So Pip's comment on Jaton's latest episode got me thinking - it's such a shame that our newer members don't know the epic stories that we had when The Insurgency was newer!

So for all our newbies, I highly recommend reading Toa Jaton's series to find out about Jakor, Kermunklin's series to find out about Max Power and Dr. Lobotomy and Indy Beetle's series to find out about Captain Codder.

Plus of course, all of our still-active member's stories!

Does anybody else have a personal favourite Insurgency series?

Yeah, I have a lot of series that I still have to read. Though, I have read the Max Powers series. (I may or may not plan to feature Dr. Lobotomy in one of my next episodes. :P ) It's probably my favorite. (Besides Matt's, Jack's and my own. But those don't count. xP)

IRL does catch up to you everyday, especially when you have a full time job, families, and many other things that need constant attention. But who knows, perhaps given time when they have their hands free from it all, they may just come back.

Well, I am missing a lot of the right parts for any large builds, but my biggest issue is the size of the set...

(I do believe I've bitten off more than I can chew..)

If anything Philip, might I suggest doing a small editing of the robots that you build and do some photoshop/editing to make them look like large tank-like machines?

I'd still have to ditch what I already had for a storyline. I also am considering using some Micro-building.

Anyway, thanks for your help!

Considering Risa (and Dustin by association) are some of the most wanted people in the system at the moment, I'd say they'd sit around 10/15,000 dollars each, going off the assumption that Jakor is $10,000.

The GI have definitely put Collins at a large bounty, considering the amount of crimes he's committed against them, maybe 100k or higher?

To face up against someone like him they'd need to put a large price on his head to persuade people to track him down.

I'm not going to go on a rant here, but Star Wars was awful. It was such a let down. Sure, there were some good scenes but overall it was a complete mess with pointless humor, bad CGI and a time-wasting story arc for characters they didn't know what to do with.

Yes, I reckon they would be ranked higher. As for the current Grand Admiral, it's never been said, so at this point it is unknown. Although they are almost certainly a human male, due to the prejudices high up in the command chain.

Yeah, I mean, I loved it. A lot of RK's criticisms are valid, it's not a perfect movie, but it has some absolutely amazing moments. I think overall it was very good - while I see the flaws, they didn't put me off the entire product as much as they did RK. [IAD]

I have seen Rogue One.For another topic of conversation,if you could save only one member of the crew, with that person somehow having a part in the original trilogy, who would it be?I would choose Chirrut Imwe or K-2SO.

Ok, so we have very different opinions on TFA but, I absolutely loved Rogue one. It felt like the perfect Star Wars movie and it didn't even need any jedi.

Yeah, it was nice to just have a good Star Wars movie that didn't have something about it that bugged me.

I haven't. It looked quite interesting, but Dane Dehan's face annoys me for some reason, and when it was released to terrible reviews I decided I wasn't overly bothered about it. :P [IAD]

Well, I would highly recommend it! Dane's face can be annoying, but he's a pretty good actor nonetheless, and the premise of the story is really very good! Some fantastic world(or space) building to it.

Alrighty then, opinion on the Last Jedi. Personally, great movie. Some fantastic cinematography and special affects, and Daisy Ridley and Mark Hamil are great throughout.

However, it was very focused on the side characters at times, and there were moments when you were taken out of the moment quite heavily. Other characters are also a bit much, or just seem put there to fulfil a single purpose and that's it.

Still, a solid film and I would recommend a watch.

I am on a tropical planet. I am on a beach. I see person. The person wears Old Republic clone armor.

"Who are you?" He askes.

I reply. "A traveler."

He pulls out a red saber. I ignite mine. I smash him. I then walk down the beach.

Okay! Writing advice is...honestly very subjective. It differs from author to author, and there really is no 'right' way to do it. However, here's a few things I do when writers block for the T.I. hits.

1: Look at your characters. Have they been devolved enough? Is there possibly an area they are lacking in? Have you shown their motivations clearly enough?

2: Look at your villains. Who are they? What are their motivations currently? Why do they want to get at the hero, or why does the hero want to stop them?

3: Look at your plot. For me, I like to plan out key plot points ages in advance, so is the plot moving in the direction I need it to? Is the ending that I want to reach in sight, or do I need to write another episode to keep it all on track?

4: Look at yourself. Are you liking the story so far? Are you enjoying writing it? If not, take a breather. Think about it, but don't force it out. A better story will be the result.

As you currently don't have much in the way of a story (apart from one pretty decent main character), I'd advise working on their backstory more, on where they come from and what they find important in life. Also consider introducing some conflict. Heck, this whole Registration Act would be a great place to start, considering your character's Collective. Maybe he's got to deal with a boss that hates him, or a crowd that abuses him.

Anyway, do with all of this as you will. I'm no expert on the subject, just rather good at waffling on :)

Yo, what year did the Collective enter the Galaxy? I'm working on a backstory for Cyrus for how he climbed the ranks, and then putting it in episode form.

Check out the Timeline. There's a link in the FAQ.

Posting frequently and making sure your entries are well-made. Different builds are worth different amounts of points, too. So it's worth checking those out in the FAQ as well.

I know I've said this before, (about thrice) but I intend to get back into the insurgency a bit, and try and forget that my previous 3 episodes existed. I'll keep the same character but hopefully this time he'll have more depth, the building won't be so.... Bad, and the story will have something remotely interesting in it.

R.K.: Could you change my character on the Collective from Chant to Cyrus? Chant is my Impurium character. Oh, is there a Lord Mage on Quotor? If not, could Cyrus become the Lord Mage there?

Within the Collective Colonies, Lord Mages rule over planets, clusters of planets, or entire sectors, depending on their seniority. That being said, Sector 54 won the war, and so The Collective don't control it. As such, there's no Lord Mage of Qoter, or any of the other planets in the Sector. [IAD]

So here's a question for you all:

What are your favourite scenes from The Insurgency?

So, do you have any particular scenes from an episode of somebody's series that stand out to you? They can be from your own or from somebody else's. Is it a bada*s battle scene or an intimate, more personal one?

Sound off below!

One that I like is from Karmunklin's End of Gyroscope 3 part 2 where Max Power is giving cooking metaphors while beating up the boarding party. In fact, pretty much everything by Karmunklin is good, for that matter.I also like his Jakor tribute in part 3(as well as how we had inspired each other back and forth).

Just some I remember liking are Phil looking for the Bendar on Soateria in one of his early episodes. I thought The Traveller, from Werewolffe's series, walking through Etrion was also cool. I mean maybe it wouldn't seem like there's much to walking but idk I guess I like that "wanderer" kind of aesthetic... :p Several of your Darkblade scenes were pretty bada*s, well photographed and edited. But I also liked the New Years episode (I guess it's more the entire episode than just a scene) in season 3, it was very classy

Probably the ones that stuck with me the most are Jack's early ones, since those were the only ones I read at the time. But as for favorite scene, I think the one in Kermunklin's series where Doctor Lobotomy is showing Junior Agent all of the crazy experiments

You know what, I was thinking about this just the other day! Creating a fact file of the different troop types and also the different ship types. I agree that it would be useful. HOWEVER, the reason I decided against doing it is because not everybody has all the right parts to create the different classes the way we may show them. So whilst I agree that it would be helpful, I don't think we should because it would be unfair to say "This is what they look like" when some players don't have those parts.

We could give them generic, easy to achieve looks. i.e. a storm trooper torso with a white helmet and black visor and standard blue legs and arms or something. I was just going to rely on the artist depiction and general color schemes.:P

Yeah, I've mostly been using the Mandalorian torso with white arms and black hands as the 'grunts' of the GI army, or the most common soldiers.

The only 'set' uniform I have is for the Shock troopers. Other than that, it's a bit random for any other troops.

However, it might be nice to have some consistency, though I do see where you're coming from about a lack of parts...

Maybe there don't have to be pictures or descriptions of what the troops look like, but rather just a list of different types of troops and what their specialties are.It could be something like this:

Top of the morning/afternoon our good sir! My name is Director K.W., one of the members of the CGN Crew, and I wish to welcome you here with open arms. If you are having a hard time picking a faction for yourself, I would like to suggest possibly either Aurelia or The Collective? We have very few members for The Collective and don't have a ton of Aurelia members active anymore, but I wish to not force any of these things upon you. I would say join the Marauders lol, but I would think you would probably benefit more from another faction perhaps. The choice is yours to make and yours alone.

If you want to read the events that has taken place by far, might I suggest going to the history of events here:

You should be able to find what you are looking for there and be kept up-to-date on the past and current events to help you with your story possibly.

Random fact I learned today. If you follow my episodes you'll know that the character "Dushka Evazorn who started out as a bounty hunt target has become a rather important part of my story. Well it turns out the word "Dushka" is Russian for "Ducky." I have been laughing for quite awhile upon discovering this. I dunno if Blast knew this when he created the name for the bounty hunt card but a Con Artist named Dushka. She's literally a robber ducky...

HAHAHA! A robber ducky?! That's brilliant mate! What a strange, yet welcome, coincidence!

I posted this a while ago, but I found a similar thing with a few of my characters.

Vorn: loosely translate to "front" in German. Being the main character? Dustin Vorn is at the front of the story.

Risa: translates to "laugh" in Spanish. Risa had slowly begun to laugh a lot more thanks to Dustin's company.

Jezna: translates to "angry" in Slovenian. Jez'na's always angry at everything.

Sal: translates to "will" in Afrikaans. Sal's will and determination are the main things that keep him going.

Weird coincidences indeed...

Since we're talking about names I chose the name William Nantucket because I wanted some fancy rich kid association..... Runner ups were "Chadwick" and "Chet" lol

But also I think "Nantucket" stands out a little sort of like "Skywalker". I was also going for a bold name that would suit a hero. But from my last episode apparently that is not the family's original name...

Oh and on another note, I never meant for him to be called Will... But I just got tired of typing William..... haha I think I need to fix that

I think Phil and Boba's name origin are obvious. (Me and my brother IRL) Threepio is even more obvious...

Well, I suppose I can explain why I gave the certain Talon's members their codenames.

Phil is Falcon because, well, that was just because it was cool. :P

Boba is Macaw because of his bright robes.

Cassowary is named that because his hair and colors remind me of a Cassowary and its head crest.

Hawk, because it's similar to Falcon and that goes with the role he plays in the story.

Osprey (also known as shark-face) because Osprey are good fishers.

And Raven because of her dark colors and personality.

I'd say Ap'kajli's name was obvious, but it obviously isn't.xD So here we go, breakin' it down:

Ap is a Welsh patronymic term meaning "son of," as in Madog ap Rhys.

Kajli is actually a sort of conjugation, for current lack of a better term, Of the names Kaj and Li.

Kaj is an alternate spelling of the Hawaiian name Kai which means "Sea," as well as it being the name of one of the Ninja in the Lego Ninjago franchise.

Li has a slew of meanings. It comes from the Chinese 理 (lǐ) meaning "reason, logic", 立 (lž) meaning "stand, establish", 黎 (lŪ) meaning "black, dawn", 力 (lž) meaning "power, capability, influence."

Any of which could apply to Ap'kajli.

And Tu'tuk was the surname of one of the leaders of the BRM, a legendary SWRP faction that I am blessed to lead. It is also a conjegation of sorts.Tu comes from the Sino-Vietnamese 秀 (tķ) meaning "luxuriant, beautiful, elegant, outstanding". Tuk comes from the Sanskrit तुक् (tuk) meaning "swift."

...Do the factions have their won individual threads? If so, could someone direct me to them, because I haven't seen any as of yet.

There are faction groups, but I don't think they are active at all.Or have active Admins. You may need to be approved by one to join, but I'm not sure.

There isn't anything behind most of my names.Blank's name and concept was based off of old LEGO Halo videos by Timmober. And Jang is inspired by Jangbricks.Would it surprise you that I've always pronounced Jaze's name as 'Jay-zee'?

Wow, you guys comment FAST :P. I guess that's one of the benefits of having human moderators that are specialized to each group... Unlike a certain website... Anyways, my character is either going to join Aurelia or Marauders... Still not sure, but I'm leaning towards Marauders. And now that I'm reading through some posts, I realize that my writing skills pale in comparison to that of the rest of this group... Anyways I have one last question: Do the factions have their won individual threads? If so, could someone direct me to them, because I haven't seen any as of yet.

Aurelia or Marauders sound good, although we do have a lot of Marauders. haha! But take your pick!
As for writing, don't worry about it! Everyone has different levels of ability and I bet you that the longer you're here, the better your writing will get. I've seen it in numerous other players. As for faction threads, there are links in the FAQ. I'd recommend reading through there as it answers a lot of your questions from yesterday. As Jaton has said, we do also have separate faction groups, although they have been inactive for some time.

Grant and Norea's names come from me. I thought they sounded cool.

However, Phantom's name comes Captain Phasma and The Phantom of the Opera, which is even more built upon because of Eric's name, as that is the real name of the Phantom in the book by Gaston Leroux... Ya' know, just spelled with a K.

~G~

Ooh! I love the Phantom of the Opera!

Most of my characters just have, uh, names. Eris's is interesting though, for a few reasons. One, it's a shortened form of the Collective word 'Eris'e', the word for air. This is a word she uses quite a lot, and I generally assume that her father named her this consciously. Her name is also, obviously, very close to mine, although that is actually just a big cooincidence.

Yeah guys, I'm sorry, I can't upload my entry today. The computer I'm using needs a special adapter to attach USB ports, such as my camera, and I can't find it. It'll be up later, if I do.

Hey guys! Iím Silver! (Clearly) Iím pretty new to this site... But anyways, I decided to join this because a) COME ON, itís a science fiction role play, so... b) I wanted to make a some friends outside of the Lego.com refugees, and get to know the other people here. Could someone explain to me major evens of whatís happened in game since The Shift? And how one would go about starting off? I canít seem to find rules, but I just joined 5 minutes ago, so...†

If you want to read the events that has taken place by far, might I suggest going to the history of events here:
http://www.moc-pages.com/group_conversation.php?id=23546&topicid=99589
You should be able to find what you are looking for there and be kept up-to-date on the past and current events to help you with your story possibly.

Again, welcome to The Insurgency, and hopefully, have a fan-tucking-tastic day/night! See ya' around.

- Director K.W.

Thanks! I'm beginning to lead toward Aurelia...

Actually, her chromium armor would have definitely protected her from fire, and as we all know, people in Star Wars have a way of escaping a ship AFTER it was blown up.
