Welcome to the LEGO stuff that I build with my 13 year old son and 10 year old daughter. I started with LEGO's in about 1980 with hand me down bricks from my older sister. Then I got started with Town, Castle, and Space sets from the early 1980's. I kept the sets including all the directions, catalogs, and a fair number of the original boxes including the famous "Yellow Castle." My "Dark Ages" started when I turned 13 years old lasted until about 34. There were a few bright spots in between, like when I sporadically got town sets as they came out with new things that were interesting to me like construction vehicles and hot rods. Then I picked up some of the original issue Star Wars sets and put them away for later in life. Along the way, I got married and added my wife's childhood sets and her brother's childhood bricks. Then I had two kids and started them with Quattro, Duplo, and then regular bricks when they hit 4 years old. And the old bricks and sets came back out and have been bolstered by new sets and individual element purchases on Bricklink.com. My daughter has won 3 national LEGO building contests. The first win was for LEGO Club Jr. magazine at age 6. The second win was for LEGO Club magazine at age 7. The third win was for the LEGO Life app at age 10. She and my son have also each won a local LEGO building contest.
