence. The other factions are trying to back their preferred side, thinking - hoping - that Rainos will fall apart and that their allies will help them in the future. Despite all of this, Nerogue has confidence that you can end the violence.

"However, you cannot do this alone. If you refuse our help, we will be forced to go back to Nerogue, leaving you to be alone in your cause. Nobody supports you right now...other than us. If you accept our offer, we must act together. Do you agree?"

LOM UC: New Alliances (2)

Bartok agreed to work with Nerogue to stop the war. His country was quickly falling apart; only through the help of Nerogue could he negotiate with the clans and end the violence. With Nerogue's aid, he figured, maybe peace would soon come...

This was a fun quick build for the September UC in LOM. I tried out a few new techniques and styles and I'm pretty happy with how it came out. The dragon/serpent statues might be my favorite part.

The stained glass window was pretty fun to make. Also here you can see the pillar technique, made with window frames, technic axles, and barrels.

This mosaic on the ground is another of my favorite parts. I really like how the cheese mosaic imitates the design on the shield.

Thanks for viewing!

Quoting Deus "Big W." Otiosus I like studs on wooden pillars and the shield on the floor looks nice. Speaking of the floor, the transition between the over-used gap-technique and cheese-mosaic is too clunky and makes the floor look too busy.
Yeah I agree, the floor on this one didn't really turn out that well. I need to work on finding interesting ways to do flooring without making it look messy...

Quoting Julia LeeP Nice build, Halhi! The mosaics are really cool. The floor looks a little cluttered with all the loose pieces (those round 1x1 tiles give me shudders :P), though, and the dragon/serpents look more like a cross between a wolf, a vampire, and a seahorse, at least to me, but overall I think this is at least a little better than Gilbert's version. And that cape usage on Bartok is really cool too, even if it looks a bit like a dress to me :P
Loose pieces? The only loose pieces here are the ~10 1x1 tiles around the mosaic, the rest is all connected. Not sure if I agree on the dragons (I can see seahorse, but not the other two). Thanks though, and yeah the cape is a bit weird but I don't have any dark green torsos and the cape is really stiff...

Quoting Kermunklin the Giant Evil House Head That's some advanced stuff! What did you use to make the king's robe and where did you get it?
Thanks! I used a dark green cape from Uruk-hai army. It's connected to the arm sockets of the torso and bent into place, and a rubber band keeps it around his waist. Sadly due to the stiffness of the cape, he only looks good sitting down...

Quoting Infernum Mythron-Bane Nice statues! Love the column technique! Peace in Rainos? Hm.
Thanks! ....if you were a king, wouldn't you want peace? I mean it's not like a civil war is strengthening your country or anything...

Quoting Professor B. I really like the mosaic; very cool. But those dragons take the cake. Excellent work! Though I do agree with Kai about yours and Gilbert's. Maybe if yours was bigger and less cramped...
Thanks, and like I said to Kai, I gave it that sort of atmosphere for a reason - Bartok isn't the kind of prosperous king in Mythron; he's a king who's frustrated by the war in his country and by the fact that nobody listens to him. The dark atmosphere was probably appropriate for this IMO

Quoting Kai Bernstein To be honest, I actually like Gilbert's better. True, this is more detailed and has nice techniques, but it feels colder and kind of cramped and the bley (both dark and light) is very messy/crooked in places, adding to the unrefined, unkingly feel. Gilbert's is simpler, yes, but it's a larger room with a much warmer tone. This /is/ a nice build, but it needs refining and enlarging. You can't even see the wood walls or the barrel+window pillars, being obscured by the red statues. :P
I'm not sure if I agree about Gilbert's (it's certainly better than his second MOC of the interior, and the small size and the dragon statues almost right on top of him are supposed to give it a very dark feel, so pretty much opposite of his), but thanks anyway. I agree with the floor (I didn't notice/have time to fix that) but since when must you be able to see the entire walls of something when there's something right next to the walls? :P

Thanks! Yeah, I love the mosaic, now I really want to incorporate more cheese mosaics into my MOCs...
Quoting Mr. Cab Well, this is very different from the inns and landscapes we normally see from you... :P And it's just as good. Awesome job! I especially love the rug design.
Yeah, I personally usually prefer exteriors when I spend longer on my builds, but this was a nice way to get a change of pace after working on a small FP landscape for almost a month (as a side project)

Quoting David . The floor just looks lazy. Dont you have a gift card somewheres tp straighten them out? ;) It is a marvelous build, Halhi, but it would look much more marvelous if it didn't look sloppy. Just a few thoughts :)
Lazy? It most definitely was not, I spent more time on the floor than anything else (I had to vary the height of the ground underneath at one point because I ran out of 2x2 tiles, which is the reason for some of the unevenness. The rest is lack of time and that I didn't notice it. That's a good idea, though, thanks!)
