Halloween is not a pagan holiday, its origins are related to All Saints Day on the Christian calendar, hence all hallows eve. Nothing you state is associated with the actual holiday. The oft mistaken neopagan holiday Samhein (summers end) is not actually associated with any of those acts either. You're more citing nefarious acts of Detroit circa 1970's or partial myths demonizing non-believers by Christian missionaries during the conversion of the Celtic and Gaelic peoples before the 11th century.

1) Catholic calendar
2) Um, Druids sacrificed for humans which is how we get the jack-o-lantern. They would a person from each house. Then they would place a jack-o-lantern in front of the house to protect the rest of the family from demons.
3) All Hallows eve you could commit as much sin as you please (rape, murder, destroction of property) and then "repent the next day and be fine."

1. No, christian calendar. Catholics are christians and that day is observed by many denominations.
2. This is false. Human sacrifice among the druidic peoples was greatly exaggerated by Patrick and even so was a not associated with the fall rituals anyway. Gourd lanterns are 10,000 years old, the ones we use today date mostly from the 18th and 19th century to "ward off evil spirits" in a manner similar to a scarecrow. Used to be turnips.
3. That is patently false. If any date has such traditions in the christian calendar it is Shrove Tuesday before ash wednesday from which comes the festival of Carnival / Mardi Gras. The traditions of the Halloween era are primarily to ward off ill spirits not to invoke or incite violence. The legacy of costuming comes from this as well as the tradition of dressing as a saint during allhallowstide.

You haven't done anything, and I hate to break it to you, but this holiday is far more adult than most kids ever realize. For a lot of adults it's our favorite holiday, and many of us still dress up or go to parties for it.

As to why I got on this little rant is because I dislike misinformation and will correct it.

Dear James Y:
Catholics are as different from Christians as Pegans. Catholics worship "gods" called saints. Christians do not. Catholics pray to Mary or Ann. Christians pray to Jesus. Catholics believe- most Catholics believe that you can do as you please so long as you repent (I.e. $Äx before marriage, drinking, smoking, gambling etc.). Christians are more- again I must make this disclaimer, MOST Christians are more strict because we read the bible. I will be presumptuous and assume you are a non-christian simply due to your ignorance. The holidays celebrated by Catholics are not always celebrated by Christians. Why? Back in 1517 there was this wonderful thing called the Protestant reformation. What was that? It was where Christians and Catholics split up. You should be able to google it. Maybe not, but it's worth the time. What Catholics celebrate are what Catholics celebrate and the same is true with Christians. Some holidays line up others do not. The origins of Halloween are satanic and if you think otherwise you are wrong but it is neither my place nor the time for me to stand on a soapbox.

(sigh) You do not know anything about Catholics, let alone pagans, and you certainly don't know history. Virtually everything you just said is a flat out falsehood.

In brief, for the benefit of those who might want to learn the truth: Catholics are a denomination of Christianity, one of the early major denominational splits along with the Coptic, Aramaic, and Orthodox churches in the early centuries. The protestants are a offshoot branch of Catholicism, starting with the Lutherans and the Anglicans. After which you get the Calvinists, and other denominational splits, many of which in the west accelerated during the great revival of the 19th century from which you get groups like the Southern Baptists (now the largest denomination in the US). At no point did one branch become "Christian" and the other "not Christian" they are all part of the greater tree of the Christian theological faith, which in and of itself is a branch of the three major Abrahamic religions which includes Islam and Judaism.

If you can't accept the history, that's not my problem, but I will take umbrage at you calling 1.1 billion Catholics non-Christians because you don't understand the mores and tenants of your own faith's history.

As to the morality of Halloween, that's your choice to think it's wrong, but most Christian doctrine and history don't really support that argument.

P.S. Don't presume about my religious beliefs.

Just to add in a quick 2 cents.

The Protestant Reformation was started when Martin Luther nailed his Ninety-five Theses on the doors of a Catholic Church. It was then expanded by other Protestants. But this doesn't mean that the Catholics split from Christians, it was when Catholics (a type of Christian) split with Protestants (another type of Christian.

So technically, it was a split of ideals, rather than a whole religion. Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans, Protestants etc. may have different forms of worship, but they are all, essentially, Christians.

Also, the origins of Halloween date back to, as you say, Celtic times. As far as I know, the Celts didn't believe in Satan, and the holiday itself was celebrated to ward off bad spirits and the like. In a way, that's kind of the opposite of satanic worship.

Anyway, thanks for reading my 2 cents!

There are actually a lot of religions that have similar festivals of various sorts, and yes many of them are quite old. We often associate Halloween now days with the Celts, but in the era of the first Allhallowstide events, it was actually based more on the Roman Day of the Dead. The Celtic influences didn't appear until much much later in the traditions that exist now. Samhein, in particular, is a harvest festival more than it is a festival of spirits, though the beliefs coincided. You are correct that the Druidic religions did not believe in, or worship, a Satanic figure. The association was mostly made by early Christian Missionaries when trying to stamp out the druidic faiths. They did the same thing in Meso-America with the Aztecs and Incan religions. If it wasn't Christianity (at that time Catholicism specifically) it must be Satanic. It's part of the purging carried out by the church during the Middle Ages.

As well as spend hours and hours searching for that one piece that you so desperately need in that specific colour.

And knowing you saw it when you didn't need it and then having it leave this plane of existence, never to be seen again.

Or finding out it doesn't exist (2x2 orange dish where are you?)

Never have to worry about brick separators (I have at least 6 of the new orange ones), getting cut, poked, or having to dig for a piece in LDD, and every piece is in every color. Ah how I love my Ocean Lord and his translucent wings!

Omnipotent means all powerful. Omniscient is all-knowing, and is probably what you meant, as you, the writer knows the thoughts of every character.

Omniscient writing typically involves no "I", as this is first person and omniscient is almost always, if not always third person. It is not too uncommon, but you would have to use character's names a lot with any third person, as "he" and "she" are often inadequate should more than one character of the same gender appear in a scene.

Wrong side of the continent, although I am not going to be more specific than states, as I think it becomes too personal, and it's a safety concern.

As far as building starships, they are of two entirely different size classes.

Wait, now I am a bit lost. Okay, East Coast, MD, one ship is around the size of an escort or science vessel in Star Trek terms and the other is a heavy dreadnought battle carrier cruiser - a cruiser with 2 superbays - large hangars, the vessel is also very large, heavily armored, and extremely advanced, as is the first ship.
