Combinators: What if Creator sets could combine into fighting mecha WITHOUT dismantling them?
Duotron - Combinator pairs capable of combining to form one super-robot
Team Yellow - Land/Sea - Land is represented by futuristic drag racer. Sea is represented by futuristic mini submarine.
Team White - Land/Space - Land is represented by futuristic truck. Space is represented by light fighter.
Team Blue - Land/amphibious - Land is represented by a futuristic trike. Amphibious is represented by a futuristic hover craft.
Team Red - Land/Land - Team red is made up of two land based vehicles, however one is an explorer type intended for lunar exploration and the other is a hover tank.
Some time ago - About 3 years I think, I pitched an idea I called "Space Ninja Fleet", a (clearly) Super Sentai inspired concept that featured micro scale vehicles that combined in various combinations to form super robots.
After a little rethink I reinvented the concept as Combinators for Cuusoo/Lego Ideas.
Since then I've added a couple of extra sets to the theme, but for about a year now I've pretty much left the concept alone. Why? Well mostly because the designs started to get a little samey and to be honest I felt it wasn't worth creating new sets unless they did something new.
So enter the Duotron Force.
This time round ALL the sets will combine in pairs, which will be interchangeable, so an upper torso from Team White will be exchangeable for the upper torso of Team Blue or Team Yellow or however many teams I create.
My plan, assuming I make more, is to have each pair cover two different modes of transport, so a plane and a truck, a tank and a boat, etc...

Unlike Team White, Team Yellow was always planned as a two part combiner. What was hard though was not just retooling the same two components as Team White in a new colour scheme. I wanted Team Yellow to look very different in Robot mode and have completely new vehicle forms.
The sub came first and went through two variants before I liked the scale and the transformation.
Next came the dragster, and believe me this went through many incarnations. The problem was how to deal with the robot junk and still keep a plausible vehicle. The double cockpit is a complete gaff and I really should try to close that gap that runs down the middle. Not impossible but it might affect the way the hips bend in combined mode.
