A Lego Element

A thousand bits all blasted into scrap,
stained red like blood, or cloth, or warning lights
heated to four-ninety Kelvin, forced
into imperfect squares. An era ends.

Then pop! From flame is born a hero pure,
its corners sharp and studs in rows of fouró
whisked away by metal hands. Retrieved
among the masses, for a purpose new.

Within a box, the tell-tale noise is heard.
A child smiles. The piece has done its job.

The Build

The bricks and studs
And myriad colours
Whispering silently form the bins
Waking ideas from their slumber

Coaxing them out from the depths
From the bottomless pits of your mind
So there you must sit, and build and think
To bring physical form to your design

For Days and days
The brick built labour continues
Of putting parts upon each other
Finally insanity and and dispair ensues

At last it is done
It's finished, kaput
But when you step back you realize
You space ship looks like a poop

like many a child
Before and after
I sought to make a moc

I thought I'll make a pirate ship,
But I have not a mast
So next I thought a castle
But of grey I also lacked

I never mad that moc
Instead I played outside
But at least
I tried

The problem with photography,
Of little LEGO bricks,
Is that a setup costs money,
Especially lighting pics,
So amateurs with little cash,
Just go and use the sun,
The trouble is the wind will bash,
Your LEGOs which tain't fun.
(infinitesimal and humble apologies for using an 's' after LEGO to all fanatics)

Such a simple thing, small, studded, and square,
Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene molded with care,
Row by row, and case by case you stand in wait,
Ever vigilant, ever ready and willing to create,

Come forth warriors of my mindís eye,
Bring your inspiration; let me touch the sky,
Tumble forth, colors dancing and spinning about,
It is time once more to bring my visions out.

Hours will come, and hours will go,
Aching back and sore fingers will I know,
My eyes ache and vision begins to blur,
Each click bringing me that much closer,

Cases by case you file into place,
This endless daunting personal race,
Each piece to hold, support and stand,
That idea, that vision, in my hand,

A faint light, dawn is creeping close,
The pace slows, and I begin to doze,
Capping it off, finished at long last,
One more masterpiece, what a blast!

(I told you the inspirational tank was low, this is probably the best you'll get from me right now.)

A Short Limerick About Lego:

Legos are cool and fun
But remember, as soon as you're done
Get them up off the ground
Or you'll be likely to pound
Some bricks right into your [another word for foot that rhymes with fun]

Yeah, I'm so gonna lose.

A question that we ask ourselves
Amongst lifeís troubled woe
Is how to fill our wooden shelves
With even more LEGO?

Because, my friends that stay indoors
Weíre always one piece short
Scrambling through our LEGO drawers
We fear itís all for naught.

But at least there is no need for grief
As Bricklink offers us relief.
