Lukas is still the Archdruid, the college doesn't know he is gone for good. For your second question, you'll have to wait and see. Hahaha!

Really? I have my whole story planned out all the way upo to when I get to 100 points. (Which won't be for quite a while, I know.) Do you just kind of get your story together on the fly, or did you just end it so quickly that you haven't though of what's going to happen next?

It wasn't gunpowder - here's how the conversation went (when planning for the Seer/Enchanter rank):

Quoting ~ Brick
Maybe raising some undead minions and destroying a village could be a final test?

Quoting Gilbert Despathens
Oh, now that's an idea...

Necromancer

This is a level 4 rank, meaning that it must be at least the fourth rank claimed by a player. It requires the Ambassador rank as a prerequisite.

The Druids' College in Hadran isn't about sickles and standing stones (well, not ALL about sickles and standing stones) - its wizards and magic-users pursue arts that their counterparts in Reedus fear to touch. Advanced students in their Department of Post-Mortem Interactions, who must level a square mile of Mythron with their magical powers before being accepted, are given the ultimate power: the ability to raise vast armies of the dead. A Hadran Necromancer is allowed a horde of skeletal soldiers immune to practically all physical damage and may attack entire cities at will.

Quoting Thomas of Tortuga
Wait, you mean I can only attack cities? What do I have to do to be able to destroy all of Mythron?

Quoting Gilbert Despathens
That's the perk.

Perk:
Living Nuke -
Destroy any and all parts of the world you wish. Blow away your enemies and ban other players forever from the LOM! Build your fortress and start a new order as Dark Lord of All!
Challenge: Build a ten-foot-tall Tower of Evil out of home-cast Lego bricks made of iron (epic build, worth 5x10^23 points).

Yipes, hold the presses. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vikings#Etymology

Viking is a NOUN, and someone would go "on a viking." It seems to derive from "vik," or a small creek or inlet, and to the Norse it meant an overseas expedition or anyone who partook in such a voyage.

Quoting the Challenge
Show a character travelling through the wilds of Rainos or trying to persuade some skeptical guards to let him or her into a camp, town or stronghold to speak with an authority figure about the network. Alternatively, show at least two Rainosian forces practicing joint operations.

Okay, the challenge says that we're neutral so far - and we really should take this time to build up our own strength, now that the other factions have consolidated into alliances and we're on our own in the west - but, even if we don't directly launch an assault next month, we'll probably have some way of influencing events. The question is, what do we do and who do we do it for? As a faction, we have the least enmity towards Nerogue at this moment, but we can always change that. Player actions can force the staff to change the course of events. My first question to you guys is, what allies do your characters have that you might want to help out?

I'll go first: Although I'm to blame for much of the shoddy statesmanship that made us enemies with everyone, my characters are actually more in line with the Outlaws. The hero of my previous seasons especially has a bond there, albeit with only one person. However, one of my side-characters (who is going to become much more influential in the next season) actually is an Enalican, and the Rainosians he works with also have links to Edrid Torr's Nerogue network.

Despite the fact that we're supposed to be neutral, my character can't really help it, because he is already in Mythron, so he'll probably take a small part in the fighting. But let's be honest, what Rainosian wouldn't want to hit Mythron while they're in a war with someone, us or not? It just makes sense. That being said, I do have plans to complete the UC as well. Kinda hard to pass up 5 points.

The Council Jonathan shares his network with is full of Neroguians, so Jonathan would be of the opinion to support them. That said, Jonathan would try to find any way to resolve this without war. But Jonathan will support Nerogue. And that is what he will advise Rainos to do.

My character Gimmerton, as I'll explain in detail in his Intro, is part of an underground spy network around the public areas of Rainos, basically intended to gather information for the general that I created, Barberi, who has ties to the leader Bartok. I'm not quite sure how clans are organized, e.g. who can create one, but my hope with these characters is they can be part of an underground organization with an intent to unify Rainos for the possibility of war against Mythron. Therefore, I am all for a bit of plotting towards that end.

Of course, being the newcomer, I don't really have much say yet in what goes on, but I've read quite a bit of the history to be informed. I am also going to try to enter the UC.

Well, welcome to Rainos in case I haven't said that before. Pretty much anyone can create a new clan... although in all honesty "clans" is too narrow a word for the groups we have so far and should probably be changed. Go ahead and introduce yours, or take a look at the group homepage to see if someone else has made one that you might want to join.

I vote we teach our children how to use catapults :P

I definitely think we should do something about Enalica after the Santuario Incident, but Mythron could be a decent target, too.

Could we try to take over the smuggling/raiding/piracy industry while Enalica's trying to turn itself into a second Mythron? If they're blockading Nerogue and Bodus, then that means that any of our ships that get through with trade goods will have a monopoly on their wares. Plus, we're also /good/ at getting around coastal security, and the Treaty of Meids prevents Mythron from interfering with our trade ships along its northern coasts.

Great idea? Are we interested in a possible profiteering law? That would make for some really interesting plots for my story....

Do you mean "privateering"? That's a good idea as well. We could also construe it so that we don't declare outright war on Enalica and get them to keep focusing their naval power in the east instead of turning it against us.

I think we're going to let Nerogue test-drive those, but we have something else in store for next month that should be excellent. Still, keep brainstorming missions. It would be great if we could have a list of briefings and string them together. We can start launching coordinated efforts this month and follow up with the rest as well as a couple special missions come next month.

Fellow Rainosians!

As the UC has demonstrated, the Current War has Enalica's fleet and Mythron's ground forces against Nerogue. Thus, Enalica is under-defended, being on the offensive on the other side of the sea of division. What would you guys think of an invasion of Santuario? Enalica is tied down elsewhere, and we have the perfect opportunity to re-take the island.

Gilbert, Asad, Halhi, Infy, thoughts?

I'm in favor of this, if we can pull it off. I also think that we stand a fair chance of recapturing Exileseat, which was Rainosian territory until the Masked changed factions and still hosts at least as many Rainosians as Enalicans. What's more, it also sits in the middle of the Sea of Division, making it a useful naval base.

this is the story arc when we're supposed to be letting the Outlaws and Enalicans look good, so there may be hitches there, but the good news is that we're considering giving Rainos free reign for a "secret challenge" where we basically make our own plans in here.

If we can use this to change the story, let's make it something to properly benefit Rainos. Raising a fleet would be a nice one for invasion, defence or even better, trade. Rainos bringing in that phat dollar would be a nice turn of events, especially since Enalica will soon need a rival. Plus, a ship building challenge could be a fun new experience for a lot of us.

This was what I originally thought. Since no one else is trading with Nerogue and Enalica and we have plenty of skilled sea-raiders, why not focus on the naval side and make a ton of money while making the Enalicans look bad? The only issue is that, on the whole, people don't like to build ships.

There are two different kinds of challenges that have the initials "RC": Rank Challenges and Regional Challenges. Regional Challenges are one type of monthly challenge, like UCs, and are open to everyone. To do a level one rank challenge, though, you do need 25 points. That's probably what you're thinking of.

That's more sudden than I expected. Good luck.

It's hard to say. Guaire does, or at least parts of it - the city walls are light grey with streaks of dark red in them, and the same color scheme shows up elsewhere in the city as well. Inside, many buildings are made of stone, and plenty show exotic architecture or refined Mythronian designs. Iremore is a melange of different styles from across Rainos, although there are Mythronian-made fortifications, often made in light and dark tan. Grorm, from what I've seen, has a lot of wooden buildings - more so than Guaire, certainly - and feels more like a town than a major city. Finally, Hadran is an odd mix - much of it feels Asadesque, since Asad's been the ruler there for a while and he has a fairlu distinctive building style, but other parts (notably the Druid's College) have gleaming domes and fantastic spires. These descriptions are only what has been shown to exist so far, though - feel free to add to the style of any of the cities if you want to set a build there.

You know, it's been a few months since the last time Rainos trashed Mythron in a straight fight. Since we tend to do that every other season, maybe it's about time to have another go.

This is pretty much where the hurricane was (although it was traveling from south to north, too). The white is the area of highest wind, the blue is serious weather with high winds, and everywhere else only got heavy rains.

I think I might do an Outlaw immigrant. Do you remember Liza by any chance, the Black Lotus operative that Steven had a relationship with toward the end of his life? If I focus on her, then that gives me an established character, continuity with my earlier story, and a new perspective. All I need is an excuse to get her to Rainos.

The problem is that the official policy on faction membership is that your main character has to belong to the same faction as you, or, at least, that you have to have plans to have your main character formally switch factions. An ambassador is still an Outlaw citizen.

Actually, this reminds me that we used to have a tradition of giving honorary citizenship to players and characters who performed some heroic act for the advantage of Rainos. All I need to do is have her perform some noteworthy deed and she can be both ambassador and citizen.

The dragon took control of the city from an entire army earlier, and my characters aren't epic-level heroes. If Luke, your sword-swinging character, is the type, though, then sure, we could take it on.

Since Luke is looking for his father, do you want to say that the citizens have been allowed to stay in the city, under the dragon's rule, or that they have all fled? That could make a difference regarding your character's motivations for visiting the area. My characters are probably going to be sneaking through Hadran to avoid the dwarves, since the dragon has kept enemy troops out of the area.

Yeah, Luke is pretty good with the sword.

As for the citizens, we could leave them there. Luke's dad is fairly good with a sword, and could help. Maybe our characters could meat up somewhere .

Hey, I'm back. All of a sudden it was time for finals, and then spring "break" hit with eight-hour work days and preparations for a term abroad in the evenings.

Anyway, how's this for a plan?

My characters want to find a way to get rid of the dragon so that Hadran can be used as a counter-offensive against the dwarf invasion affecting the other cities. They find out what needs to be done to lift the curse that summoned the beast and make it killable, and then they pass this information on so that your characters can slay the dragon and free Hadran. Does this work for you?

Is there a special way to kill the dragon, like in the Hobbit, you had to hit his weak spot, or can I chop off his head?

Whatever you want, I guess. I'll be reading through Asad's story of how the dragon came to Hadran in the first place to look for reasonable ways to break the curse.
