Location: Nightmare Woods

*Fotoh readies himself to make a dramatic challenge, but before he can make a move, Qiav steps forward.*
Qiav: "I am Qiav. Fight me."

*Ramza sniffs the air before thinking*
Ramza: A savory fruit you are, but you are not yet ripe. There is still might for you to achieve, and so I will wait until you are truly ready before engaging you in honorable combat.
*Turns to face Fotoh*
Ramza: As for you, elderly one, you are sliding from your peak, and so I shall challenge you.
*retrieves his sword from the Plantera's carcass and holds it aloft towards Fotoh*
Ramza, Now, elderly one, raise your weapon and honor thy fathers!

Fotoh: *lowering himself from Apis' back.* "Ah, you believe you will gain an advantage from facing a foe past his prime. I do question your bravery, but Fotoh is not one to turn his back from an opponent. I think you will find I am not as slow and weak as you think I am, boy- now, let us do battle; I fear you not!"

Daradun (to himself): "Basic healing 101, as my grandmother said: two idiots need a lot of potions..."

Fotoh: For valour; for victory! *Fotoh swings his bulky lance to meet with Ramza's broadsword, creating a loud, earthshattering clang. A fierce battle proceeds, with Ramza darting in circles around Fotoh, dealing swift nips at his foe. Fotoh, in contrast, moves slowly and deals infrequent but powerful blows, which knock Ramza back but do not seriously injure him. A victor is hard to determine at this point to those present.*

Erikku arrives at the fight, pool brush strapped to his back, tired and hungry from his time on the road. "Ugh, people fighting again... You just can't escape it nowadays..." He mutters to himself as he looks for something to eat, holding some coins in his hand.

*Ramza leaps back, eyes narrowed at the old warrior*
Ramza: You are most certainly strong, elderly one. Perhaps even as strong as the ancient knights of buried lore. No matter. You shall learn why they call me Ramza, Heretic Knight!

Fotoh: Oh dear! *Covers himself. Ramza lands in a crackle, sending crimson smoke seething from all sides. The mist fades, and Ramza is kneeling on the ground, his sword embedded into the grass. Fotoh sits slightly before his opponent, having fallen onto his rear. He stares, bewildered at the warrior before him.* "Well, that is a first!"

*Suddenly Varak feel's a slight stinging feeling in his back ,as he turns back to investigate he discovers that the sensation he was experiencing was a sharp blade poking at his side's. Varak then gazed upward and soon found out that standing behind him was a large white and blue figure, of course with the sun at the right angle it was hard for Varak to make anything else out.

Vultria:Well Erikku, seeing that your the only one that is willing to speak to us I had a few questions regarding you and your company. As I was traveling through the forest here gathering resources I felt a great rumbling, and upon investigation it turns out it was YOUR group fighting with a mass of Comers. After watching your grand battle I had to follow you to figure out what exactly it is your doing here in this region and what it could be that disturbed the Comers so much. Vultria:well it is very simple! For the many years I've lived in these woods, I've never experienced such a huge disturbance from the comers, or from any of the other creatures that live here up till you all arrived. In a way it is kind of my duty to keep and watch over these beautiful woods, and whenever a huge battle breaks out *hinting at Erikku* naturally I become concerned and wish to know what happened that caused this fight to break out. I hope you can understand I'm just trying to understand everything that's going on and keep peace and harmony throughout these lands, that's all.

Krickarr tiredly trudged forward, each step becoming harder to make. He hadn't stopped moving from since he came from Van'shu, and most importantly, hadn't slept. He didn't even know how long it had been. Was it hours? Days? It mattered not. He did manage to hitch a ride with an Agori in Ha'Shuan, although his prices were very steep. Krickarr rubbed his weary eyes. He needed sleep, but he was already in the forrest now. Despite the low temperature, the subtle heat of the forest was still scolding to Krickarr's body. All he had ever known was cold. He didn't know if it was refreshing or painful.

The agori was starving. He sighed. He did not have the energy to hunt for anything. He shook his head awake for a moment when he remembered the meat he had packed away from earlier. This would do great. Krickarr almost methodically collected a bundle of sticks and systematically placed them into an arched pyramid like he had done so many times before. He fetched a rock and a piece of flint he always kept handy and began smacking the two objects together. After a number of unsuccessful swipes, the rocks made a spark, igniting the triangular arrangement of nature.

Krickarr stared into the flames. He recollected on his times with those in Van'shu. He didn't think the brief adventure would have such an effect on him. He was wondering what they were all doing now. He impaled the soft, pink flesh on a sharp arrow. He held it over the dancing red and yellow, watching the youthful pink of the meat transform into a appetizing brown. He had killed so many Comers, and it all had no pay off. Closest he got was when he and the others had defeated the towering Helgran. He also thought of the other villain they had come up against. The traitorous Daradun. He didn't even know why he let him go after the battle at the volcano. He also wondered what he was doing. Probably plotting some nefarious scheme. He also thought o..f.....

Krickarr's eyes opened. He found himself collapsed in an awkward position on the muddy grass. He must have fallen asleep. The amount of travelling he had done must have taken a toll on him. He blinked his eyes a few more times to wake himself up. He pushed himself off of the floor and looked up to the sky. It was still dark, but the faint whisper of dawn made itself known. Had he only been asleep for a few hours...or for a full day? The fire had been extinguished and the charred black remains of his previously satisfying brown meat crackled with the faintest breath, with charred embers raining from it occasionally, like snow. The gargling roar from Krickarr's abdomen echoed throughout the spacious land, the sound reverberation off of the thick stumps surrounding him. He sat up and looked at his surroundings. He had to get to the main vill-
Krickarr noticed a movement. His head turned to it quickly. All of his senses were heightened, almost as if he had never slept. He squinted to a nearby bush. He hunched over and his eyes tightened further. His eyes widened. Withing the tangled green, sat a hooded figure, wearing many runes and light armour. Krickarr recognized this outfit and quickly rolled to his sword. The bush shook with great intensity as the figure barrelled away in a similar way back within the forest. Krickarr sprinted after the stalker, crashing through the bush and passing more trees and greenery. He could see the figure jump between the lines of trees. The movements were, once again, very similar to Krickarr's. An oppening appeared within the forest. The white agori stopped himself and reached around his back for his bow. Taking great precision, he pulled the string back. Readying himself, he closed his eyes and inhaled. He was becoming the arrow. Strangly, the mysterious figure turned to Krickarr and stood, almost challenging him. Krickarr grit his teeth in distaste. He let out an angry grunt as he let go of his arrow. As the pointed blue spear flew through the air, the opposite agori's hand began to glow in a purple rune with a similarly purple haze trailing along with it. He held his closed fist to his chest and closed his eyes. He instantly vanished into a black smoke and the arrow went right through, making a agonizing twang and burying itself into the muck behind the smoke.

Krickarr sighed as he pulled the stick from the ground. He thought he could hide, and easily escape, but he knew they were watching him. He continually shook his head as he collected his gear and looked ahead. The sun was making itself known throughout the forest. Rays of light cracked through branches and leaves, creating an aura of safety. Krickarr put one foot out when black smoke appear around him, he jumped back and held his chest. The hooded figure reappeared, blocking out the sun from Krickarr's vision. Krickarr opened his mouth when the infiltrator cracked a hand over his head, collapsing the agori immediately.

Krickarr rubbed his weary eyes. He needed sleep, but he was already in the forrest now. Despite the low temperature, the subtle heat of the forrest was still scolding to Krickarr's body. All he had ever known was cold. He didn't know if it was refreshing or painful.

The agori was starving. He sighed. He did not have the energy to hunt for anything. He shook his head awake for a moment when he remembered the meat he had packed away from earlier. This would do great. Stealth almost methodically collected a bundle of sticks and systematically placed them into an arched pyramid like he had done so many times before.

Stealth recognized this outfit and quickly rolled to his sword. The bush shook with great intensity as the figure barrelled away in a similar way back within the forest. Stealth sprinted after the stalker, crashing through the bush and passing more trees and greenery.

(OOC: who is this Stealth?)

(OOC: Heh, I knew I made that mistake, prehaps I should have proof read that message. This is the problem with playing two RPGs at the same time. Stealth is my character in RaptorTalon's HF RPG. He's quite similar to Krickarr anyway, so no wonder I got them mixed up. There's also the fact that I typed it up at half 2 in the morning, which can't be great. I'm fixing it now, but just incase I make this mistake in future, know that Stealth is NOT in this RPG. When I mentioned Stealth I was supposed to be talking about Krickarr, so whoops :P)

Emekk gasps for breath, lungs burning, feet pounding. Behind him, a massive Ashnarka gallops ever closer.

Ha’Shuan: “Watch your feet!”

Emekk barely manages to jump in time to clear a protruding root, and glares at the old Agori as he keeps running. Ha’Shuan is sitting in the branches of a nearby tree, safe for the moment from the ferocious predator.

Emekk: “I don’t suppose the ancient, immortal protector of the Green Stone can spare the time to DO SOMETHING?”

Ha’Shuan: “Oh, I’m ancient, but I’m not immortal. I’ll die one day, probably sooner rather than later. And, sad do say, I can no longer protect the Green Stone. Ferbregr has seen to that. This...” *he holds up his cane* “...is the last vestige of my transformed ancestor.”

Emekk runs into a tree.

Emekk: “Ouch.”

Ha’Shuan: “Time grows short. I cannot continue on my own, but here, in the Nightmare Wood, is the resting place of an old friend. While Terengua was out fishing on faraway islands, Van’shu was hiding from life in his mountain passes, and Helgran was fighting off scourges and villains, this Agori was busy delving into the secrets of the universe.”

Emekk: “Oof. Ha’Shuan, please?”

Ha’Shuan: “Oh, very well.”

The ancient holds out his cane, and a beam of jade light strikes the Ashnarka. It falls to the ground, unmoving.

Emekk: “Whoa. Is it-”

Ha’Shuan: “It is merely asleep. The power of the Sages is not to be used for destruction, even in self-defense.”

He marches past Emekk, and the ex-private follows behind, a bit sullen.

Suddenly he stops.

Ha'Shuan: "Kakhan is near. Come, we must move more quickly."

A large gash trickled blood down the face of Krickarr. The bowman awoke from his slumber. He lay, bare of any weapons, on the cold stone ground. It was dark, save for a few torches that illuminated the freezing cavern. He seemed to have been in some sort of cave. Every jagged edge of rock reflected the orange flame. Krickarr was jolted into awareness when two of the hooded men began dragging the defeated soul, his feet trailing behind him. He could try to fight back, but what was the point. Krickarr slapped one of the mysterious fellow's hand off of his arm.

"I can walk on my own!" He angrily growled.

Krickarr rose to his feet. The two guards were adorned with long spears, with purple gemstones running along it's edge. One led Krickarr whilst the other held their sharpened weapon at Krickarr's back. He sighed. The trio continued throughout the hallway.

"Please, just let me go. I can't come back here!"

The shadows were silent. Krickarr found it slightly humorous that for once, *he* was the most talkative person in a room, however, the feeling of grief that was triggered by his begging was much more powerful. More torches surrounded a long banner. The same rune that appeared on one of his attackers arms was painted across it. Krickarr turned his nose up at the sigil. He recognised it, which disgusted him.

The group turned around a corner and were faced with a bright light at the end off a tunnel. The leading guard turned to Krickarr and spoke in a long forgotten tongue, although Krickarr understood the words. He had said "We are almost there." Krickarr exhaled in disappointment and spat on the ground. There was no way to get out now. His walk became slowed as the agori glumly looked to the ground, head bowed.

They reached the end of the tunnel, and the dark world exploded into colour. A great grove sat here, with hundreds of agori wearing the same uniform conversed. Some were training whilst others were chopping fish and meat, selling it to other grey, bland soldiers. They all looked the same. Krickarr stood in contrast with his surrounding black and purple peers. He stopped and looked around for a moment, to take in his current surrounding, he had not been here for years. Although the soldier at his back shoved him forward. There was obviously a tight schedule to be followed.

A tiled path led Krickarr into a beautiful garden. The white agori marveled at the sublime view, but he continued forward. The botanic wonderland led further into a large alcove. The alcove was circular, with a number of generals sitting, higher up from the ground, looking down to the center of the circle, where one lone agori stood, shaking. The circumference of the circle was filled with audience members. It was barbaric, almost like an arena, only it was a trial. In the middle of the generals sat one in a large throne. Krickarr swallowed deeply at this sight. His usually cool breath increased in pace and gained a shakiness to it. This could not be happening. He wouldn't allow it. But he was surrounded. He had no where to go. The two guards and Krickarr entered the alcove and made a space within the audience. The two guards stood on each side of Krickarr. His arrival caused some murmurs to go throughout the crowd, though they were too distant to hear. Krickarr recognized this set up, it was the Kahkanish version of a trial. The twelve figures who tower over the prosecuted act as judge, jury...and executioner. The man in the middle of the arena was obviously guilty. He had gone completely pale and was shaking with every word. He was being tried for murder. Krickarr hated the agori's guts with the more the slightly rounded criminal tried to cover up his abominable act. The jury discussed among itself and tried to piece together the evidence. This went on for a few minutes until they approached the figure perched upon the throne. The unknown characters nodded and stood. Although they were not unknown to Krickarr. Before making their speech, the leader noticed Krickarr in the crowd and smirked. They turned back around and opened their wrinkled mouth. What escaped was an aged feminine voice. "With all of our testaments and evidence, we have come to a conclusion." Her raspy dialogue paused momentarily as she slowly walked down the steps from the throne into the arena. The prosecuted began to shiver with fear. The woman faced the agori. Krickarr's heart had stopped. This had to be a nightmare. He was still asleep, peacefully in the mountains of Van'shu, or...or he was with the others inspecting the boom in the main village, or he was- Somewhere other than here! He watched on with fear as the woman grinned widely at the criminal. "And we have found you guilty." The criminal stepped back in shock. He held his chest as his mind filled with emotion. He began to cry as Krickarr held his own arms in fear. The leader looked down at the fellow, and simply stated "What do you have to say for yourself?" The man opened his mouth. "I-I-don't k-" His sentence was cut off with a dagger coming from behind the woman's back and impaling the man in the chest. Blood flashed onto the woman's face as her grin extended. She yanked the dagger from the poor man's chest as his fingers shakily covered the wound. He looked up in horror back to the woman, who then stabbed him once more, taking him to the ground. She stabbed the man with a downwards thrust, and again, and again. Each stab increased the cheers from the crowd. While the stabbing increased, Krickarr fell to his knees. He felt physically sick. He had to escape. The two guards grabbed him by both arms and hoisted him up. They dragged him though the crowd and down to where the brutalization was taking place. Krickarr yelped like a hurt animal. He screamed "No! Please, don't! I can't! I can't!" They dragged him to the woman who was still attacking the body, with the audience continuing to cheer. There, they threw him to the floor, where he lay, hunched over. He began to weep. The woman took one final stab, that sent the crowd into a frenzy of screams and cheers. She rose and showed the knife to the crowd. Who continued to cheer. She then wiped the bloodied long dagger on her leg and put it back in its holster on her back. She turned to the babbling mess on the floor that faced her. The guards kicked Krickarr and once again screamed a phrase in the strange language. They said "Greet her!" The crowd immediately went silent and watched the encounter. Krickarr continued to weep, to which the guards gave him another kick and repeated the phrase, only with more intensity. Krickarr shakily sniffled and his head rose. With a desolate breath he said;

"L-L...Lady Krakhan."

She smiled once more. She knelt down to the disheveled warrior. She grunted and brought her blood covered face directly in front of Krickarr. Krickarr heart went a mile a minute as she opened her mouth.

"You can still call me mother you know."

Krickarr bowed his head once more and sighed, sniffling as he did. Kahkan stared down at the bumbling mess. She rose to her feet and turned back to her congregation and looked around. "I think we are done here. Back to your positions." The assembly dispersed almost instantly, exiting the auditorium in droves. In a moment, only the two guards were onlookers to the family reunion. Krickarr had somewhat composed himself. He now sat on the ground, his eyes swollen red and a hand on his forehead, hiding his eyes from his mother.

"You don't understand how good it is to see you again, son."

She outstretched her aged hand, rough and dirtied from the years, to the collapsed Krickarr. The Bowman swatted it away.

"Don't touch me!" The agori growled, his mouth stretched into a disgusted snarl.

Lady Kahkan, slightly hurt by her kin's anger, awkwardly scratched her forehead.

"Look, I understand if you need some time, but we need to talk. Meet me in my private quarters once you've composed yourself."

She bit her lip

"Just...Krickarr, know that I still love you as a son."

Krickarr only glared back at the woman. With this, Lady Kahkan nodded to her son and quickly spun around, exiting the scene. As she was about to leave, she turned back to the two guards.

"You are both relieved of your current task. Thank you for bringing me my son."

The two guards bowed respectfully to their elder, and followed Kahkan closely behind.
Soon, Krickarr was the only one left in the stadium, gravelly sand scraping his palms from the amount of time he had sat there. He looked into the air, with only his thoughts to keep him company. He'd hoped to never again have to lay eyes on his ancestral home. He had been raised in the village of Kahkan, the title coming from his own namesake. His mother had hoped for him to take her place as leader of Kahkan, to be awarded the name of Lord Kahkan, but that's not how things happened. He shook the thoughts from his head. As he finally found his way back to his feet. He placed a satisfying hand to the back of his neck. There was no point of trying to escape, Lady Kahkan would never allow that. He guessed he'd have to try and fit in until he could find some way out, because he was not staying here with *her*.

Lady Kahkan lay lazily across a large chair. She sat at a great dining table, awaiting the arrival of her son. She could be doing something a lot more useful right now, but she had to stay here. Krickarr would come soon enough.

Half an hour passed with no sign of the white Bowman. Kahkan had filed a small notch in her chair into a widened hole in boredom. It worried her little, she already had plenty of chairs. She looked up at the ceiling. She stared at the great tapestry that graced the roof. It displayed the founding of Botana, with her ancestors and the other village elder's ancestors. She remembered the days when she had ventured with the other elders. She also remembered her husband. He was one of Lady Kahkan’s right hand men. A master with a bow and arrow, he was also a very skilled tactician, which made him an irreplaceable asset to her and her council. Kahkan turned her hand wrist side up. A purple gem implanted into her cold arm. The top half of the Jem peaked out of the skin. She rubbed her hand against the crystal. It was gifted to her by Van'shu, one of her old allies. Even with the support of her spies, she didn't even know where the old fool had gone. Despite the fact they were engineered by Van'shu, the village of Kahkan was the only tribe to have unlocked their true potential. Of course any Agori could concentrate hard enough and teleport with it, but Kahkan had taught her followers how to use the effectively and quickly. Most importantly, she had found a way to weaponise it and use it as a tool against her enemies.

Kahkan's rambling thoughts were thrown out of her mind as she heard the heavy set iron doors slowly grind open. She sat up attentively as her son angrily marched in.

"Take a seat, son." She mentioned casually.

Krickarr stared back coldly and in attempted spite, he simply lay his forearms on the back of the wooden seat with an unattractive squeak. Lady Kahkan sighed and looked up to her boy. It was hard to recognise his hulking form now. What she remembered was a spindly adolescent, not this muscular warrior. She felt pride in that, but also with a sprinkle of upset.

"I need you to help me." Kahkan sighed.

Krickarr spat back an explicit insult.

"Look, I just need you to lis-"

"No! I was done with this place! I told you I didn't want to stay here! I told you that you were a monster but you didn't listen! So you kidnapped me and took me back to this fortress of nothing. Of course you only care about me once you need my help."

Kahkan looked down at her feet, she knew he was right. When the lad was young, all Kahkan could think about was the good of the village and the future. Which didn't leave a lot of time to be a mother. She had tried, to be loving, to be...something to her son...but compassion showed weakness, and she was not weak. The two were on good terms for most of Krickarr's childhood, but after he became training to become Lord Kahkan, that's where the problems began. Arguments every day, constant fighting and bickering. The problem with Krickarr was that he cared too much. He was too merciful. Kahkan had to stop this. She remembered what she did, she was transported back to that time.

It had all started with a simple theft. One of the villagers had been mugged by another from Ha'shuan village. The trial was to be held in Van'shu. Kahkan wouldn't allow an outsider to terrorize one of her own villagers like this, so she locked him away until she figured out a just punishment. However, with having to run a whole village, the memory of this criminal escaped the leader, leading the mugger to rot away in the dark cellar with no food. He was on his way to a ball with death when suddenly, a smaller agori appeared within the light of the doorway. It was Krickarr. He had grown an attachment to the criminal, and was the only company the shady fellow had. After a while, Krickarr devised a plan. Whilst his mother was pre-occupied, Krickarr quickly pinched the keys to the cells. An escape took place, in which Krickarr led the man throughout the village and helped him to escape. The two exchanged one last glance and that was that. Krickarr felt proud of himself. As he spun around to return back to his quarters, he bumped into a very beefy fellow, with a longbow slung over his shoulder. The timid soul looked up to the man. It was his father, who stared down at his son with a fury the likes of which he had not seen in a long time. After a long and tedious argument between the parents and their son, Krickarr reached a stalemate and stormed off to bed. Kahkan couldn’t believe it. How could she have raised a son who felt such compassion for these criminals. They were less than them. He had to learn a lesson. After a number of days, Krickarr received a sudden awakening. It was pitch black when one of the guards fetched the boy. He was extremely confused as he and the guard raced through the forest in the middle of the dark night. The blackness of the evening was finally broken as he saw a fiery orange break through the horizon. At first, he simply passed this off as the sunrise. But a feeling of horror descended upon Krickarr as he reached the peak of a hill and saw the source of the orange. A village, erupting into flames. The purple dashes of his allies disappearing and re-appearing, flying through and killing and destroying everything in sight. Krickarr stumbled and fell towards the settlement. He walked through. Black smoke filled the agori’s lungs as he walked through the inferno. All around him was smouldering corpses. He turned and saw one of the soldiers impale a villager with a broad sword. Krickarr winced and turned away. He coughed as he turned around a bend. Near the village centre he saw a cloaked figure, with his father’s longbow strung over it’s shoulder, wailing away at one of the villagers. As Krickarr approached the conflict, he noticed it was his mother…And the thief. Krickarr ran towards the two and pulled his mother away. She was relatively unharmed, but the thief was brutalised. He lent up as he looked at Krickarr and Kahkan. Kahkan wiped her sooty face, clearing away tears. She took her dagger and handed it to Krickarr.

“Now Krickarr...Kill him, or we will continue destroying what’s left of this village.”

Krickarr looked up to his mother in bewilderment.

“W-What!?” He solemnly asked.

“Kill him, or all of these deaths around you is on your hands!” She scornfully scowled.

Krickarr looked down to the sharpened blade in his hands. The power he held in his hands was too powerful for the youth. He peered over to his friend, who lay on the floor. The theif simply shook his head and pleaded. The thief was one of the only friends Krickarr had had up to this point in his life. He was the only one who cared for him outside of his own father. He looked down at the floor and began to cry. The sadness then quickly shifted into anger. It was his mother who had killed these people. All of these innocents died by her hand. He wouldn’t let it continue. The boy swung his arm over to his mother. It caught the end of her teleportation crystal, leaving a crack. Krickarr swiped again, to which Kahkan jumped back. Krickarr made a final swing, but his hand was caught by his mother. She disarmed him off her knife and punched her son in the ribs, winding him. She calmly walked towards the thief, almost ignoring the sudden treason her son tried to commence. Krickarr lay on the ground, still dazed from the punch.

“Eye’s up here, Krickarr.” Kahkan ordered. “Let me show you, what compassion brings you, and what being ‘nice’ really means.”

Kahkan turned to her side and found a burning log. She picked it up. The heat from it burning her hands didn’t startle her, she was too overcome with hate and sadness. She gave the thief one last angered stare, as she shoved the flaming wood into the man’s face. Krickarr cried out as the thief screamed in agony. Kahkan lifted the wood as the man’s wailing echoed throughout the burning streets, overshadowing the flaming roars around them. Kahkan was not satisfied. She raised the log and began to beat the man to death. Krickarr never once looked away. Tears streamed down his face as he saw his one friend’s life get beaten away. Following the attack, Kahkan turned to her son, who lay, weeping into the dirt. Kahkan knelt down to her son.

“Krickarr…He was not your friend.”

Krickarr jumped up and roared “What are you talking about you monster!”

Kahkan took the bow from her back and examined it.

“We followed the thief out to here. Turns out he was more than a thief. In fact, he and his militia here were planning on invading Ha’shuan once they got their leader back.” Kahkan gestured towards the beaten form that lay behind them. “I ordered the attack…and your father went with the first brigade…but…”

Krickarr noticed the blood splattered across the bow. He gasped. Kahkan began to cry.

“Your ‘friend’ was the one who did it…So you listen here…Don’t trust anyone, especially criminal scum like him.”

Krickarr’s mind was invaded with a number of feelings. All good will he had for the thief was now gone that’s for sure. The only two people he cared about, were now wiped away. How was this poss-

A thought entered into the young agori’s mind. He looked up to his mother.
“What about the other people in this village, you saved them, right?”
Kahkan looked down in shame. She looked back to her son.
“Sacrifices sometimes must be made.”

With that, everything in Krickarr’s mind shattered. The boy he once was had disappeared. And more importantly, the mother he once known was dead to him. Blankly, he stood and grabbed his father’s bow. He looked at it and reached into his pocket. There, he wriggled his teleportation crystal in his fingers. He looked once more at his kneeling, crying mother and closed his eyes. He was engulfed with purple smoke and vanished, which was the last time a mother saw her little boy, or what was left of him.

Kahkan was suddenly jolted out of her memories as she audibly heard her grown son sigh in boredom.

“Look, Krickarr…What I did that day was unforgivable. I butchered an entire village to prove a point…But we have to move on. I had a lot of demons after that day, losing my husband and son in such a short time. But we need think of the bigger picture right now. I get if you hate me, but I need your help.”

She stood and peered out the windows into the distant mountains of Van’shu.

“My spies have told me that you were once with the party of agori who stopped the Comers. Is that true?”

“…Yes…”

“Well, since you have left them, a new evil has risen. Alphinaud, the leader of the former Elysium Empire, has taken the power of the Fearbringer, and has returned to Zanakarand, wishing to once again raise the Elysium Empire for his nefarious means.”

“Are the others okay?!” Krickarr worriedly asked

“As far as I know, yes. They encountered Alphinaud not too long ago, but he escaped them and now resides in Zanarkarand.”

Krickarr thought for a moment and walked besides Lady Kahkan.

“So what do you need me for?” Krickarr inquired.

“None of my soldiers are in Zanakarand, for the obvious reason that it has been abandoned for years.” Lady Kahkan explained. “Bringing an army from here to Zanakarand would take too long, so we need to teleport there. However, to teleport that many people over that amount of distance, we would need a lot of power. I have our best men charging their crystals for the teleportation, but we need someone to focus in on the location of Zanakarand.” Kahkan placed her palm on her son’s shoulder, much to Krickarr’s dismay. “You are the only one skilled enough to do that.”

Krickarr toyed with the idea in his mind. He said he was done with having allies or friends. After the thief, he isolated himself for years. He didn’t know if he could handle helping out once more. He looked back into his mother’s eyes. She was right. This was for the best of Botana and for the whole world. He had to do it.

“Fine…I’ll help you.”

Lady Kahkan almost jumped with glee. She collected herself and stood professionally.

“Okay…Thank you so much Krickarr! I will gather the others now and prepare the teleportation.”

Lady Kahkan skipped out of the building with joy, leaving her confused son in her wake. As she walked to the battlements to assemble her team, she thought to herself. She could have easily used her own crystal to teleport to Zanakarand, but she had convinced herself somehow to seek out Krickarr. Despite all that had happened, she still loved her son.

Krickarr stood, arms crossed. He was surrounded by hundreds of Kahkan soldiers. Lady Kahkan was preparing the others. After a short discussion, the conductors of this teleportation grabbed their crystals and held them to their chests. Their white forearms turned a vain-y lavender. Kahkan bowed to them and turned herself towards Krickarr.

"You're up, Krickarr."

Krickarr stood forward and pulled out a loaned teleportation crystal. He had dumped his personal one a long time ago. It was attached to too many bad memories. He examined it for a moment, then similarly held it to his chest. He shut his eyes and concentrated. It would be hard to aim towards Zanakarand. All he knew about it was the stories he had heard. This wasn't working. Aha! He should think of his companions, and where they are now. He thought of Vos and Fotoh, of Virgil and the other Helgran warriors. He also imagined Ramza and Qiav, although they felt distant. Particularly Ramza, who gave Krickarr a sense of unfamiliarity. He quickly shook the thought of the two and focused on the others. He clenched the crystal harderas his thoughts became clearer. He felt a gaseous residue come off of his fist. He smirked as he and all of the warriors surrounding him blinked into nothingness, leaving only a small population of guards in the village to protect it and it's people.
