This is a Lego Generation 1 Transformer Bumblebee - Volkswagen with mini figure scale and it is fully transformable into robot type.
About this creation
This is a traditional type of Volkswagen Beetle. Before building this, I was worrying about the creation could not be looked like the real beetle becos of the limitation in the shape of the lego bricks. Finally, the overall shape has been created and I am glad that the size is still retricted into a small lego car size.
The most challenging area is to express the curve shape of the back of the vehicle and at the same time to consider the transformation system, as well as the robot form.
It can fit a driver and a passenger.
Interior with steering wheel and dash board.
Start to transform now!
See the connecting point to hold the windscreen (body) and the front area (legs) so to maintain the firm of the vehicle form.
Start to pull out the legs.
Then to do the arms.
There are different set of articulation involved in the process of the transformation. See the little side windows are turns into another direction and the car doors are folding inside the body of the robot.
It's difficult to balance a strong robot mode with a good vehicle form, at this scale. I can see visual queues from the original toy and it isn't hard to see who the robot is meant to be. And it fits a minifig, which not many other Legoformer Bumblebees can do.
