My entry for the 1-15 pieces category in Yuri Fassio's Spinning Top Contest 2011.
About this creation
Well, I'm sacryfying myself for the sake of the constest and staying up late so I can post the small category top being sure the timeline mess doesn't count it out. This is my entry in the small category, the Mariachi top. It is exactly 15 pieces big ( the flags in the main photo don't count, of course - they are just decoration that have nothing to do with the top itself ). I made a lame red and black top earlier, but I decided to whip up something cooler while I still have the time.
And so I made this top, which is somewhere between the jolly Mexican festivities and the expression of my burning hate against Geography homework, becuase of which I couldn't finish the Spinning Genie today.
I like the way it came out - it looks all colourful and happy :)
( sorry for the yellow light, I forgot to take images with my special light settings )
An above view. Thanks goodness for the extra maraca that came with the Mexican minifig.
It spins! Feel my wrath, Geography homework, oh, and *La Cucaracha...*
It spins for about 15 seconds, because the sombrero makes it unstable. But it looks really lame without it.
*Rumba! Lambada! Salsa!*
*Salsa and Chilli con Carne! Ole!
( Speaking of chilli... I can still feel the aftertaste of the chilli pepper biscuits that I ate on my friend's birthday a couple of years ago... )
It is exactly 15 pieces big.
I'm still working on that genie, I'll have it ready and posted by tommorrow, I hope. And I hope tommorrow still counts. But I can still upload him normally even if I don't make it in time.
As an obsessed top builder, I've been going through your tops one by one. So far, I've liked them all. In fact, I think most are heads and shoulders above your competition in the contest. This one's no exception.
