My passion for 'modern' Lego ignited about a year ago in 2017, when my then 3 year old moved on from Duplo to my 'old' (1980-1990s) Systems collection. I reacquainted myself with my collection, and began to catch up on new pieces and build techniques in the past 20~ years.
Outside of Lego, I have a passion for cars, so my first planned ‘project’ was to MOC my car, scaled to the larger sized wheels available from S&H. I had soon realised that the volume of pieces required was substantial, and being influenced by the ‘modern’ 6 wide car builds in the City and Speed Champion series, I changed my approach and started with 6 wide projects. This also worked well as my son was able to play with them in our own ‘Lego city’.
As I am still exploring pieces and build techniques, I am sticking to standard windscreens and slopes, and staying away from odd angles from hinges etc. This suits me fine, as it allows the models to be ‘swooshable’ by my son.
