One more question: Is the "mini" in the tittle referring to the scale of the builds or the scale of the contest?

The scale of the contest (4 rounds as opposed to 7). I thought people would figure that out by the amount of rounds, but thanks for asking.

No. The contest is smaller than the real MocOlympics.

Yes! The word "mini" in the title means the contest is small. If I was talking about micro scale, I would refer to that in the title.

I'm looking at 12 minimum. 16-20 would be nice, but more would be hectic. I opened sign-ups early so we can get more people.

Hey, is this a MELO Contest or a MocOlympics Contest? I will join in either way, but I am just wondering for planning the different builds I am going to do. :)

This is in no way related to the MELO. If you're asking about the categories, well, they can be about anything. If you really want an idea, here is a link to the 2014 MocOlympics:

Frequently Asked Questions:

As it stands, we will have 4 rounds. If we do get above 20 sign-ups, 4 rounds will not be reasonable and we will expand to 5 rounds.

This is not mini-scale. The word "mini" simply means this is a contest based on the real MocOlympics, but simply shorter.

No old material, Adam! Everything must be brand new. Anyway, the categories we have in store for you will probably not fit with any of your existing MOCs.

We have a total of 18 people who signed up and two who have been active in the group but not signed up. I will still put them in the contest though. If everyone who signed up enters in Round 1, we will have 5 rounds. If less than 12 enter, we will have to shrink to 4 rounds.

Ok, I can't wait, but I can't think of what to build, but I will figure it out before the end of the month. :)

The real MO's in the past have been longer (7, some 8 rounds) and had many more members.

No. "Mini" refers to the size of the contest not the size of the builds. My own build is going to be on a 32 x 32 baseplate!

--- Edit: ---
Not in mini-scale either, mind you. It is a good sized minifigure-scale build.

C answered your question, but are you competing? You haven't signed up, so I'm just asking to clarify.

If you are competing, then you're in Bracket B.

Well, I have plans to revive Contest Central after this, and if there is no sign of the real MO's continuing, I will definitely do this next year.

That is a really good question. I am going to say yes, but there is also the risk of them not all being equally scored, which would then bring your chances down. Now, if there is a particular idea behind all of them, and you found a way to "cheat" and make them all able to connect into one super MOC, I'd be impressed. Technically, it would still be one build, it just has the capability of being split up for photographing purposes. Of course, City should still see this and give his opinion. Don't stop yourself from building more than one creation though, keep the ideas flowing and if you are allowed more than one build, then you wouldn't have wasted time waiting for a response.

Do these count as 1 part for Connor and I's round?

Minifig heads w/ different printing
Minifig torsos and legs (or do we have to break them down into arms, hands, etc.)
Levers
Rotating plates
Stud shooters (w/ triggers)
Windows + glass (or glass/windows each are 1)

Lobo, not Connor.

Minifig heads w/ different printing: Printing doesn't matter, as long as it's the same Lego design ID. That goes for printed bricks and tiles too.

Minifig torsos and legs (or do we have to break them down into arms, hands, etc.): No, you don't have to break them down.

Levers: One piece

Rotating plates: One piece

Stud shooters (w/ triggers): I'd say one piece, but I have a good feeling another judge would counter me.

Windows + glass: Hmmm, I'd have to think about that one. Ask another judge.
