Round 2
 Group admin
Welcome to Round Two of the 2016 Mini MocOlympics! Congratulations to everyone who has made it past the first round.

There are some new rules that I must mention:

You NO LONGER need to state your bracket in the title or description. What you DO need to include is a link to your opponentís entry and/or homepage to make it easier for us to judge. From this round onwards, we will comment the results on your entries.

Judging in the elimination rounds is conducted by the judges voting on the best build within each match-up. As soon as you get 3 votes out of 5, you will advance to the next round. Marley Mac will be a backup judge if needed.

Once both entries in a match-up are posted, the voting process for that match-up will begin immediately. Therefore, once your entry is added to the group, it is set in stone.

If your opponent fails to post in time or gets disqualified for any reason, you advance by default.

Thatís enough talking, now letís begin. Here are your match-ups:

Lobo 630 vs Ryan Dempster
Life in a Video Game
Youíve been transported into the 8-Bit Dimension! Show us what you would do to survive in a video game.

Sam Jensen vs Carter Witzenburg
Movie Screenshot
Build a MOC depicting a scene from any of the Star Wars, Star Trek, or Harry Potter movies. I havenít watched every single one, so maybe Iíll learn something from your builds.

Lego Predator vs Justin Li
No Grayscale
Self-explanatory. You cannot use black, white, or any shades of grey in your MOC. Letís add some color to this contest!

Jacob Syrups vs Hadden Kurtz
Confessions of a MOCer
What is it about MOCing that really bugs you? Sorting? Photography? Bricklink!? Build a MOC illustrating one of these hardships.

Geology Joe vs Brennan the Pizzamaker
One Shot
Build anything you want, but you can only post one picture (make it the main image, of course). How much detail can you pack into one picture?

Mitchell Long vs Zachary Baker
Underground
What is below the surface world? Creatures from the planet core? Just a bunch of miners? Sewer Gators?!

Classical Bricks vs Connor R.
I have to WHAT?
Have you ever been dared by a friend to do something tough or cruel? Build a vignette (16x16 max) of such a thing. The funnier the better.

Marco QM vs C Stucky
It's Raining!
Are you outside dancing around and jumping in puddles, or inside watching TV? Build a MOC depicting a typical rainy day for you.

I generated a bracket online so you can kind of predict who you will be playing in the next round: http://challonge.com/2016_mmo

The deadline will be on Friday, August 12 at 11:59 pm server time. Good luck!

Hahaha! My category is funny: "depict a typical rainy day for you". I live in the semi-arid (I don't know why they don't take the "semi" off of that) tropical. Our rainy season lasts 4 moths, then its another 4 years before we get another ;P

Your rain patterns seem to accurately resemble my activity on MOCpages. You'll find me posting lots of MOCs in a very short time (3-5 days), then not posting for a couple of weeks (sometimes even a month), then the cycle starts again.

No, it's all up to you. Note that you can't photoshop anything in though, so if you choose to add rain, it must be out of bricks.

For me, personally, I would say it doesn't count, but I think it also depends on how much of a border you give it, and what details go into it. I also think overhang is something to be considered. City needs to see this, but for now, build it to where you could remove it from the border and it look like it doesn't necessarily need one.

It's just a simple 1 stud wide black border.

No. You either cut corners, or you miss the deadline. That is to make it fair. Why should the deadline be changed for one person? And not that I don't trust you, but extensions have always been a detriment to competitions because then the competitors still continue to not post their entries.

Even though the judges have the same amount of power according to MOCpages, City is still the one that is running the contest. I will say that in the judges group, we had one yes, two no, me being ambiguous, and then also City that made a final decision because he thought it was an error on his part.

But there's no way it could be an error on his part, Mitchell posted his model to Mocpages 52 minutes after the deadline, so how is that city's fault? Unless city creator was at mitch's house bugging him just before the deadline, there's no way it could be his fault.

My original idea was to have the deadline be at 11:59 PT, so that way most of the world would have until midnight. That is exactly what they do in the Lands of Mythron for their monthly challenges. Plus, according to his homepage, he lives really far from US East, so he probably didn't realize he was late until after he posted the entry.

It's a secret.

I don't know who started it. It's not a bad way to go though for whoever posts the final scores which in this case is City. I don't want to have to go around every single entry trying to collect all the points or votes, I want to just leave my comment and then have them all collected in the same place when it comes time to tally everything up.

The comments on individual builds are really nice for the competitors; the comments on the judge's group are nice for posting the scores. I suggest the judges do both: post a small comment on the individual builds but also tally up their own votes and post them in the judge's group.

I don't know why Tucker didn't comment his votes. I explicitly told the judges to comment their votes on the entries.
