ACT 1: A Blood Red Night.
 Group admin
200 Years have passed since the Hero Factory fell, Hero teams are few and far between, struggling to make by in a cruel and unforgiving world. Every scrap of resources is fought for with every scrap of strength. most Heroes tend to operate in the cover of night, which even then provides a challenge...

Hero Team Delta Echo is a small, but effective team. Dealing with many criminals and gangs on the outer skirts of the city. They are known to make the best out of darkness, however many of them have been known to become jaded, cold and...broken.

"Scrap!" Magnum cursed, dropping his wrench again. He quickly grabbed it as he resumed his work. modifying his rifle. The rest of the base was rather quiet, with only the sound of metal clanks and the humming of machinery breaking up the monotony. The sun had just risen, yet a portion of the team had not returned from their mission from the night before. It was the norm to leave before midnight, and return shortly after. the best case scenario was that they were held up by mechanical difficulties or unexpected crimes. the worst case... Magnum shook the thought off, Scaler had always returned with lightning speed and minimal damage. Which only made the current situation more worrying.

Firearm sat there, staring. Below him, amongst the rubble, stood a gang of criminals, gathered around a campfire, guffawing drunkenly. By them was a pile of Hero parts. Head. Cores. Weapons. Firearm's fingers tightened into a fist. His pulsar cannon was unconsciously rising, slowly, carefully. He wanted to destroy them. Burn them. Make them pay for the lives they'd taken. He shook his head and backed away from the ledge of a ruined patio where he'd been crouching. There would be time for revenge later, he thought.

Then he whirled around, suddenly ablaze with fury. He pulsar cannon was charged, glowing green and fiery. He was so tempted. He longed to blow them to pieces and teach them a lesson. With an effort he powered down his weapon and turned. He continued to walk away. He didn't bother being stealthy now. He didn't care what came after him now.

He would make them burn...

Scaler watched the slender, scarlet form of Firearm walk back from the cliff face, powering down his weapon. The electric eyes on Scaler's sullen face flickered slightly: he was an old model and he knew his days would be numbered. He tilted his discoloured helmet at Firearm.

"You know it's not worth it." He said in a tired, electronic voice- the facade of humanity was peeling away bit by bit, and his damaged voice-box was no longer able to replicate the accent of a human. "Do you remember when I tried to do what you were just about to do?" With his bulky plasma cannon he gestured the stump that was once his right arm, "It's not like how how it used to be- we have no power anymore. You need to remember that."

Scaler twitched as sparks flew from his joints- a spasm familiar to him at this point.

Firearm looked at Scaler for a moment, taking in the old bot's degrading form. He growls with frustration. "I understand that perfectly." He shoulders past Scaler, stalking away. Then he stopped and said over his shoulder darkly, "But if any of them get in the way on the trip back home... I'll see them blown into smithereens."

"So when do we plan on getting home?" he asked.

Scaler turned his head towards StingBlade, the faint whine of exposed servos emanating. "We are long overdue. Magnum is probably giving himself a core-attack at the moment. We need to pick up the pace." He trudged slowly up the hill of rubble, following Firearm.

He stopped and turned to the timid form of the young hero; he felt the deepest sympathy for StingBlade- the crushing hopelessness of disillusionment was yet ahead for the poor robot; how he yearned for a time where such purity could prosper, and not be smothered by the dark fog of despair.

Scaler did well to mask his wretched feelings from the boy: "Are you coming?"

Firearm gave Scaler a 'Really? I had no idea!' look. For the briefest moment he had a most insane urge to power up his pulsar cannon and fire off a round, just to spite the old bot. He mastered the urge without difficulty and continued walking, only going so far as to say "Define 'noise'."

Firearm gave a synthetic snort. "We're outnumbered a million to one, with no reinforcements, limited ammunition, and all we are is a rag-tag group of heroes, one of which is on his last legs!" Firearm exclaimed, gesturing towards Scaler. "I think a more accurate term would be 'dead men walking'! 'Soldiers' is just bad comedy! I say let those swine come! The more we get rid of now, the better!"

Scaler paused momentarily, to process the words Firearm had just spoken- finally, the broken voice spoken again- "True, I'm sure fighting a ton of villains would satisfy your honour well enough, but at this point, it's more important that we return home unharmed. Now stop arguing with me and follow my lead!" Scaler shot ahead of the two heroes and marched firmly ahead.

Firearm staggered back with a mechanical grunt. Then he powers up his pulsar cannon and fires it. A powerful blast of plasma erupts from the tip and slams into a pile of rubble, sending metal, wood, glass, and other materials flying. A criminal wielding a black rifle emerges from the pile, firing bullets at the hero. As they deflect or bounce off of his armor, Firearm charges his weapon and fires, blowing the attacker off the face of the map. "This is more my taste! BRING IT ON!" He laughs.

Firearm continues to pelt the attackers with plasma rounds, sending one flying back through a wall, and taking another in the leg. He frowns as he hears a beeping from his arm and looks down. He reads the message on a readout on his helmet 'WEAPON OVERHEATED. COOL DOWN TIME: FORTY SECONDS'. Firearm blinks. Then he looks at the advancing criminals. "Er, Scaler! Another cannon would be nice right around now!"

Firearm hesitated. He loathed to leave Scaler behind, and he loathed leaving the battle even more than that. Finally, with a dull growl, he nodded his assent. "Just make sure you get your chassis back to base."

Firearm pulled back, firing off rounds from Stingblade's pistol, wondering when his cannon would cool down completely. "C'mon kid, we gotta go!"

Scaler eyed the horde of villains heading towards him. He then turned his attention to the sooty floor that stood between him and his foes. Within an instant, he fired his cannon downwards. A surge of orange light, followed by a black cloud of sooty debris. Scaler had been launched backwards as a result of the impact and used his simulated smokescreen to follow after Firearm and StingBlade.

Once the dust had fully cleared, the denizens of thugs could not see the hero anywhere, and so returned to their regular business. They cared not if two or three heroes got to live another day; they were a dying breed, and were of little consequence outside of victims of idle fun.

"Scrap! Those Heroes need a lesson." Ryujin said to himself, as he reach for his shotgun in his tattered hooded cloak and leaped over the rubble. He fired his grappling hook and reeled himself onto another building, this time right over the Heroes.

StingBlade quickly activated his scope, zooming in on the sniper as he unslung his rifle before taking aim.

StingBlade quickly activated his scope, zooming in on the sniper as he unslung his rifle before taking aim.

Ryujin pressed a button on the side of his neck, deepening his vocal processer so they couldn't recognize him. "Surely we can make a proposition. My employer wants Scaler for 10,000 lbs of scrap metal, which is valuable to me. If you can deliver 16,000 lbs, I'll be sure to leave you all alone," Ryujin said as he pulled a small chip from his arm and dropped it through the hole Firearm made with his cannon. "If you wish to do so, this chip will allow you to send a one-way message to me. I assure you, it's not bugged. If you comply I can assure your protection and even supply you with tools and ammo. The choice is yours." He then leaped from the building onto his hoverbike and sped away towards the horizon.

Firearm snatches the chip from the air and turns to face Scaler and StingBlade. He tosses the chip to Scaler. "16,000 pounds of scrap metal in exchange for this goon leaving Scaler be, and him as an ally... sounds like a decent trade. If only we had the scrap metal, eh?" Firearm looks around, a look of mild disappointment on his metal face. "If only there were 16,000 pounds of convenient robotic criminals lying around somewhere..."

Suddenly, a faint squeaking was heard in the distance. The rusted metal feet of Callum Stealth made their way towards the team. Each footstep caused another unhealthy squeaking. Stealth looked up to the team and opened his mouth. "Did anything exciting happen out there, or was it just like every other time you all go out there?" He condescendingly wheezed. He lamented the fact that he had no one to talk to when he was in his prime, as he knew the voice he had now was a pain for anyone to hear. His voice box was damaged, creating a tin-y, distorted and mechanical tone to his already grizzled and scratchy voice.

Firearm blinks. "Perhaps you didn't hear the '13,000 pounds' part of my statement. We haven't the space, energy, or time to move that much scrap metal, nor are we in the environment to do so. Stealth re-entered the room, with one of his hand clutching a white metal plate. One of his legs was completely unrecognisable from the rusted mess he was left with earlier. The white of the shin armour spat in the face of the rest of his browning armour. His left leg drew a clear paradox with the other leg as it stood, bare from armour and thinly exposed. "I was just wondering when we were-" Stealth looked up to see an unfamiliar figure being operated on. Ryujin slowed his bike as he approached a rundown dome-like structure covered in dust. He looked at his wrist, showing a map with a blue marker blinking next to a green one. "Jackpot," Ryujin said as he hopped off and slowly crawled to the door. He then pressed a button on his neck, activating a microphone planted in the chip. The random bustling of metal and clanking gears indicated a strong presence of metal. Without hesitation, he busted through the door, saying, "So this is where the goody-twoshoes like to hang out, eh?"

"Not a subject, but the one who started it: Damian Anubis. He knows Dread is dead, and he only needs his body. Damian thinks he has found a way to raise dead Heroes and Villains with a tool he calls the "Eye of Horus". It resurrected Tumbler, and he didn't even have his core in. Scaler remained silent, his lack of rebuttal merely affirming Magnum's position. Despite the insanity of Ryujin's words, the name Anubis did unsettle Scaler greatly; a cruel bot, whom he wished never to encounter again. It took the rugged hero a great deal of composure to keep up the facade of indifference.

You are literally the only hero team I have ever had." Stealth remembered his past self, the Lone Wolf they called him. The thought of being alone again gave a chill down his spine. "I was just trying to get you all to understand that we can't just let any person barge into the door! I don't regret a thing I said!" He looked down to Sharp. "I wasn't wrong, he *could* kill Magnum if he so please. Trust me, if he did, I'd be the first to take him down, but I need you all to understand, that there's no order now...And we can't just trust anyone."

"Bro, I wasn't talking about killing Magnum! I would never do such a thing!! I was talking about ryujin!" Xavier said. As Xavier finished, firearm entered the building. "I planted a little spy cam with a mic in there, so we can still watch the debate," He whispered pulling out a datapad

Stealth looked at Xavier sympathetically. "Don't worry, I didn't think you wanted to, I was speaking...uh...allegorically, you could say." He looked down at the datapad. "Watching this unfold on a tiny datapad ain't helping anyone." The hero promptly averts his gaze back up to Firearm. "Is our timeout over yet? We promise to be good this time."

Firearm turns around to face Stealth. His eyes are filled with cold fury. "I don't think you understand how close what you said in there hit home. I don't think you understand just how much I can RELATE to what you said so carelessly. So antipathetically. I almost killed a Hero...he was on my team, he was my friend... And I almost KILLED HIM! Have you any idea how that FEELS?! Have you any idea how often I REMEMBER that moment?! Every SECOND I'm alive I see that moment replay in my mind! I see what I did... I see the anguish on his face... I see the sparks... the flash of green... the thought process... 'Why'd you shoot me? How could you shoot me? We're friends.'..." Firearm turned to Sharp. "As for you! There aren't a lot of things that make a Hero go bad, but killing an unarmed man's one of them. It makes you rot from the inside out. It turns you, corrupts you until you're no different from the criminals out there. I've been down that road, pal... and that road's dark and filled with grief and regret and pain. I've killed people... not just men without guns... I've killed women too... and... and I've killed kids... I..." Firearm goes silent for a little while. "Don't make my mistakes. It might seem unlikely that killing an unarmed man, one who's killed others, could lead to killing children... but that's how it starts. That's how it ALWAYS starts... for me... for every cold-blooded killer out there... that's how it starts..." Firearm turns away and trudges down the tattered, debris covered road, memories still flooding his mind.

Meanwhile, a few miles away. A small band of grizzled, beaten and worn bots carefully waited, patiently relaxing on various rusted vehicles. their relative silence being interrupted by a group of hover-bikes. Most of the riders wore some form of a cloak, mask or visor over their face, to protect any air intakes from being flooded with the rusty dirt. The largest bike was adorned with weapons, spikes and carried a tall, broad shouldered being, covered in dirty, beaten armor and torn robes. He brought his vehicle to a halt, cracking his blood-covered knuckles before stepping off the bike. He approached the leader of the first group, hitting the smaller being on the shoulder.

"Hareath!" He greeted, his booming voice welcoming with a hearty laugh. "How good it is to see you this day! I heard about the squad that was taken out earlier today, I was worried it was your men!"

Hareath turned to the newcomer, his slender body hidden beneath a large robe.

"Welcome, Thoradux" He replied, his cold mechanical voice attempting to convey emotion. "I see you are early for a change"

"Of course, this is a momentous occasion!" Thoradux boomed. "It is not every day a mission goes so well!"

Hareath nodded, reaching into his robes and producing a data-pad. He examined it briefly, before handing it to Thoradux. The large bot took a moment to read the screen, before handing it back to Hareath.

"Have we been found?"

"No clue, we could be heading into a trap..or it is a minor inconvenience....either way, Teslor demands this mission taken care of by day's end.

"Very well" Thoradux replied, his voice noticeably less bombastic. He turned back to his men, raising his fist.

"WE HAVE WAITED YEARS FOR THIS! NOW LETS RIDE!" He shouted, taking a seat on his bike as Hareath did the same.

"TOMORROW, WE DINE IN THE HALLS OF CHAMPIONS!" He boomed, flooring the gas as the united gangs took off.

Firearm walked through the empty, rust covered streets. His eyes were empty and wandering as he remembered... and his memories packed a wallop. They hurt him. Every last second, every last image hurt him deeply. He walked over to a pile of rubble and sat in it, his head in the palm of his hand. The guilt was killing him. Slowly, every day they tore away at him, destroying him. He didn't have a lot of time left... not if this kept happening. He'd been debating asking Ivy to wipe some of his memories clean... to wipe HIM clean. How tempting. How very tempting.

But he doubted she'd go for it. Nor would Magnum or Scaler or Sharp or anyone else. They'd stop him. Deny him freedom. Deny him peace. But he wanted it. So badly.

"Must be hard." A voice behind him said.

Firearm whirled around, pulsar cannon charged and ready. A figure, hunched over and cloaked, their features and in fact their entire body was hidden within it. It spoke with something like amusement in its voice. "Please, do put that thing away. I'm not one of these criminals you fight. I sympathize with your cause, my friend... but do not ask me to fight. I'm too old... too weak to fight. But... I can provide you with the location of a VERY interesting device."

Firearm's eyes narrowed suspiciously. No one ever gave anything away for free. However, he was interested. He slowly lowered his pulsar cannon. "What kind of device?" He asked.

"YAAAAS! I mean… er… if it's ok with you, Magnum," Xavier said

Before Magnum could even affirm Collideiscope's proposition, Scaler had run out of the dank building and out into the grey, stormy sky. It did not take long for him to notice the pack of hover bikes zooming hastily over the horizon. His eyes narrowed, as he calculated the distance between the riders and them. His orange optics then darted to the dusty sand beneath them, before firing his plasma cannon at the floor with lightning speed. A cloud of grit and ash rose up and engulfed the villains, disorientating them. He took the opportunity to return to his allies in the base.
"Now is either the time for you to come out here and back me up, or to take what we need and abandon this shack." Scaler uttered; his monotone voice was cold yet concise.

As Scaler made this remark, Stealth punched the last panel into his leg. He tested it and thankfully, the hideous screech of aged metal was no longer present. He stood up. He quickly grabbed his piped sniper and threw his robe over his neck almost in one motion. "You distract them, I'm gonna take them out from behind" he said, walking past his companion and around to a secondary exit.

In a crouched stance, he left the trashed headquarters. Dirty dust and the haze of brown clouded his vision, but he could make out where his opponents were. He spotted a deserted home nearby. He lightly sprinted towards the ghostly structure. The sound of dirt being lifted by his weightless feet were over shadowed by the shouts and yelps of confused raiders. Stealth reached the building and gave the door a strong kick. He cautiously jumped through the entrance and looked out to see if the attackers had heard him. He was in the clear fortunately. He quickly made his way up the stairs and into a bedroom. The entire roof had been blown off in that section of the home, making it suitable for sniping. There was a bookshelf tipped on its side with a husk of a former citizen behind it. He had been gone for a very long time. He walked over to the body and began dragging it away. It was only then that he noticed the man had been holding something. A child, with eyes that held no light in them any longer. Stealth would be shocked, only seeing things like this had been all he had known for his entire life. He gently held the small victim in his arms. It was a small girl. He looked around and set her on a bed. He sighed. The world had dealt this family a bad hand. He also dragged the father beside the girl on the bed, out of respect. Stealth ideally will bury them, but that is of little importance right now. With the bookshelf cleared, he crouched behind it and took his sniper out. It was rusted, and long. The worn wooden grip, covered in tape, felt warm and comfortable in the old heroes hand. The long barrel was made of simple metal tubing. It was little more than a heavily modded pistol, but Stealth had a strange attachment to her. He called her "Bec" and didn't care how much the other heroes berated him for this. If anything, Bec was the only thing he could trust in this world anymore. He went to a pouch on his waist and pulled out 4 bullets. He checked another pouch and realized he didn't have any more bullets. He put his hand to his face in disappointment. He had to make every shot count. He loaded his violent companion and pointed her towards the gang. The dust was beginning to settle, so Scaler, and anyone else who decides to help, would need to make their move promptly.

Before the mysterious figure can explain further, Firearm whips around at the sound of hoverbikes. He turns to eye the figure malevolently. "I take it you're about to deny working with whoever's out there." He said icily.

The figure opens his mouth to affirm his denial. He has no time to do so, as Firearm proceeds to punch a hole into the robot's torso with his pulsar cannon. "Thought so." He said coldly.

He turned and raced back to headquarters, only to catch sight of the marauding biker gang. He charges up his pulsar cannon and grins.

The grin resembles that of a wolf who has just found out that he's hunting a large, deaf, blind caribou who cannot run or smell or defend itself in anyway.

Said wolf is also positioned behind said large, deaf, blind caribou who cannot run or smell or defend itself in anyway.

Said wolf also has a pulsar cannon, is made of red and black metal, and its name is Firearm.

Said wolf aims his pulsar cannon and, smiling like a maniac, fires at the lead biker in a small, three man group which has broken off from the main group. The leader screams in terror, shock, pain, and a variety of other emotions which can be described in many words, as his bike goes up in flames, taking him and his two companions with him. Firearm snickers to himself.

And then there was the rapidly approaching, very angry, very drunk, and very, very big biker wielding a mace, about to pop Firearm's head neatly from his metal shoulders.

"HAREATH!" Boomed Thoradux as he fought the urge to swerve to help his comrade, he simply continued to the base, leaving one of his men to finish the scrap heap that attacked them. He drew his mace as he floored the gas, slamming it into Magnum's unsuspecting body.

Firearm gets to his feet, smiling at the biker broadly. His eyes flash as he leaps out of the biker's path, turns, grabs him by the neck with the crook of his arm, and throws him to the ground. He then proceeds to eradicate his opponent's cranial components with a well placed blast from his pulsar cannon.

Scaler returned to the spot where he had observed the criminals coming. His face remained as placid and inscrutable as ever it was, underneath his rusty silver helmet. He looked to the dull grey sky and smirked. Suddenly, what had appeared before as a tattered metal cape began to separate, as two great wings rose to his shoulder level. He bent his knees and propelled himself into the air, rising as some battered, ragged angel of death. He glided forwards towards the armada of riders beneath him. He levelled his plasma cannon down at them, peering pensively through the viewfinder. The plasma blasts came down like bright blazing meteors upon the enemy. Scaler remained silent, his face frozen into stern practicality.

"Blasted Heroes! Don't they know they're scrapped?" one of the riders cursed in a deep, drawling voice. His name was Truxor, a hulking, vacuous fellow in gunmetal and blue armour. His face was misshapen and ragged, as he wore a rather severe burn on the left side. His deep green eyes darted from Scaler up above down to the building they were racing towards.
"These dirt-bags've given us quite a bit of trouble in the past few months- ahh, we'll sort 'em out nice and proper!" He mumbled as they drove on forward.

A few of the more ambitious bikers had made their way to the door. They festered at the door, like starving rats. One set his ear against the door, he could hear Collideiscope and Ivy rapidly packing things away. He slammed on the door and mockingly screamed "I'm from the girl scouts, we wanted to know if you want some cookies!" He turned around to one of his companions and smirked. He let out a brutish scoff and opened his mouth to speak. Suddenly, a great boom was heard in the distance, followed by the sound of an object soaring through the air at a 100 miles an hour. The raiders smirk became unnoticeable as his head erupted into a million pieces right into his friends horrified face. The other fellow, now adorned with blood and oil, bellowed "GET BACK!" Yet another explosion was heard far off and the brute flew back and slumped over with a bullet lodged in his head. Stealth slumped back down behind the cover of the bookshelf. He let out a sigh of happiness and lost tension. That was two successful shots. He radioed into his fellow heroes. Despite the primitiveness, at least they got simple communications working. He held his finger to his ear and stated "I'd rather not have to get up close and personal with these bozos, but I only have 2 bullets left and I need to make them count, so you all are the brunt of the attack down there. I'll be able to get some of you out of a pickle if you need it, but I'm mostly useless up here. They are getting closer to the entrance, so someone get on that!" He lay his head against Bec. Stealth was used to the occasional attack on the base, but one of this scale was unheard of, there must be something more to this.

Firearm nodded and replied. "On it. Now then, I wonder just how much this'll hurt this guy."

Firearm then proceeded to punch an inbound rider in the chest as they passed, which, for the rider, was rather painful. So painful that this rider's sternum cracked from driving into Firearm's fist at eighty miles an hour. Firearm gave the rider a good kick as well.

For luck.

Stealth made swift work of another rider who had tried to sneak up on Firearm. "Nice move, now I'm short one more bullet. Just get to the door quick, please."

Just as Stealth put down his device, a great orange beam soared over his head and landed in the centre of the ever increasing group at the door. Two of the riders were reduced to cinders, while the others scattered in confused panic. Scaler swooped in from above Stealth's head and swung around to face his ally.
"I'm here." Scaler stated as he turned and continued his descent towards the thugs.

Firearm calmly walked through the battlefield, humming a jaunty little tune. A hoverbike swung to avoid colliding with him, and slammed into another hoverbike. Firearm aimed his pulsar cannon to the side, fired, and watched with a content 'everything is right in the world now' smile. He arrived at the door, blew up a thug, and said happily "I'm here as well. Now then, hola you-" A large explosion from Scaler's plasma cannon cut out the remainder of his sentence.

"You're awfully chipper about this whole thing, Neil." Scaler spoke through his rusty old Data-pad as he continued to fly and shoot down at the invaders: he tried his best to sound warm and jovial, though his broken, synthesised voice box would not allow him to reach outside of his typical dry, monotone range.

"Yes, well" Firearm spun around, mowing down a thug that had been behind him. "I've been told I'm absolutely insane. Several times in fact. INSANE IN THE MEMBRANE! AH-HAHAHA!"

Firearm jabbed two thugs in the stomach, one with his hand and the other with the tip of his pulsar cannon. He blasted one away, then grabbed the other one by the ear and shouted as he then bodily threw him. "ALOHA, SCRAP HEAP!"

Suffice it to say, this thug later left the battle field lacking his right ear.

Magnum drug himself to his feet, nails and screws now covered his armor. He looked to Thoradux, grabbing his rifle as he ducked another viscous strike. The brutish biker slammed Magnum into the ground as bullets were sent through his chest.

Scaler continued to shower the villains in red hot plasma from above, carefully swooping and swerving as not to hit any of his fellow heroes. He looked down absent mindedly at Firearm and Sharp, singing and laughing away as they blasted and hacked at their foes. It was certainly strange to see these two suddenly so carefree and jovial, but it was more bitter envy that burned in Scaler's mind rather than confusion. He can't remember the last time he laughed, or even smiled...

...Scaler was suddenly drawn back into reality as a great clawed hand grabbed at his skeletal peg-leg; he had allowed himself to become distracted, and had been flying just in arms reach of the enemies below. The hero was plucked out of the sky and smashed into the hard ground; he turned on his back to see a great, bulky villain staring down at him.

"You're ticking me off!" Truxor growled as he aimed his meteor blaster at Scaler's head. The hero rolled out of the way just as a shard of green energy struck the ground. Scaler began to run, with Truxor following behind; the hero tried to take off again, but the blue brute merely grabbed his leg again and smashed him into the ground.

StingBlade crouched next to the windowsill, taking careful aim before slamming the trigger. He continued this routine, dropping several thugs in a matter of seconds.

Magnum slammed his metal fist into Thoradux's face, before dodging a nasty strike from his mace. He fired again at the wounded brute as he jumped away. Thoradux roared in rage as several more gang members charged at Magnum, only to be reduced to scorching metal.

Scaler began to run, with Truxor following behind; the hero tried to take off again, but the blue brute merely grabbed his leg again and smashed him into the ground.

Seeing this from the ledge Stealth was sitting at, the lone hero grabbed his deadly mistress in his hands. Cold sweat juxtaposed the heat of the angered sun beating down on all the combatants. He took aim at the thugs charred face. With a deep breath, he made his final adjustment and quickly pulled the trigger. However, as he did this, he felt a blunt force smack him across the head. His arm flew up, knocking Bec out of line. The bullet clapped through the air as Stealth collapsed onto the ground. He turned to see that by some miracle, the bullet had ricocheted off of Tuxor's armour, staggering him and giving Scaler a chance to fight back. Stealth rubbed his head and turned to see a thin and sickly looking rider, with a grin plastered across his dirty face. He held a large club. Stealth was surprised the frail looking being could even lift the club. The menace, with a large heave, pulled the club above his head. Stealth, still dazed by the attack, rolled backwards to escape the crash the club would make. Stealth had then remembered he had been on the second story off a building with a massive gap, and he had just rolled off of a house. In a panic, he pulled two daggers from his waist. He spun them around and scraped them along the wall, slowing his descent. Once he approached the bottom of the structure, he gracefully rolled back to the ground, suffering no damage. He turned and was faced by a few more opponents. He stabbed one and vaulted over him. He en began sprinting towards the base. He needs to help the others now that he is out of bullets.

Magnum continued shooting at Thoradux, his bullets doing little to stop the raging bot. He ducked another strike as a thug ambushed him with a rusty pipe. The small bot did its best to cause some form of damage, but only scratched Magnum's worn paintjob. The Hero backhanded the wretched being across the street, the impact knocking them out cold. Thoradux took this distraction to his advantage, slamming his mace into Magnum's head.

StingBlade finished sniping another thug before slipping inside the house for a reload. He slammed another clip into his rifle as a large explosion destroyed the entire building. Outside, a group of gang members had unleashed a horrible weapon. a tool so violent and destructive it was rarely seen...

A rocket launcher.

"HOLY SCRAP!" the small hero screamed as he fought to crawl out of the explosion, his minimal and lightweight armor doing little to shield him from the attack.

Firearm looked up at Stingblade's scream and saw the fiery explosion. His eyes widen and he looks around wildly, seeking out the rocket launcher. He finds it and his eyes narrow. The wielder of the devastating weapon is too preoccupied with loading it to notice that he has been picked out by the angry red and black bot. Firearm blasts a criminal out of the way, sending them screaming away into the battlefield. Firearm proceeds to carve a bloodied path through the enemy and advance on the rocket launcher. He smashed a final hindrance's rib cage and stormed towards the bazooka operator, who, in his surprise, drops the weapon and backs away quickly. "Hola, como estas?!" Firearm shouts maniacally as he blows the upper part of the thugs torso to smithereens.

Firearm notes the bazooka.

The LOADED bazooka.

He smiles broadly.

Inhumanly broadly.

Scaler saw the bullet hit the gunmetal hide of Truxor and stagger him. The tattered hero needed no opening wider than that; he leaped to his feet and struck the villain with the broad side of his bulky cannon, knocking him down.

Scaler would have finished the villain off, but was quickly distracted by a cry of surprise from StingBlade. Truxor took advantage of Scaler's distraction and ran to meet some of his fellow thugs.

Scaler rushed to where the young hero's voice had sounded. As he reached the front doors of their base, he noticed the villain with the rocket launcher slung across his shoulder. "Oh, bleeding heck..." Scaler muttered as he aimed his plasma cannon in mid flight.

The rocket launcher-wielding thug snickered, aiming at Scaler before pulling the trigger.

Magnum hit the ground with a thud, pain searing through his head as Thoradux roared in fury, flinging the mace into the Hero's chest. Magnum spit up a bit of oil as he grabbed his pistol, only to feel Thoradux's armored foot stomp on his wrist.

"You can try and stop me, but you will be dead before nightfall" Magnum sneered.

"Wise last words" Thoradux growled, grabbing Magnum by the throat.

StingBlade found himself pinned under the building. He could hardly see anything as he tried to stand, before realizing his back was holding a large portion of the wreckage and his legs were pinned.

"Someone...help" he whimpered, struggling against the crushing rubble.

The rocket fired from the villain's weapon, and Scaler performed a rather clumsy swerve to avoid it. The rocket went careening out of sight, leaving a trail of oily smoke in its wake.

Recovering from this slight setback, Scaler propelled himself forwards, swinging one leg in front to collide with the guffawing brute's face; he then used the rest of his body to pile-drive the thug into the ground, smashing him into unconsciousness.

The hero then leaped back into the air and soared towards StingBlade.
"Hold on kid, I'm coming!" Scaler called out as he lifted a barrel, hoping to use several of them to prop up the building so that StingBlade could escape.

Stealth jumped and propelled his form towards another biker and smashed him against a wall with both his feet. He then made his way closer to the enterance of the base. He was about the crash in through the door when he caught the sight of another one of these villains attacking Magnum. Despite Stealths earlier threat, he still had some respect for his leader. He quickly made his way towards the two bots and hid behind an abandoned hover bike. He looked at his surrounding, and imagined every possible way he could take down his enemy. He took note of the Hoverbike, his surroundings, a sharp metal rod sunken into the ground. He closed his eyes and played out the scenario in his head. His eyes opened with glee as he readied his attack. He climbed atop the hover bike and started the engine. This startled Thoradux. Stealth quickly spun the wheels of the bike towards the two. He knew he would never successfully slam it into his enemy and the collision would affect Magnum anyway, so right before the moment of impact, Stealth swerved the bike to the left and lept from it. He yanked the brutes head under his arm midair and slammed him to the ground. Stealth then gracefully ran towards the nearby metal rod and yanked it from the muck and sand, throwing dust into the air. He held it like a great spear and began running at Thoradux. The villain had just made it to his feet when Stealth forcefully shoved the rod into the villains shoulder blade. He yelped and propelled his mace upwards, cracking it on Stealths jaw. The hero was thrown upwards half almost two feet before crashing down to the ground. "And it was going just as planned as well" he thought. He was took weak to make his way back off the surface. He had to rely on Magnum to act now.

Magnum desperately got to his feet, unloading his pistol on Thoradux. He growled in frustration as the majority of the bullets failed to effect the brute, largely because of his heavy and thick armor. Thoradux threw his mace into Magnum, hitting him in the stomach and bringing the Hero to his knees. The gang leader moved back to Stealth and picked him up by his neck, before beating his face into the ground.

Ivy finished packing up, reading her rifle as she kept a optic fixed on the door.

"Time to get some exercise" she muttered as a thug came in view. She slammed the trigger, dropping the gangster with a brutal thud.

Scaler had at this point lodged several barrels underneath the collapsing building structure; this was no small feat, considering he only had his clunky plasma cannon to work with; fortunately, with Collideiscope's aid in the lifting, they had managed to lessen the burden on StingBlade's back.
"Alright," Scaler muttered, "I'd lift you out myself kid, but in case you haven't noticed, my only arm is a gun." The silver hero turned away from the rubble and spoke into his Data-pad. "Any one who's free, I need someone to pull StingBlade out of this rubble."

Stealth groaned on the floor. The white paint on the right side of his helmet was little more than speckles after facing that kind of pounding. He remained on the floor, feigning an unconscious state. If he wanted to win this battle he would need to fight dirty. Thoradux approached Stealth and squated down over him. The next words he was about to say never reached his lips as Stealth slammed his leg up into Thoradux's groin. The villain gasped and fell to his knees. Stealth swiftly got to his feet and limped away. He looked to Magnum and screamed "Run!" There was no way the two of them were beating this guy, especially now that Stealth had just ticked him off more.

Firearm heard Stealth's remark, argued internally with himself, decided that Stealth's idea was best, shot a thug anyways, then proceeded to kill a biker, steal his hover bike, and dash towards the door where his fellow heroes were holding out.

He took a few detours and killed one or two more criminals along the way.

Scaler waited temporarily, becoming increasingly more frustrated with the fact that no one had come to help him with the trapped StingBlade. Even Collideiscope had wandered off to take out a few more of the bikers. Scaler muttered an exasperated curse as he saw the young hero's hand poke out from the rubble. Scaler knelt down and presented the side of his plasma cannon so that StingBlade could grab it.

"Alright kid, grab my arm- I'll pull you out." Scaler ordered, somewhat apathetically.

Stealth hobbled away the opposite direction of Magnum. He was trying to provide a distraction. He limped and tripped over a small mound of rubble. He certainly wasn't getting any younger. Perhaps in his "Lone Wolf" days he would have been able to walk off an attack like that, but not now. He rose from the ground and peeked over his shoulder. There, he saw something he would not soon forget. Thoradux ignored the fleeing Magnum and began marching towards Stealth. His upturned chin gave him a much more menacing stance and his eyes burned with a fury, and a hatred. He took the attack Stealth made badly, and personally. The old hero began quickening his pace, but it was to no avail. Thoradux was rapidly approaching "You want to play dirty, okay, I can do that." Thoradux lifted his heavily armoured leg and kicked the hero in the ankle. Stealth quickly collapsed and tried to drag himself away. Thoradux stomped on the heroes ankle once again, grinding it into the ground. The snaps and cracks it made would make any bot wince, and it certainly didn't help Stealth's writhing pain. Thoradux lifted his foot off of the poor heroes ankle. It was far more than broken. Some would be surprised it is still attatched. Thoradux mockingly sat down beside the hero. He turned and grinned, saying "You know what? I'll give you a chance, go run off to your pals." Stealth knew there was no way he was going to be able to walk, but he would try. He slowly pushed himself off of the musty ground. He was covered in muck and was disgraced. He slowly rose to his feet, but quickly collapsed back down to the earth and screamed. Looking at his ankle wrong would give the hero a significant amount of seething pain, so walking was out of the question. Thoradux, sitting on the ground, rose again and continued berating the hero. He grabbed Stealth by the shoulders and lifted him up to his feet. Stealth lent heavily to his dominant leg, but the pain was still unbearable. Thoradux looked at him and once again gave his familiar smile. He then gifted the hero with a mighty fist to his rib, echoing a large crack across the entire battlefield. Stealth fell to his knees, and looked back up to his hulking oppressor. With a dark stare, Thoradux's notable grinding of teeth was met with a large kick to the face. Stealth lay back on the ground. Honestly, he had no idea how he was still alive, never mind being conscious. Perhaps due to the expend-ability of his type of hero, he was given a large pain tolerance, so they could endure any amount of torture they wanted. But this was more than torture. His hazed vision slowly made out the shape of the animal. He had changed, he was no longer mocking. He once more knelt beside Stealth. He placed his heavily plated hands onto the heroes broken ribs. He rubbed it, almost soothingly. The villain then, with great force shoved his fists down onto Stealth's chest, breaking as many ribs as he could. The pain should have been horrendous, and it was, but at this point, Stealth was numbed. Once Thoradux was done playing with the hero, he returned to his feet. He looked around to the destruction around him, the disarray that his team had caused. He licked his lip and gave a toothy grin. He lept down to the ground, like a beast attacking its prey, and clutched Stealth's thighs. He dragged him for a good 3 meters and then tossed him like a Frisbee over the landscape and towards the headquarters. The victim had met his target as Stealth crashed through the locked and chained door, throwing screws and wood everywhere, alarming all the heroes who had been trying to save StingBlade. He slid across the floor, knocking over tables, chairs and computers. He finally met his stop on the wall opposite the door. He slid down, oil trailing along behind him, as he collapsed onto the floor. The light from the newly produced hole from the entrance kept Stealth awake for that little bit longer. He held his hand out. For help or to warn against the brute, he did not know. His hand shook with pain, and oil trickled from his metallic fingers. It was at this point that his already foggy visions finally faded, and his hand tumbled to the ground.

It was at this point that his already foggy visions finally faded, and his hand tumbled to the ground.

"No! Stealth!" Sharp said running to his fallen brother. If he could, he'd be shedding tears. "That MONSTER!"

"No! Stealth!" Sharp said running to his fallen brother. If he could, he'd be shedding tears. "That MONSTER!"

Thoradux growled like some kind of bear, before charging after Sharp, slamming his hammer into the hero's chest, grabbing him by the leg as he was sent into the air. He wildly beat his frame into the dirt with a maniacal laugh.

Ivy stood off from behind, taking careful aim at the brute as she rested her finger on the trigger. She kicked a rock at the brutish being, hoping to get his attention.

"HEY SCRAPHEAD!" She yelled as Thoradux spun around, she slammed the trigger as a hole appeared in his forehead.

"What....NO!" He bellowed as the light left his optics, Sharp dropped from his hand as Thoradux hit the ground with a sickening thud, oil pouring from the wound. Ivy shook her head, rushing to Stealth as she began unpacking her medical kit.

"I can't fix you right now, but I can save you" she whispered as she attached various stabilization devices to her teammate.

StingBlade desperately fought against the rubble, wincing as the weight fell on his thin legs. He reached for Scaler's cannon in pain, his small frame emerging from the destroyed building.

Just as his hands managed to clasp around Scaler's bulky appendage, StingBlade was pulled free from the rubble with one forceful heave from Magnum's lieutenant. Scaler knelt to the ground and examined the young hero's raggedy armour and stretched limbs.
"Can you walk?" Scaler asked him, trying as hard as he could to sound warm and reassuring.

StingBlade reached back into the rubble, pulling out his dirtied and dented rifle. He made his way back to Scaler, holding his prized possession in his hands.

"Think it will still shoot?"

Magnum sighed, shaking Sharp again to no avail. He slung his teammate over his shoulder and ran inside the broken down base, throwing him down next to Ivy.

"When you get Stealth taken care of, make sure Sharp is okay" He ordered, before slamming another magazine into his rifle. He charged back out the door, mowing down thugs as he went. A hoverbike raced towards him at breakneck speed, the rider firing wildly. Magnum scoffed, keeping still before slamming his foot onto the front of the vehicle, flipping it over his head and crashing to the ground, killing the rider.

Scaler opened his mouth to answer the young hero, but before he could carry through he caught one of the thugs, in the corner of his eye, running towards them. Without turning his head, Scaler lifted his cannon and quite literally blasted the villain's legs out from under him. The rider cried out and fell to the floor, his legs little more than twisted scrap metal.
"Well, there's only one way to find out, isn't there?" Scaler gestured to the fallen brute.

After making sure that StingBlade would be able to manage by himself, Scaler took off into the air and began to tear through the ranks of the attackers, unleashing his orange fury upon them.

Truxor eyed the fighting warriors all around him; it became quickly apparent, even to one as dim as him, that they were going nowhere with this little pantomime. Evaluating all his options, the villain concluded that it was not worth dying for the sake of taking out one or two heroes in an otherwise pointless raid.

Deciding this, the bulky brute headed for the nearest hover-bike and clambered onto it. He looked up to the sky to see Scaler swishing about. He growled, and aimed his meteor blaster for good measure. A well placed hit sent Scaler plummeting out of the sky, black smoke billowing from his back, and into a crowd of bikers.

A satisfied smile spread across Truxor's raggedy face, and the villain drove off, disappearing from sight in a matter of seconds.

Magnum drifted the bike, slamming into the thugs, he rose his arm to protect his face as oil, blood and body parts flew past. He reached for his rifle, before unloading it on the remaining bikers. He felt a mace hit him in the torso as he was thrown off the bike, hitting the dirt and gravel with a thud.

"Uuuhhhggghhh.....Holy scrap..." He groaned as a thug leaped at him, slamming a long sharpened blade to the ground, barely missing his face. He lashed out with his foot, brutally kicking them in the stomach as he shot to his feet. He rammed his elbow into their throat, before unsheathing his energy machete and digging it into their spine. He flung the corpse away, before charging another group.

Ryujin, far back on a hill, zoomed his scope on a thug behind Magnum. He set it on his head saying, "Looky here, trash can. You're all done." He pulled he trigger and his signature shot pierced the thug's skull as a large cloud of blood sprayed across the battlefield. Then, Ryujin pulled out his saber, a crackling red plasma blade shrieking from the handle as he then grapple hooked towards the fray. He swung right into another criminal, penetrating his chest and swinging the blade to the side, cutting his stomach open. He unholstered his shotgun and blasted through surrounding enemies, slashing and firing in a hurricane of death. His moves were smooth and elegant like a dance, yet bloodthirsty and ruthless in the eyes of those met by his unforgiving fury. The thugs dropped one by one, yet one sneaked up on Ryujin and held him in a headlock and with a blade to his throat. "I'm gonna make your smooth head a parts bin where I keep your nuts and bolts for chewing on," the thug exclaimed as he started laughing maniacally.

Scaler was roused as he found his body being dragged towards the base by Firearm and Collideiscope. He groggily stood to his feet; "I'll be alright boys, you can go back." he assured them. As the other two ran off, Scaler knelt to the ground and propelled himself into the air, his wings shooting back up into their upright position. Scaler faltered somewhat, as his wings were still recovering from the blast. He swore under a hissing breath and landed himself back on the ground.

The blackness Stealth had been surrounded by had finally been broken. Muffled discussion became clear as the old hero weakly winked his eyes open. He lay atop a metal table, I suppose a bed was asking too much of the fighters. It did become quite a mess. Everything hurt. No one was around him, but he could hear the cluttering and clattering of preparation echoing throughout the base. Magnum was issuing orders as usual. It seemed as though the heroes were packing up. It seemed to have been at least a few hours since he was knocked unconscious. Day was fading into night as he thought. He tried to bend over to see his ankle, but went too fast. His brittle ribs punched the hero. He groaned and lay back down. He slowly looked down his worn body to his mangle ankle. It was a mishmash of misshapen and jagged metal and tubing, all covered in a thick cast. It was depressing to look at, but at least it didn't hurt as much anymore. As he inspected the injury, he noticed Ivy burst through an enterance way with a bundle of supplies in her arms. She jumped as she spotted Stealth. "How long have I been out?"

Ivy growled, once again considering murdering her own teammate. She raised her hand, forming a rude gesture before going back to treating Stealth.

Magnum nodded, stroking his chin.

"We should try to make a cart, I just want to get out of here as fast as we possibly can..this could take all night"

Scaler walked clunkily towards Magnum and Firearm: "Obviously my lack of hands is going to limit my ability to carry things," he said dryly, "but if you wanna strap some of the heavier stuff to my back, I'll be able to fly it to our next location. I've just tested my wings: they've regained their functionality."

"Flight would certainly be an option, but we need to get into the inner city without alerting every gangleader and their grandmother..." Magnum replied. "And we need to conserve fuel" He added. "StingBlade, get me the tires outside, we have a cart to make"

"It is a gamble, sure..we could meet other Hero teams. but it is also ran by criminal rings...we are banking on the former"

"Well, as dumb of an idea as I think it is, I'm not in the mood to argue. If we are going anywhere, I need a cane or something, because my ankle is dead." He thought for a moment, he could lean on Bec as a crutch. He looked around for her and came to the revelation that he had dropped her earlier in the battle. He punched the table and shouted a expletive. He turned to Scaler. "You couldn't fly over to the building with no roof just northwards, I think I left Bec there."

Scaler stared blankly at his companion momentarily, before remembering that Stealth had actually given his pistol a name. Scaler cast his eyes out towards the bleak sky, leering quietly at the window.
"I don't know Callum, there are a lot of roofless buildings northwards from here, especially after this ruckus- but I'll see if I can find it. I can't promise one of the thugs didn't snatch it up though."
Scaler made his way out of the door and took off, his tattered wings carrying him towards the dark clouds.

Ivy blankly stared at her teammates, her unseen optics darting from Sharp to Collidescope. She caught herself reaching for her rifle, quickly correcting her 'mistake' and grabbing a wrench, before throwing it at Sharp. She managed to control herself, causing the wrench to hit the ground nearby her fellow Hero.

"Sorry, I..slipped" She mumbled, picking up the wrench and resisting the urge to beat in a few skulls with it.

Stealth, ignoring the wrench that had gone flying, grabbed the metal pole tightly in his cold hands. He lowered himself off of the table and lightly set his foot on the ground. A sharp pain shot up his body and he let out a slight grunt. He then stood, slumped over in a weakened state. He then snapped himself back to his surroundings, and realized what Ivy had just done. He glared at the hero. He didn't have the strength to tell her off, so simply sighed and shook his weary head. He began limping his way towards the hole that was only recently a door. He peered out, it was getting darker. If the heroes were to go, they would have to hurry up.

"Magnum?" She asked.

"Yes?"

"How long till that cart's done?"

"Soon"

"How soon? I don't feel like waiting till morning"

"A few minutes, calm your circuits" Magnum replied, going back to welding the cart together.

"I found your gun," Scaler told his partner in metallic tones, "it looks a little worse for ware, but I imagine it still works; I'd have tested it but, y'know- my only arm is a gun."

Stealth's eyes widened at the sight of his compatriot holding out the rifle, her hanging chain oscillating from the heroes arm. Stealth clumsily took hold of her and cradled Bec in his arms like a baby. He saw a number of scratches and dents along her metallic body. Anger filled his heart as he deeply inhaled. This feeling was then overwhelmed by the pain of Stealth's ribs. He held the gun in front of him, his arms outstretched "I'm not leaving you again." As he said this, he heard Magnum's exclamation. He slung his friend over his shoulder and began hobbling towards the others on his pipe.
