Boeing P-26 Peashooter Rework
After so many encouraging comments on my last P-26 MOC, I thought I'd have a go at updating it. I've added guns to the nose now, which I thought were an important detail, and reworked the headrest fairing and the horizontal stabilizers. Not sure I've got either right, but they're better..
About this creation
Back view. Those bracing wires are real LEGO string.

Here's a closeup of the cowling, showing the new guns. Unfortunately, the propeller can't turn in this version. I took this plane to a nearby LEGO convention a few months ago, and I can remember a small child giving me a dirty look when she found that she couldn't get the prop to spin. Well, maybe I imagined it.

This one seems to have turned into a dramatic sunset picture after editing.

Taxiing for takeoff..

The pilot looks like he's having a good time.

Side view.

Just for fun, I built in a bomb mechanism. The one on my FB-51 Peregrine is a copy of this.

Thanks for reading!

Quoting john lamarck Nice piece of aircraf history
Thanks! I agree, the Peashooter is a great piece of history -- even if it was outdated before it was ever built.

Quoting Ben King Holy cow! Excellent shaping and playability. Looks very swooshable :)
Thank you very much! Yeah, playability was one of my goals (hence the bomb :P). The main build is pretty strong, but the bracing wires (ironically) are actually kinda fragile.

Quoting Alexander Pierson That is an amazing rendition of the P-26. Nice work, one of my favorite fighter planes. Plus, you got the color scheme down pact!
Thank you! Since building this, it's become one of my favorites as well. Shame you don't see much of it in books and stuff.

Quoting TF Twitch This looks great, and your rework is amazing. Despite the fact that the prop is inop, it is still better than the version in the game War Thunder.
Thanks man! *googles war thunder p-26* Ah, lemme guess; poor performance? Well, It's really got more show than go, as they say. :P

Quoting Nick Barrett What a lovely model! The classic Lego colours look great here, no wonder the pilot's so happy.
Thanks very much! Yeah, the toy-like color scheme was one of the reasons I thought the P-26 would be a good subject. :D

Quoting clayton Marchetti Excellent Work! Love the shaping and the way you made the engine cowling . Fantastic!
Thank you! I'm glad you like it. Finishing the cowling required an order to Pick a Brick, but I think the end result looks nice.

Quoting Dr. Monster Fantastic MOC. Amazing shaping and the color scheme is perfect. A very striking model.
Thank you! I can't honestly take credit for the color scheme; I saw it in a sketch of the plane from one of my reference books. But I agree. It does look nice!
