Thanks for all the uploads so far. There was no group that was organized so people could see speed champions cars all in one place. If you know anybody else that builds the style of car let them know about the group.

I think they are not really SC style

so what's the ruling here? all 6 wides? 6 wides using some SC parts, or full SC style?

6 wides in Speed Champion style. Speed Champion parts use is a bonus, but not a requirement.

other than width I see no reason to not count that as speed champions, not after Lego themselves have is an 8 wide Ford Raptor (comically huge)

A choice from Lego I never will understand - regarding the Ford Raptor :) Okay, will add my other stuff ;) Thanks a lot!

Hi guys. I'm a 52 year old AFOL and just recently discovered Speed Champions after I bought some for my kids for Christmas. I've been building Lego Fire Apparatus since 2004 and am one of the founding members and moderator for the LMFD (Lego Metro Fire District est. 2005). I just built a MOC that is based off of Dennis B's RX-7. Ill post pics later. A Nazca C2 is in the works based/copied from Marc "Edge" R.unde design. I also have a 1966 Mustang project lined up that will be all original.

Do you think I should add my 8 wide Porsche Cayenne S that was built with speed champions parts? I didn't want to break my own rules, but I didn't realize the Ford Raptor was that wide.

Should I revise the guideline allowing trucks to be 7 or 8 studs wide if they are built in the SC style?

given the the Theme is a reflection of Lego's creations I don't see an issue with trucks being wider. the gray area though is when you actually look at the real world widths of cars and realize that the raptor is not the widest vehicle in the speed champs line!

widths:
Ford Raptor: 79.9 inches
Porsche 917K: 81.9 inches
LaFerrari: 78.4 inches

My second MOC is done. I copied Marc "Edge" R.unde's 1991 Italdesign Nazca C2. I loved the car, so I built my own. Don't know if I'll post pics since it's a copy. I have a 1966 Mustang and Toyota Supra planned.

Thanks for the invite Blaine, and hello to everyone else! Seems like this is gonna be an interesting group.

I too think it makes sense to allow for rides that are wider than 6 wide, with 8 studs as the maximum. It helps too that I'm finishing up a 7 wide pickup and another hypercar that's 7 studs wide at the rear :)

A 31 year old dutch AFOL here btw. Looking forward very much to see all the mocs that will be posted here!

More power to you, that would totally not happen for me at 42. My life revolves around my kids travel basketball and being vice president at an engineering company. Legos (and Hot Wheels) help me destress and spend time with the kids.

Both of those hobbies are very expensive though. I have 1 million builds in my head but don't have the money to buy the bricks I need. Every once in a while I can sneak $30 worth on brick link to build a new speed champions car though.

Your red and white 911's are fantastic. I just built a 934.5 race car in Speed Champions style. I'm waiting for three bricklink orders to come with the parts in the correct colors, then I can post it.

Looking forward to seeing that very much! I have a 7 wide pickup truck ready for pictures but I can't find the trailer that I built for it. It's still somewhere in a box (in the process of moving).

Well i had to, my knees are too worn to stay in my current trade. I used to drive trucks, but driving manual shift and jumping up and down from the cab and loadspace has taken it's toll :-( I have no kids or other obligations (except maybe my cat) though, so that made my decision to begin studying much easier.

And yeah, Lego is an expensive hobby! Apart from time, money is the other reason i don't build much these days. I don't like to take apart a build i like, so almost all the stuff i have posted on my page still exists which leaves me with no parts to build new stuff from.

I feel your pain. I injured my back severely 22 years ago, so my LEGO building is limited by how much pain I'm in after work and family obligations.

I used to take everything apart, but my kids have talked me into displaying my MOC's at a convention for the first time in October 2017.

Since I bought the 911, my wife is watching my spending like a hawk. I have to get all LEGO purchase pre approved. :(

Ouch, that sounds bad! :-O I guess i'm more fortunate then, my knees only bug me when i push them too hard.

Sounds great that your mocs are going on display, that's a good reason to not take them apart :-)

Too bad you have to have your LEGO purchases pre-approved :-( In that situation, i guess i would claim that the price is only half of the actual price :-D

I finished my 2017 Porsche 911 RSR design now. I'm waiting on a bricklink order for two black triangle shaped roof bricks that are holding me up. I didn't realize that the seller I bought them from was out of the country until February 22, ugh. I have the pieces in red from when I was a kid but I need them in black to do the striping correctly. Hopefully I will be able to upload at the end of the month.

I just finished my Speed Champions 1976 930 Turbo. I need to order more parts on Bricklink before I post it.

Parts for my 2017 RSR should be here in a week.

I took Petey Bird's advice and switched to a different side stud bracket for my two Porsche 911's and closed the gap on the side. I also added a 2x6 black curved plate on the front instead of the 2x4 plate. I think they look a lot better now.

That reminds me that one car enthusiasts' Internet gag about how bad it would be if one happened to pass away and his wife sold his parts for the price he said he paid for them lol

I'm sorry to hear that back problem of you, Blaine. I'm sure you've already got used to it, but still that's quite of an hard thing to pass through. Still, glad to see you've managed to keep on and have your family's support and the motivation of your hobby to keep going strong!

I would use a short wheel base, possibly the 6 studs between fenders like my 911’s. If you go less than that the car might end up too “square.”
