So me and a group of my friends are trying to have a Bible Study group among us, and we have no idea what we're doing! Would greatly appreciate it if you guys could pray that we figure it out, and learn a lot! (also, if you have any tips, i would love to hear 'em)

Well my grandma is in hospice care and will probably die in the next week, due to heart failure. My family visited her last night to pretty much say our last goodbyes. Though the good news is she is a Christian, and a strong believer. But prayer will be much appreciated.

Lot of a stuff on my mind right now... So let's begin,

My dad says that my family is called to the mission feild and not to long ago, they think God has finally decided where we would be going: Togo, a sliver of Africa.

This would be in about two or more years. Meaning I would be 15/16. I would have to leave highschool and all my friends to got to France for a year, to learn French, then to the mission feild for two or more years...

Then...
They gave me .one. Big. Honker.

They said I could stay with some family friends for a few years while they are at the mission feild. And I have extremely mixed feeling right now.

I'm sad, scared, worried, stressed, and anxious. Also, i am excited, curious, and confused. So, please pray for me and that I have the strength to go through this and make the right decision. If you can give me any tips right here, that would be great,

You can pray for me by calling me by LJG

Thanks!

Wow! Even I, an MK since I was 10 months (or so) old, don't know exactly what to think about your story. One thing I can tell from it: you need prayer. So I'll be sure to pray for you these next weeks.

Togo, hmm. I got family (uncle on mother's side and his family) preparing to leave Saturday for Cameroon.

Ok. So you have a choice between going to the mission-field with your parents or staying at home with friends. Tough one. Let be see if I can help you a bit. Before I give you advice, though, I would like to remind you that this is your decision and however much I know the facts (which I don't), I still am not qualified to make this decision for you. I hope I can help and encourage you, but in the end, this is your choice.

So my first, and probably my best, piece of advise is this: Do not rush your decision. Take your time, if you have any, and make sure you pray often about it. I know this may sound weird but, the fact that your parents were called to the mission-field does not necessarily mean that YOU were called to the mission-filed.

Other advice I could give you includes: seek the council of your parents, pastor or any other adult you admire or feel would give good advise on the matter. Don't be too hard on yourself for being dependent on your parents if you go. The mission-filed is definitely NOT a place for wimps (being in a strange country, with unknown people, who speak a different language and having few friends). If you decide to go, God will provide you with the strength you need to keep going. If you decide not to go, that doesn't mean that you are not strong enough to be on the mission field. Each of us has his/her own calling and we should do what God calls us to do.

One last piece of advice (and this counts for all of us). Enjoy every bit of time you have with your friends and family now. You never know when your time will be over. I'm not talking just about serving on the mission-field, either. God could call any one of us home at any time. So have fun and edify each other while you can.

I hope that helps. I continue praying that God would help you make the decision He wants you to make.

Sincerely,
C Stucky

Wow, thank you for all.... That!

Yeah, well here is kind of how I feel.

I think that if I were to stay, I would miss my family, but I would be real happy where I would be( wth good friends, good church, good town) but I would REALLY miss my parents and siblings. I've more or less grown stronger in the sense that I would be in a remote area where everyone speaks different than I. The only thing that is pulling me away from the mission feild, are my friends and and school.

The past year has been a roller coaster ride, people have been running to me for advice and its become a very large burden to me. Especially that I have successfully navigated a Suic:de case. :( I think that if I leave, this persons life might be in the line, ( they said I was a reason they were still alive) but thanks to God's strength and much prayer, it is almost finished I believe.

I would do my freshman and soft more year of highschool here. So, it would leave me with a few years to work on the case, if it's not done by then, and few more years with friends and family. I will most likely go to the feild. I doubt it will come to the circumstance that I will stay behind.

When I put it in words, my life would have mostly everything I've ever wanted:

I'd have all my instruments, my own room, friends, maybe a good girlfriend, and comfort. But I'd leave behind my family and put ahead my own choices.

I remember my dad always saying, " The bird has a nest, and a fox has its hole, but the man has no place to lay his head" or something like that from the Bible. He made it clear we understood.

There is an eerie dream I've had for years now though.

When I was littler, I had a dream that I was at an airport, watching my brother, sister, mom, and dad, boarding a plane, and I was left watching them leave with our dog.

Strange enough, they said that I could stay behind, and that our dog might not be able to come. I don't know how important that is to it at all, but I thought it might be something to think about....

I'm most likely going to the mission, and leaving my home behind.

But yeah. Thanks!

So are your parents going independent or with a mission? We're with BGFM (Brazil Gospel Fellowship Mission). Not a very well known mission but still offers fellowship ;)

I see your problem. Most of the stuff I will be saying will just be supporting other peoples advice. First off don't rush it, trying to rush it would just get you stressed out. Proverbs 21:29-30 (with Carter commentary) A wicked man puts on a bold face, (don't pretend that nothing is wrong, if you are struggling with your problems talk to others about it. Also talk to your parents about it.) but the upright gives thought to his ways. No wisdom, no understanding, no counsel can avail against the Lord. (the only place your going to find out what the right choice is would be to ask God, He knows the answer to your problem. Also I strongly encourage you to keep reading the bible). And don't forget you got people praying for you. Hopefully you find this helpful.

Your friend,
Carter

Oh wow, I certainly will be praying and I can see how you would be both excited and nervous.
Just remember that if God is calling and wants you to hear then you will. And if that is where he wants you to go then you shouldn't have any fears! I hope to be able to continue to encourage and connect with you for the next few years and possibly (hopefully) beyond! Continue to grow closer to Jesus!

Praying! Also, this verse is used out of context, but it is great, and so true "In my distress I called upon the Lord and He answered me." Psalm 120:1, it is one of the fifteen psalm of ascents that the Israelites sang on the way to the temple... But it is a great verse nonetheless. Again, I will be praying!

My dad and and my older sister are leaving for El Salvador on a missions trip early Saturday morning. So prayer would be nice.

Ok, I'm leaving on a 7-hour trip today to see the graduation of one of our church members from a kind of Bible seminary. I'll be sure to pray for your Dad and sister's mission trip.

So there's a lot going on, but I have 3 things that I would like prayer for.

1. My grandfather, (the only grandparent left) is 85, and he's been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. So basically, his breathing is really bad, and it's just going to get worse, until... you know. Very hard for him, and us. He is currently on oxygen 24/7

2. My dad got laid off from work, bit it's kinda a good thing, because he got a generous package, (about 8 months salary). He is actively pursuing other jobs,

3. Partly because of #2, we are considering moving back to PA. My brother is at Grove City College, and I would like to go there in a few years. It would be hard for me to leave my church and friends up here though.

Hey Carter, I don't know if your family is into performing music, but I found something interesting about babies developing perfect pitch (that's when someone is able to say "that's and A" when a note is played). Apparently, if you expose little children (especially under 2 years old) to classical or jazz music (these are the types of music that use more chords than other music) and identify the notes (this might be just playing them on the keyboard and saying them out loud), they learn to identify exactly the right pitches. It works with chords too! Here's a video explaining more fully: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgFdics3uKo.

Maybe little Decker could play at Carnegie Hall someday :)

Can you guys pray for my family. Only me, my mom, and my sister are Christians. I would appreciate it if you would do that. Thanks.
