LoM MBC: Outpost
For Rainos!
About this creation
This was originally built for fun, and not for LoM, but, after some talking with Gilbert and Halhi, I figured it would probably work as an outpost.

So! My first medieval house! It was a blast! Took me weeks to finish (only because I was waiting for pieces to arrive). But I'm really proud of the finished product (excusing the waterfall). WIP pictures will be posted as soon as I can get flickr or the darn MP's uploader to work. One that note, enjoy!

As a side note, since I had taken pictures before I made it an MBC, I was unable to remove the Nerogue-looking man from the pictures. Please take no notice of him. :D

I'm pretty sure he thinks that he invented the standard convex corner "technique" that everyone's used countless times :P

I'd like proof of that, David - have you a link for us? :P

Quoting David . Whats this corner beam technique you and Kai are jabbering on about? Because if it's what i think it is, I did it before either of you. :P oh, and if you want a compliment, take any of those long heartfelt comments below and imagine I said it, because that about sums it up. ;)
It'd be this one sir: https://www.flickr.com/photos/126838916@N07/14937005926. Hopefully Kai will post his corner beam technique soon. No! It was me! I invented it! :P Thanks a lot David!

Quoting Halhi @Kai: oh, that one you started around the time I started the Black Hammer Inn (early June)? I was just going to ask if you were still working on that XD
Well, it's been in limbo for months. I'll be working on it again soon, though. :P

Beautiful work here! The building is well done, especially that overhanging area, and the landscaping is pretty good too. I have to admit that the dark green timber isn't my favorite, but you really did a great job overall.

Quoting Halhi 141 Painting the beams black would be more realistic to what was actually done, I believe (and if they're painted, all of them should be that color...)
Ah. Still think it looks good. :)
Quoting Graeme Straughn Very nice!! I LOVE that house!! I'm not sure the smoke looks the best though... but that's just mee! Those rocks are stellar!
Probably because of the hole in the middle of each piece. :P I should've covered those up.... ah well. Thanks!
Quoting Kermunklin the Giant Evil House Head Wow! Everything about this looks super impressive to me. It has a look of age and dilapidation to it-even the lawn looks unkempt. Great parts usage-I really like the inclusion of the hinge plates in the foundation, they really add character. Any time I see a MOC where people use the straight, square pieces LEGO creates to make something that looks aged and twisted I am impressed, and this is a great example.
Thanks a ton! That means a whole lot. :D

Quoting Halhi 141 Yeah, dark green doesn't make for realistic looking wood. Generally, brown and/or dark brown looks best, black can also be realistic if it's the only color you use.
I was going for green painted beams, but I can see what you mean.

Impressive MOC! The rocks are amazing (as usual :), the landscaping is also really nice, the waterfall is good, but the house is the best part! My favorite part is the side room on the house, looking like it might fall at any moment! Such a cool creation, great work!

Quoting Halhi 141 Great build! I really dislike the dark green timber, but the rockwork is fantastic, the texturing is great, and the overall feel of the creation is impressive. Four points!
Dark green timber no likey? :P I suppose the color might not work very well with the rest of the build, but I still like it. Four points?! Yes!! Thanks Halhi!
Quoting Chris . Fantastic! Love the house and water, btw...thanks for doing rockwork, after seeing your Mocs with all the rockwork and complexity. I have started building rockwork and love it now, yeah so thanks for inspiring me :D
Thanks a lot Chris! Isn't rockwork great? Probably my favorite subject in building. Glad to have inspired you! Enjoy building rocks! :P
Quoting Gilbert Despathens That bison head at the edge of the roof is really cool. I think that the rockwork and the house speak for themselves - I don't need to add praise there.
Ha. It never occurred to me that it looked like a bison's head. But I really like that. Wow. Thanks a ton Gilbert!
