Your Favorite Lego Fire Truck

I would like to see fellow group members share with the group their favorite piece of Lego apparatus and post a comment as to why it is their favorite. I will start a separate topic for what we all think is our best favorite piece of Lego apparatus. ---- There is a difference. My favorite is my 1972 Mack CF Tower Ladder, but I donít think that it is the best thing I have built. I have built trucks that were much more technically challenging and detailed. ---- My 1972 Mack CF Tower Ladder is my favorite probably because these trucks are among my favorite rigs and have a number of memories seeing these in action when I was a kid in NYC and then in college in Vermont, where they actually had three former FDNY towers. Once, I got to see all three of them in action at one fire.

My personal favorite truck at the moment might have to be Truck 1, which is a 2017 Pierce Arrow XT 100' HD tiller. It is my favorite because it is a tiller, a truck I have been fascinated with since I was a kid :)

I have built two tillers. There is my 1947 American-LaFrance, which is on MOC Pages. I also built a 2007 KME TDA in 2007. Its on Brickshelf http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=263341. It is one of the few trucks I disassembled. It just didn't fit anywhere. In any event, tillers are challenging to build and your Truck 1 is a very good example of a Lego TDA - you have lots of nice details.

I didn't know that you built a modern tiller. It looked awesome! Do you have plans to create another tiller?

Thanks for your kind words! It sure took me a while to get the details right. I initially wanted all my trucks to be tillers, but then I was attracted to rear-mount towers and Aerialscopes, hence the diversity in my rigs. In any case, you should've seen how outrageous my tillers looked before haha

My favorite Lego fire apparatus is my "Backdraft" Chicago Ward LaFrance engine. It was fairly challenging for me, but I was able to add enough working doors/cabinets to be satisfied. I'm a huge fan of working doors/cabinets on apparatus, but, of course, not every size door/cabinet/window is made by Lego. The 1x3x2 red doors average $1/each new, and I wish Lego made 1x4x2 red doors!

The lego doors are difficult to get in the right sizes. You should try experimenting with brick built functional doors. I have started using them on my trucks, and they work pretty well for me.

My favorite truck I have built right now is my Tower 104, which I finished a few months ago. I don't have pictures of it up yet. Hopefully I will be able to post it soon.

My Mack CF tower ladder is my favorite of my models. One reason I feel this way is how good it looks in action. The best example of this is the incident I posted this fall Ė 1973 Structure Fire. I just added this incident to the group. So now I ask, what is everyoneís favorite incident that they have posted. I know that not everyone has, but a lot of you have.
