A day after landing in Rainos, Sergeant Darby found a company of Dragon soldiers attacking a Boar outpost. Quickly locating the commander, Sergeant Darby offered his assistance to them.

“We’ve already attacked the fortress once,” the Dragon commander told Darby. “We failed to get a foothold and lost many men in the endeavour while the enemy lost barely anyone. We’re ready to give up and go home.”

“Give up?” replied Darby. “Me and my crew didn’t sail across the sea to fight the war for you.”

“What are you going to do then,” the commander said glaring at Darby.

Darby thought for a moment.

“I need to know what the area around the castle looks like and where the week spots are before making any plans. Lewis, go scout out the area!”

“Yes, Sir!”

“Make sure they don’t see you!”

“They won’t,” replied Jake confidently.

“I’ll show you to the gate point of the castle,” the Dragon commander offered sullenly.

“Very well,” replied Jake. “Let’s go.”

A few minutes later, Jake was shown the gate to the castle. While the Dragon leader stayed behind, Jake got up close to the castle.

Jake quickly scanned the area. To his surprise, he thought he saw a person watching him way off to his right. Before he could be sure it disappeared. He then returned to the commander and together they returned to the camp.
“Not much to say except that you would need a long ladder to scale the walls. And battering the gates would be useless as they built the portcullis outside of the gate,” reported Jake deciding not to tell Darby about the man if he was even real.

“What about the ground around the castle,” asked Darby? “Was there anything that your eye?”

“Well there was a tree on our side of the moat and a few rocks near the walls.”

Darby sat quietly for a moment planning his next move. “Thank you, Lewis. You can go now.”

About a half hour before sunrise, Sergeant Darby and his squad moved in on the castle followed by the Rainosians. Darby had sent Jake and one of his friends, Erik Nichols, up ahead. Quietly they crossed the wooden bridge.

“Halt, who goes there,” they heard a rough voice call from the walls? Instead of answering the dashed under the overhang of the ramparts and started to light a fire on the rock that were there. “We’re under attack,” cried the voice on the wall! “The Dragons are attacking again!”

“Hurry up, Erik!” hissed Jake impatiently.

“I’m hurrying,” replied Erik. Then the wood caught fire. “There, run!”

Jake and Erik pounded back across the bridge. As they ran, a crossbow bolt buried into the trunk of a tree beside them.

Then there was a thunderous explosion. The force of it blew Jake and Erik onto their faces.

Seemingly out of nowhere Darby and his men sprang out and attacked. Jake and Erik stood up and started to follow them. Both stopped for a second when they saw a gaping hole in the wall right where Erik had lit the fire.

With a yell, Jake shook off his surprise of the big hole and started across the bridge with Erik right behind him.

Then something struck Jake in the shoulder. Jake’s vision blurred. He felt a sharp pain in his right shoulder. Then he fell to the ground and saw no more.

Hi guys,

Something I just through together for September's UC while waiting for round 2 of the MocOlympics to start. My favorite part about this MOC is the fact that the portcullis can be raised and lowed by a winch in the roof of the gatehouse. And for those wondering, I'll explain in the next part how they blew up the wall without gunpowder since it is banned from LOM.

Thanks for stopping by. C & C appreciated.

Quoting cyberfrank 2010 the castle scene is well designed, I also like that you made action happen soon, I miss the pictures of the characters s confrontation, it would have been cool to see a picture of their reaction, I like the creativity of the attack, I expected bows and sword fights, it was refreshing, if you could add pictures and scenes, it would complete well your scenarios, you have good ideas!
Thanks for the feedback. I'll keep it mind for next time.
