The road to the Hyrvic empire is long, and particularly boring, being naught but sandy dunes with the occasional desert shrub. With the peace of the Iron Citadel behind them, the Agori settled into the rhythm of walking, and their minds and mouths wandered.

[Break time! Feel free to talk in character as you please. The story will resume soon, depending on how much people want to talk.]

Hiiro, Ramses, Asahina, and Stronoff caught up to the others after the battle.

"Everyone! We have trouble, my father is here on this island and have sent his troops to hinder our quest!" Hiiro warned them.

E'loc grabbed his new crossbow. "Then I'll make sure to give him a hot-foot he'll never forget," he said to Hiiro.

E'loc grabbed his new crossbow. "Then I'll make sure to give him a hot-foot he'll never forget," he said to Hiiro.

"If we run into him, I gave you the chance." Hiiro replied.

Ramses looked at the desert. "Seriously? Why can't we travel through a more pleasant area?" He complained.

"Buck up, Ramses! We're walking." Stronoff told him as he started walking.

Asahina check on the boar to make sure that he's alright.

Pontel, now riding in the luxury of his cart, hummed along merrily. He sharpened the Greatsword as he rode along, occasionally taking breaks to work on his unwieldy contraption. With only a few misfires or blow outs, his invention seemed to be working more consistently now.

Pikau had, as usual, been alternating between jogging several yards ahead of the group and lagging behind as he spotted some new organism on the wayside and stopped to record it. Even in a landscape as barren to the untrained eye as this, there were still hundreds of unnamed and undiscovered species just waiting to be documented. Just now, a trail of insects caught his attention. Stooping to get a better view, he reached into his Pack to grab his magnifying glass only to find it wasn't there. Then he remembered why. With a glare that could wither crops, Pikau stood up and waited for a certain cart and rider to pass him by...

Rongo looked up from his reading to the cot situated next to him. Kae had been steadily recovering mass thanks to the Spit of Runsas and Rongo's expert care, but she was still comatose. He had thought he heard a rustle of movement just now...

All was black. There were screams, and the ground shook. Then all was quiet. So quiet... Kae seemed to be lost in a void for all eternity.

But then, slowly, Kae came to. She opened her eyes with a moan, glancing around at her surroundings. Her eyes came to rest on the face of Rongo. He smiled lightly at her. “Wh-where am I? What happened?” Kae questioned wearily.

Tuhinga trudged along with the rest of the Agori. He was looking wearily at his precious blade. He was a coward. He’d just sat there as that monster attacked his friends. He’d done nothing. And he couldn’t stop thinking about it. “Never again,” he thought to himself, “I will never again stand by and let my friends get hurt.” He sighed and strapped his blade to his back, and continued walking endlessly...

Asahina kept Runsas company as they travel as Hiiro kept a eye out for trouble. Stronoff scout ahead as Ramses trough the sands as he couldn't stand the heat.

Hiiro was thinking about what had happen so far on their journey as he tighten his fist as he gets readied when the time comes for him and the others to face his father.

"Oi, good to 'ave you back on this side lassie. You're on my cart, recovering from a rather nasty bit of fluid loss. Let's see, while you were out the party trounced the Consort and collected the Remnant of Ihanne, then exited the citadel only to find it besieged by quite the 'ideous monstrosity. That was dispatched after an arduous conflict, and now we're on our way to someplace called the Hyrvic Empire to meet with an empress of some sort."

"Now-" Rongo said as he whipped the medicinal instruments he'd had primed for this precise occurance and began a thorough examination, "-'ow're you feeling?"

Joven walks along with the rest of the group, happy to not be fighting titanic monsters for once. And although the journey was quite hot for most of the travelers, Joven had found refuge in the shade of Pontel's cart.

E'loc continued walking. It was not the first time he had to travel in desert conditions, so he was quite comfortable, though he did have remove his cloak. To keep himself amused, he was pondering how much extra he'd charge the Agori that, indirectly, caused him to get stranded on the island.

(OCC: I just thought that it would make sense that E'loc would have some experience from his job as a mercenary)

"No. You know what I want." Pikau would have said more, but he noticed Joven slinking behind in the shade of Pontel's cart, trying very hard not to be seen and walking well within earshot. Glowering, Pikau grabbed the bag and waited for the entire group to pass before checking its contents...

"Well you seem to be in good shape, I don't see why not." Rongo motions to Albert to stop the cart and helps Kae off the cot and onto her feet. "I'll hold on to your weapons 'til you feel up to carryin' 'em. I'm in the 'aravan if you should need anything!" He calls back as the cart rolls away, leaving Kae to her own devices.

Pepeke milled around mindlessly, not really interested in anything.
A large centipede crawled over his foot, scrambling for cover. He glanced down and his eyes behind his mask popped wide open.
In a flash, his journal and pencil were out, and he was crawling after the centipede, trying to sketch it and write it down as an entry.

"OhHiJoven!" Pikau says bolting upright, hurriedly closing the bag and swifty sitting on it as unsuspiciously as possible. A few seconds pass.

Then his brain catches up to the question.
"Oh, you mean Kae? I saw her get off the cart a few moments ago, so I guess she must be feeling better. Rongo would know more though, you should go ask him-" Pikau hoped that deflection would end of the conversation and Joven would go away, but he noticed something about the tall Agori's mannerisms and his curiosity got the better of him. "-Wait a second, are you... nervous?"

Stronoff scouts the area as Hiiro does the same with Asahina petting Runsas as they travel.

"And you are certain that this is the correct way, Master Beowulf?"

Far ahead of the group, Merimies and Beowulf plodded along, as the latter puzzled over a map. It had promised a pathway through a land of great jungles and verdant forests, but as far as any eye could see, the land before them was barren. Perhaps it was once filled with lush greenery, but whatever cataclysm had occured thousands of years ago had turned it into a desert, devoid of any life, save the heroes that now traversed it.

"I already tried flipping it over; this is the correct path down to this 'Hyrvic Empire'. We should reach a coast within a day or two, and then we can go south to hit a village. From there, we can restock our food and water, since it's a hike to the capital."

"Very well then, Master," Merimies said, nodding slowly as they continued to trek through the wastes. Soon, they would find themselves back in a more hospitable environment. Hopefully.

[The officially-sanctioned break will end soon (tm). Stay tuned for the resumption of the main story.]

"Wait, coast? Which means...WATER!" Ramses ran off in hurry hoping to reach the coast quickly as possible.

"Brother, wait!" Hiiro give chase to make sure that Ramses doesn't get himself in too trouble as Stronoff chuckled at the brothers antic.

Asahina just sweat drop as Runsas gave a confuse look to the two agori.

Pikau had been momentarily distracted by cataloging a new species of bird passing overhead and took a while to return his gaze to the tall Agori, who was now practically squirming in his boots.

"Sorry, that couldn't wait. Oh, no real reason, just that now that Kae's awake again and out of eyesight you've been slinking about the caravan and haven't stopped fidgeting this entire conversation. Come to think of it, you've been ignoring and avoiding Kae this entire journey, Especially when we first met her on the Harbor's Pride. It doesn't take a master scientist to see something's going on, I wonder what it could be...?" Pikau finished, wiggling his eyebrows tauntingly as he awaited Joven's response...

Pikau let out a sigh of relief. Finally, the space he needed to repack his returned belongings. He gets off the bag, only to swing off his Backpack and sit down again, beginning to unpack...

A few minutes later a panting, exhausted Pikau jogged up to the back of the party, his Pack heavier than before but his heart lighter.

Stronoff looked up and saw some of the birds circling the group from the air assuming expecting a free lunch if one of them die from thirst. He pulled out his spear to give the birds a warning if they get any funny ideas. "Try it and you're the ones going to be our meal of the day." He told the bird as they back for now.

Ramses spotted a pond. "That must be the coast!" He shouted as he ran off and made a splash in the 'pond'.

"Brother, wait I think that you should know-" Hiiro tried to warn him.

"Don't worry there is plenty for everyone." Ramses assured as he swam around before taking a sip only to realize that it wasn't a pond as he spat out sand.

"I was trying to tell you that it's mirage." Hiiro pointed out to him.
