M.O. Round 1: A pirate's life for me!
For round 1 of the 2014 MOCOlympics.
About this creation

I chose the category: A pirate's home life. Here is a link to the MOCOlympics homepage: Click me! Susan: “Good morning Britain! I'm Susan Thompsen and I'm here with Edric Smith. We're your hosts on Beyond the Job!”
Edric: “Today we will be exploring the pirate's life. We all know that during the day, pirates pillage and burn towns and ships, but wouldn't that get boring after a while? We sure think so. So join us today and find out about a pirate's home life!”
Susan:“We've come to the house of the notorious pirate Captain Shortshanks. Legend tells that he got the nickname from his crew, because he is so short.”
Edric:“That's right Susan. It's widely known that Shortshanks' crew not only steal gold and other valuables, but also any furniture they can fit on their ship, the Narwhal's Tooth. Perhaps we will find out what they did with all that loot. Hey look, here's Shortshanks now.”
Susan:“Good morning, Captain! Could you tell us a little bit about yourself?”

Shortshanks: “Why yes, my dear, I reckon I could.”
Susan:“...”
Shortshanks:“Um, wert does I say?”
Susan:“Just tell Britain what your biggest accomplishments were, where you were born, your favorite foods, etc.”
Shortshanks:“Um, ok. Sure. I can do that. I was born in Scotland.”
Susan:“Where in Scotland?”
Shortshanks:“I don't know, that's what moms are for, keepin' track of the not important stuff. Anyways, my biggest accomplishment was personally slaying the Kracken...”
Edric:“Is it now? I hear tell that it is still devouring ships today. The East India Trading Company just lost a ship last week.”
Shortshanks:“I know, most people don't believe that, but it's true! I did it with only me bare hands!”
Susan:“Would you mind recounting the tale at a different time? We do have a time slot for this show.”
Shortshanks:“Then, as I wrestled with the great beast, I shoved...
Susan:“Ehem.”
Shortshanks:“Yes, sorry. Ehem. My favorite food is SLT. Salmon, lettuce and tomato sandwich. It may be cheap, but I love it.”
Susan:“Anything else you want to say?”
Shortshanks:“Nope.”
Edric:“Um, ok then. Could you show us your shack?”
Shortshanks:“Shack? SHACK?!?! I spent years working on this beauty. I myself am an interior designer by profession, the pirate thing is just a hobby.”
Edric:“I think the viewers may have trouble believing that. Does the roof even keep out the rain?”
Shortshanks:“Of course, I can't have rain ruining the work of art in the inside. The outside just looks like that to throw people from the real truth. I don't think I could strike fear into those I raid with them knowing I'm an interior designer.”
Edric:“I see. Would you mind showing us your work?”
Shortshanks:“My pleasure. right this way.”

Susan:“Wow, your work is stunning, Shortshanks. You should come over to my house sometime.
Shortshanks: "Thank you. I work for 1000 British pounds a room.
Susan: "Wow, expensive."
Shortshanks: "I have to pay the crew somehow."
Susan:“Can we see the other room? Views are getting bored with this dull tan room.
Shortshanks:“Other room? I have a whole basement! But sure we can see the dining room. After that, I'll show you the rest of the house!

Susan:“So, this is the dining room?”
Shortshanks:“Yup, sure is!”
Edric:“I've noticed you seem to leave food just sitting around.”
Shortshanks:“Well, I was interrupted from my breakfast meal when you arrived.”
Edric:“It looks like you have supper for breakfast.”
Shortshanks:“Well, first rule of piracy, always eat a hardy meal.”
Edric:“I see. Mind if I have a bite?”
Shortshanks:“Not at all.”
Edric:“Mmm, thanks.” *Nom, nom, nom*
Susan:“Is that your ship on the wall?”
Shortshanks:“My ship? Nah, just some ship paining I found in the captains cabin of a trade ship.
Susan:“I see. Well, can you show us some more?”
Shortshanks:“Right this way!”

Edric:“Ug, stairways on boats are thicker than this.”
Shortshanks:“Well, I do have a land size limit.”
Edric:“I get it. You steal valuables and kitchen appliances, but not land?”
Shortshanks:“The parliament can get very persnickety about stuff like that. they would notice if anyone moved an inch off their property.”
Edric:“So you don't want to be detected?”
Shortshanks:“Nope. But I didn't choose a big enough plot of land, so I went under it. I don't think parliament would have notice if I went past my borders though, so I an easily extend underground.”
Edric:“How do you do that?”
Shortshanks:“I hire some people and have them dig out a space. Then the crew and I do the rest.”
Edric:“Fun!”

Shortshanks:“Ah, the family room.”
Susan:“Yikes, the bright colors are blinding!”
Shortshanks:“Sorry about that. You might need a new lens on that video recorder.”
Susan:“So, what 's down here?”
Shortshanks:“Well, this is my writing desk, where I write replies to all my fan mail.”
Edric:“You have one paper on your desk.”
Shortshanks:“Well, I, er, um, I keep the rest somewhere else.”
Edric:“Why?”
Shortshanks:“Er, ah, because the first rule of piracy is this: Every good pirate keeps himself organized.”
Edric:“Interesting. Ohh, that chair looks comfy!”
Shortshanks:“It sure is, I won that in a battle of wits.”
Edric:“You won?”
Shortshanks:“Well, not exactly. I just say that to ease my conscience. I actually lost, but that guy was living like the rich and famous already, so I relieved him of his wager.”
Susan:“So not only are you a pirate, and a thief, but also a cheater.”
Shortshanks:“Sure am.”
Susan:“Next room!”

Shortshanks:“This is the living room. I...”
Crew members 1-3: “Surprise!”
Shortshanks: “I forgot to tell you, some of the crew wanted to be on camera, so I told them to surprise you down here.”
Susan and Edric: “...”
Edric: “I'm afraid we don't have time to interview them all. Maybe another day.”
Crew member 1: “But, we waited on stakeout...”
Crew member 2: “Steak?!? I love steak! Where is it!?!”
Everyone else in the room: “...”
Shortshanks: “Anyway, I found those lovely velvet couches in New Zealand. Very fine quality.”
Edric: “Soooo soft......”
Susan: “Next room!”

Shortshanks: “So, this is my bedroom. Not much else to say, except DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT TOUCHING THE TREASURE CHEST!”
Susan: “I like your zebra pelt pillows, Shortshanks!”
Shortshanks: “Thanks! I found them in Africa.”
Edric: “The pillows or the zebras used to make the pillows?”
Shortshanks: “Both.”
Susan: “ So, what's in the treasure chest, and what happens if I touch it?”
Shortshanks: “Just a bunch of jewls that are worth more than you are. If you touch it, I'll take you to my enemy disposal center.”
Susan: “Yikes. Next room!”

Shortshanks: “Well, this is the bathroom. Nothing special here, except a luxury toilet.”
Edric: “That would be so useful...”
Susan: “Are there any more rooms or things you'd like to show us?”
Shortshanks: “There aren't any more rooms, but I would like to show you something...”

Shortshanks: “This is my enemy disposal center. I put it outside so the bodies don't stink up the house. I also keep a rifle and a katana out here so I can let off steam on unlucky fellows or pass judgement on my foes...”
Susan: “That's sickening...”
Edric: “Well folks, that's all! Join us tomorrow for a look into the background of a governor!”
