Favorite Ship?

So I instantly had a favorite ship after seeing all the ships (which can be found at https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/ships), and that was the Freelancer. What is your favorite ship?

Your choice is a good one, but personally I dig the carrack the most. Far too pricey to buy now, but I figure I can make money in game with my Constellation Taurus to work my way up to it!

That is, you mean, when the game fully comes out? Or did they add a currency that you could buy it with? I thought they weren't out of the $$$ phase yet. Are they now?

P.S. I love the constellation! Question, though. How is the Taurus different from the Andromeda? They look the same on the outside.

Nah you're right, won't be able to buy in game till they release the real deal I guess. Still sounds like it'll be a while. Umm let's see, the Taurus is the cheapest, so it has a tad more cargo space but no snub nose fighter attached and I figure there will be some other things they cut out. Maybe it just has one turret? I also think they'll make it looks less polished and fancy inside and out haha.

Typical money-grabbers. they purposely make things less "cool" so we have to buy more. It's a simple little switch they turn off, and we have to pay a lot to get it back on. Yea, I can't believe I'm okay with that. I hope the final product is less corrupt, and not restricted by out of game purchases. I hope they finish it, soon.

*Sigh* for now, we'll just have to wait.

so, what do you think of the snub fighter?

Yeah haha, I have felt frustration at times that they are a bit stingy with what they give ya for what you pledge. For $200 I thought I'd be able to get a gigantic ship and as I don't plan on sinking a ton of time in general into it, I figured I'd give myself a leg up to start. I do see the other side of the story though in that nobody forced me to spend $200 on a connie... and it is really meant to be people pledging support to help them develop a special one of a kind game without the constraints of a normal studio. I did get quite a bit of promised content with that purchase so in the end I'm satisfied if not a little worried about how many hours it'll take me of slogging through trade lanes to make enough money to upgrade ;) As far as the final product, I too very much hope they limit in-game purchases with real money. So far they are claiming it isn't about that, so we'll see.
I'm not a huge fan of the design of the connie's snub fighter... just not my style. I think my favorite fighter by looks is the sabre, though there are a lot of great designs!

Yea, that's about how I feel, too. I wish they wouldn't get too deep into detail, though. They put too much into making sure certain things are perfect, when they really should make the game functional first, then put in all that amazing detail...
I just want to fly a ship, warp it to somewhere, unload cargo, get paid, then occasionally participate in a battle. I don't care about the detail, just put me in a ship that I can walk around inside, then it will already be better than most space survival/exploration games.

It's kind of stress-relieving to talk about it. I don't know how many times I glitched through a ship and into space during only the Aegeis freefly. It was fun and worth it, though.

Ha yeah it is supposedly less buggy now but yeah still a ways to go. And I don't envy them deciding what to release when... Hard to make the right call :). Agreed that I just want to play some of the sweet promised functionality. Luckily some great stuff is coming very soon!

Good! Last Free-fly I had a ton of bugs. I couldn't even get into my ship. I am glad, though that there is another Free-fly until Tuesday. I'll get to see alpha 2.6.3 and what's new with it. I installed it, but haven't had the time to open it up yet. We'll see how good it gets then. I am very excited to fly the hornet, though.

Nice! And I heard 3.0 is coming over the summer with cargo functionality and planets!

Oh, good! I was expecting it to be a lot later. I'm going to love the cargo functionality the most, because I have always wanted to be a space merchant.

I tried the Free-fly. It was so cool! I got to ride with some drake guy in a freelancer... I crashed a lot, but hey, who cares....
It was very fun! I only experienced one glitch, which was when I fell through the freelancer controls 2 times. I got back in okay, though.
I I just tried, and really like, the warp system, even though I don't exactly know how long its been around. I got lost a lot, because the arrays are so new to me. I thought that your character was just stuck at Olisar.

I definitely do not regret trying out the Free-fly.

Awesome! Glad to hear you enjoyed the free fly. Yeah there's a lot of functionality in there already eh. And good that it was mostly stable haha.

I wish they would do a starter pack freefly. Then I would be able to see if a starter is worth my dollar. I guess I'll just wait...

By the way, what ships do you have in Star Citizen? Do you recommend them?

Yeah it would be good to have more of the starter ships available for people to try. I have a Constellation Taurus which I think is really cool, but was pretty pricey at $200. My brother has the avenger I think (white and black) and it is pretty sweet but he doesn't really play yet. My friend has a hornet and has tried a sabre, but I think both of those are a bit on the expensive side too.

The constellation is so sweet! I rode in one on a previous freefly, although it was extremely buggy then.

So, do you think that the ship gets more worth your dollar the higher the price? or is it a steady incline between price and quality?

I'm the only Star Citizen fan in my family. Ah, well.

You know... it's hard to say about "worth your dollar" questions since we haven't seen the real gameplay yet with trading and other professions and really how things will go in the verse. I'd say that it probably is never quite worth the money beyond the basic packages because they're really looking for backer money at that point, so it's less about giving you a ship worth say $200, than it is about money to help develop the game. That's my ten cents!
Yeah I hear ya, I just have one friend who is into it, I bought starters for both my brother and my brother in law, and so far I don't think they've really tried it at all. Hopefully with 3.0 I can get them more into it and I'll also start spending a little more time, and maybe even get more friends to join!

definitely. I'll try on my end, too! Man, I can't wait to see what 3.0 is like. It sounds so good.
