Well...I make a Moc, make it in my story then have it mention its past, then the other character is like uhhh....
thats what I did with Shards! :D

I made backstories but I'm starting 2 stories soon, one of which you'll probably already know.

come up with the general plot (e.g. toa retrieve new light mask, toa find desilva, toa defeat swarmers, eat cake)then just build on that.

Now that I think about it, it is a good foundation to start off with the story before the characters. Could some people do that in order to make their characters in a way that doesn't distract from the plot?

For me, I think up a scene, write it down, and then expand. If that makes any sense.

Perhaps the lore behind the character at first, but lore only fully forms when MOC is built. And as every MOC has character behind them, the story starts and flows along, as characters and lore behind them evolve and progress as a whole...
