Bracket 1: MEMO R4
About this creation
Hey everyone! This is my entry to round 4 of the MEMO.

My amazing opponent-Finn Tegotash and his wonderful entry.

I'm in Bracket 1:
Our category was- Alternate Beginning:
What would have happened if Bilbo had just... GIVEN THE RING BACK TO GOLLUM?? Would Lord of the Rings have happened at all!? Give us a new, alternate way to start the epic trilogy, whether it's Sauron hunting down Gollum beneath the Goblin caves or Bilbo accidentally dropping the ring off an eagle's back.

This category at first really stumped me because the trilogy is already so amazing that it would be hard to imagine it a different way. But, after much deliberation, I decided to do a scene in which, basically, Sauron is scouring and pillaging all of Middle Earth to try and find the One Ring.

My scene represents Orcs raiding a village and setting it on fire. And in the distance, you can see the Eye of Sauron searching the land for the One Ring

I also decided that I might as well do a brick built Sauron, and I think it came out pretty well.

Thanks for looking!

Great build! I love the forced perspective, the miniature Barad-Dur is AWESOME, the black gate is really cool, and the brick-built Sauron is cool too! I just don't like the "main" (2nd picture) build. The smoke looks really unrealistic, I actually didn't realize it was smoke until I read the comments, and the cottage is too small. Overall, still a very great build:D

A friendly reminder that R5 has started. It'd be a shame if you didn't because of no notification. :)

Excellent micro buildings! Really love Baradur. There are some weak points, as Halhi noted (the smoke, the path, and the rockwork), but the rest is pretty good. Congrats on advancing to the last round and good luck!

This is very nice, and a tough matchup. I really like Finn's eye of Sauron, but your Sauron figure is amazing. In the end I have to give you my vote. Congrats on moving into the finals!

Outstanding MOC! Your builds are generally awesome (your Sauron I would find quite handy). The smoke looks a little weird but over all I think this creation deserves a 5!!

Wow, that FP is so cool! I think this build was overall done quite well. My favorite parts were the mini-builds and the brick-built Sauron. The only thing I didn't LOVE was the smoke in the tenth picture. It seems a bit unnatural, but that's probably due to the use of unusual bricks to make it. Great job!

nice FP and miniature builds! perhaps you could have made the water also appear tainted, and the foliage, too, somehow. apart from that, though, this is awesome :)

Quite impressive! The micro scale Black Gate and Barad-dur are definitely my favorite part of this MOC! The FP looks so cool in the main pic and I like your overall idea. My least favorite part would probably be the smoke, though I like the use of unusual pieces in it :) Awesome work once again, and good luck!

Okay...this was a tough match-up. The best parts of your entry are easily superior to Finn's, but you have a lot of parts that seem kinda sloppy (a lot of the ground layering, rockwork, and smoke. The microscale buildings, however, are fantastic (if not the surroundings for the black gate), Sauron is impressive, and the cottage is very nice. In the end, I guess I'll ignore the weak areas and judge off the strongest parts - you get my vote. In the future, it would probably be better to build less scenes with more refinement...
