its a common thing about mercer county ambulances you didint know about its called ambulance chasing and when you hear that your thinking lawyers right. wrong.ambulance chasing to fire or county or private ambulances to them it is an unfair way of being paid.how it works last one there is a rotten egg and where ambulances have to beat each other to a call.the first ambulance there gets the patient and your heath care dollars.and if your wondering what the other ambulance gets.guess.if you guessed nothing your right on the money.that's how paramedics get there salary and how ambulance departments upgrade their fleet.so what's being done about it?nothing. county council delayed a vote that may of made a temporary fix for now.the mnfd suggested that the on time ambulance split the earnings with the ambulance that got there last.the biggest offender that got the ball rolling mcems.they where the highest reciver in health care dollars and they have been profiting of it.buying new ambulances and equipment.mainly others cant afford.so we will keep you posted on this one.a simalar story google river hills lake wylie ems they have a full story there and a q&a to answer your qestions about it.so any qestions?but for safe keeping its best if you contact your county's em if they have simalar amendments http://www.wcnc.com/home/Two-Ambulance-companies-compete-for-patients-and-their-health-dollars--99140244.html

Is there a central dispatch for all of the EMS providers in the area or do the private EMS providers listen in on their scanners for a call?

well the way its done its dual dispatching.and private ambulances arent really active in my county(york county)basicly there for non emergencies.but considering piedmont is the countys ems.so every ambulance in my county needs there share so in this case it only applies to rescue squads.and they do as far as i know has a central dispatch.the county sherrif does 911 i think.

to add to this topic, is dual dispatching really over? yesterday i saw the fort mill rescue squad going by with lights and sirens.well what about it? well the seccond ambulance from that service https://www.facebook.com/FortMillRescue pictured on the left and the right were responding to the same call with each other in my community.so now that york county council voted to end dual dispatching to get piedmont of local ambulance company's calls having said what i saw it makes you wonder is it really over?
